Mark Clapham writes, in his Story Gamer review, "DS owners looking for some giant robot action will find some fun to be had with War for Cybertron: Autobots, providing they're in the market for some very unpretentious shooting. The game is faithful to the cartoonier, brighter versions of the franchise, and both the feel of the characters and the aesthetics of the game have the ring of authenticity about them. It's not brilliant, but neither does it disgrace the brand."
