The fighting in this game looks really simple. Doesn't look too deep at all and very lacking.

Blaze9294812d ago

that's true and I do agree. But the trailer that was included with this demo shows some impressive combos and juggling. Seems no different from any other MK game - which may or may not be the problem depending who you ask.

I never really liked games with large combos and juggling anyway...not because I'm not good at them(I'm decent at arcana heart and BB) it's just that I don't like the way a fight just gos one way or the other after the first hit is made there's some combos that can KO an opponent from full hp and are unbreakable.

Why does a fighting game need to be complex and contain dizzying combos in order to be fun?

The old school MK and SF games were stupidly simple and everyone loved them. I still play MKII and SSF2:Turbo from time to time with friends and we have a blast.

I can't wait for this new MK. Deep or not - it's fun, and that's what matters.

MAJOR SPOILERS
It doesn't matter. They are replacing subzero with cyberzero :( this is worse than DmC Emo Dante, they are pretty much ruining my childhood here. I don't care that they are killing off kung lao or kitana but saving Human Smoke and turning Subzero into a robot is just the biggest betrayal of all gaming.

GunofthePatriots4812d ago

wow these videos are painfully boring. pause, unpause, pause, unpause.

i wouldve have written the combos down and then execute them all in 1 smooth motion.

Blaze9294811d ago

i think the point of the video was to show the viewers what move he/she was pulling off then do it right after as well as showing HOW to do them.

Panthers4811d ago

i agree. VERY annoying and boring.

TrevorPhillips4812d ago

Give the guy some credit, at least he showed all the moves and stuff. Kudos for the video champ :)

IHateYouFanboys4811d ago

Mortal Kombat was all about combo juggling. anyone calling it simple wasnt playing it right, and wouldnt have been able to even land a hit on the better players.

looks fantastic, cant wait to get it.

Panthers4811d ago

This game is fun for casuals, and deep enough for hard core. That is what makes it so fun. You can button mash and have a great time, but wouldnt last a second against a seasoned vet.

Panthers4811d ago

I cant get enough of MK videos. This game jumped straight to my most wanted list. I cant wait!!!!!!!

Panthers4811d ago

Ok actually these vidoes are VERY annoying. Why show the pause menu each time?

My favorite is always going to be Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. I know some people didn't like the addition of the run button. But, man that game is burned into my memory from childhood, lol.

Relientk77184d ago

That's the one I played the most as a kid. Fun times gaming on my Sega Genesis, the memories

Terry_B184d ago

Deception, MK2, MK9, MKX ..rest.

MK2 will always be the best in the series. Been playing a lot of MK1 lately though. Definitely enjoying it more than any other NRS era MK game.

Tankbusta40184d ago

1 and 2 were cultural phenomenon's.

I will always have a special place in my memory for MK 1 and 2. You had to be there during that era at the arcades. Martial arts tournament fighting movies were still popular, and MK 1 was exciting. Real life motion captured characters done well (unlike Pit Fighter). A cast of characters we all liked like Bruce Lee(Lui Kang), Van Damme(Johnny Cage), the Lightning god(Raiden) from Big Trouble in Little China, and Ninjas, gotta have Ninjas. Goro was menacing as hell. The MK arcade had some of the best speakers similar to Killer Instinct as you could hear the loud crisp and bassy sound that was distinctly different than other arcades. MK 2 improved greatly on the controls and fighting mechanics
