Its not possible at all. NK might invade s korea but they would get owned. They dont have enough of an army for anything. The whole countrys starving, half the population is blind from cataracs. They are dying slowly behind kim jong il. Anyone who speaks out well their whole family goes off the concentration camps. The only reason there is still a n korea is they have nukes. You see this is what communissim gets you, a starving dying country. Its really sad how people live over there. In terms of the Homefront story they reunite with S.Korea and annex a few other Eastern Asian countries including Japan. The invasion comes much later.

It's all hugely unlikely I agree, but a hugely interesting set of coincidences nevertheless.

think about it. N korea detonates EMP before USA can use Nuclear weapons to stop them. No amount of EMP burst from space is going to hit the surface, penetrate the ground and get to missile silos that are sheilded exactly from EMP bursts. Nor is one going to take out the fleet of nuclear subs carrying about 8-12 nuclear ICBM missles, each with 3-6 warheads. Microwave radiation shorts electrical components. military equipment is double sheilded much like a cable that transmits video. The shielding can be seen on your coaxial cable from your tv. Take one apart and you will see it. All wiring on a military vehicle has this shielding to protect it.

And I have no idea about the US having shale oil reserves, I call bullshit on that. But the US has massive coal reserves which I think CIA boy meant. Shale oil is very low grade oil. Brazil and Canada have high reserves. Coal can be used as fuel. Germany powered it's lufftwaffe with coal fuel. And an m1a1 Abrams can run on vodka if you pour it in it's gas tank. If it is liquid and burns that think can use it.
