Unreal Tournament 3 PC Requirements Announced

Midway and Epic have released the system requirements for UT3, and it doesn't look half bad. Especially since you've already upgraded your rig for Crysis.

I don't even try to keep up anymore. That's why I bought a console. I'm getting older and lazier and don't feel like busting open my case every six months to drop a new component in it.

JsonHenry6069d ago

Yeah, but who wants to be playing that game on minimum settings?

I mean, think about what minimum really means. 800*600, no shadows, no HDR, no AA or AF, almost no decal limit stay, no particle effects... It will not be anything close to the screenshots available.

MK_Red6069d ago

Wow, they are rather low for a game considered to be the best looking UE3 game. Epic rules. They did the same with UT2004 and made it run smooth on much older graphics cards and now they are supporting GeForce 6200!! Looks like my PC has finally found a game (With PS3 version being delayed, I have to get the PC one. Can't wait).

Vojkan6069d ago

That is "required" so basically low end.

mighty_douche6069d ago (Edited 6069d ago )

mate if your computer is around those specs id recommend you hold out for the ps3 version!
those specs will give you 600x400 res at all low settings, this is a game you dont want to see unless its maxed out, playing it another way than that will surely spoil the experience for you.

edit @ MK... lol dude i understand, i feel the same about UT, well maybe pick it up on the pc, then when the ps3 version is released it'll be like a getting a whole new UT again! have fun my friend! ill be fragging your ass before you know it!

MK_Red6069d ago

I know the game will look terrible on my pc but I'm a UT addict and still worshiping original Unreal Tournoment. God, I can't wait but I don't want to miss those stunning visuals.

CRIMS0N_W0LF6069d ago

I can run this game but what should I buy it on if I want it to run to fullest :/ PS3 or PC? X360 Version don't count due to having missing stuff due to DVD9

mighty_douche6069d ago (Edited 6069d ago )

if its any good go for the pc everytime, but by good i mean at least core 2 duo (2.4ghz min), 8800gts/x1950, at least 2 gig of ram etc etc 'system requirements' are pointless unless your happy to run it at 600x400 res with everything set to minimum (im sure you dont).

if your pc doesnt live up to that id recommend the ps3 version, its visuals will be on par with the pc, you also get the MOD support, keyboard & mouse support and so on. plus you get to play it on a nice big tv rather than a monitor! im lucky, my monitor is 24in, and when your sat a foot away from it thats plenty big enough!

hope this helped, basically if you dont think you'll be able to max it out on your pc then get the console version and let Sony max it out for you!

CRIMS0N_W0LF6069d ago

My PC is hooked up with my HDTV >_> I can play PS3 and use PC at same time lol PIP

mighty_douche6069d ago (Edited 6069d ago )

my pc will eat that alive, ill have UT3 in one window and crysis in the other!! well probably wont.

Q6800 extreme
8800 ultra
4 gig ddr 3 ram
24in 1080p monitor

muhahahaha its my baby! dont let the miss's know that tho.

Tech Focus - Motion Blur: Is It Good For Gaming Graphics?

Opinion is divided on this one for sure! Is motion blur good for gaming? Why do developers include it?

TheOptimist2151d ago

I hate any game that has motion blur and the first thing I do is switch off the motion blur in games. It just makes me nauseous.

XentaJones2150d ago

motion blur makes me sick... so its off.

OpenGL2150d ago

I agree with Alex here, many implementations are terrible but when it is done right it improves the experience.

TheSplooge2150d ago

I always turn it off. Along with depth of field.

Mr_Wilson2150d ago

Those plus vignetting, chromatic aberration, and film grain.

Let’s be Honest, DOOM Looks like the Best First Person Shooter We’ve Seen in Ages

Alex from GamersFTW writes:

“In all seriousness though, I feel like DOOM’s success will be measured by how much the game has to offer. Graphically it’s looking spectacular, and I’m sure the latest multiplayer trailer caught all of our attention. Personally, the game is beginning to remind me of those late nights playing Unreal Tournament 3, which is totally a good thing. This, in addition to the promise of user-generated content, is making DOOM look like the best first-person shooter I’ve seen in ages.”

The campaign looks brilliant, like a true nostalgia trip to the original DOOM titles of old! The multiplayer equally looks like a trip down memory lane to fast-paced and frantic arena games a-la Quake, and honestly the MP REALLY makes me want to the get game at launch to capitalise on the hype. Problem is I'm not overly fussed with multiplayer typically in games, they can get weary after a while, and buying a game solely for its MP is risky - especially on console - as it's heavily dependant on the community!

Rock to my left, hard place to my right..

EDIT: On the MP note, does anyone know if it'll have bots available, similar to Unreal Tournament 3? I still give that a quick play time to time with bots (and all the mad mutators).

c00lvilKid692981d ago

I’m exactly the same, usually multiplayer games are of no interest to me. But DOOM has sparked my curiosity, especially as someone who used to enjoy multiplayer first person shooters like Quake/Unreal. Totally understand your concerns about it being heavily dependant on the community, too. Which is just another reason they should include bots, in case the numbers need to be made up. I’m hoping the community will be good, considering the creative freedoms they’re handing over with the SnapMap thing.

Its basically a "console" ahead, in terms of graphics, of another shooter called Homefront thats getting ready to release. LOL

wakeNbake2981d ago

Well thats just a low budget turd, no comparison at all.

mezati992981d ago

i am gonna have to agree with this
