Lets cut to it. Beyond Good and Evil sold like garbage back in 2003. Put out during a major sales slump, mainly due to an over saturation in the marketplace, the sales figures for the original release were tepid at best. Also, Ubisoft did not help themselves with the release of this title, XIII (FYI XIII was a pretty great game too!) and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time all in the same Christmas period.
Much like Tim Schafers’ Psychonauts the critics applauded the release of Beyond Good and Evil lavishing it with great scores and multiple games awards. Unfortunately none of this translated in to solid sales and Beyond Good and Evil was consigned to the bargain bins of videogame history. So shoot forward to 2011 and we have the re-mastered efforts of this long maligned classic title. So what was all the fuss about many of you will ask? Well let me tell you friends.

Where's number 2?! They show a cinematic teaser and then it just falls off the edges like it never happened. I liked this game and I want to know that the sequel still exists..
Neil writes "We're here yet again with the latest free Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles ready to be thrust upon us. But in a period that sees few new games released, the Xbox Games With Gold scheme for August could well be the big hitting feature that Xbox One and Xbox 360 players looking for a new game rely on. That combination therefore leaves the door wide open for the scheme to deliver a cracking set of free titles."
Good for me as I've never played any of the games being offered this month.
Edit: that was a lie, I played BG&E on OGXbox.
I'm going to get some mileage out of everything but Spelunky. I've played that in so many variations. I realized when I started Spelunky World online for PS4 that I simply cannot plant another bomb without blacking out. I have not played a wrestling game since the last wwe game on PS2. I'm excited to see how far things have come. Solid month for me.
MajorNelson:
For the month of August, Xbox Live Gold members will receive four new free games - two on Xbox One and two on Xbox 360 - as part of the Games with Gold program.
On Xbox One, Xbox Live Gold members can download WARRIORS OROCHI 3 Ultimate ($59.99 ERP) for free during the month of August. WWE 2K16 ($39.99 ERP) will be available as a free download from August 16th to September 15th.
Nice Selection for the month of August imo.I played BG&E back on the original Xbox and I'm not a big fan of the WWE games but I'm gonna download both anyways also I'm really eager to try out Warriors O and Spelunky.
Awww YEYAH!!
Just bought a month's-worth of Gold last night - mostly so I could get The Banner Saga 2, but I'm gonna be getting some serious value out of August's line-up... always meant to play Beyond Good and Evil, but kept forgetting it existed and I'll definitely check out the other games - I hear Spelunky's great and it's been well over a decade since I last dished-out a virtual smackdown!
Anyone know if Mick Foley, Mankind or Cactus Jack are still alive?
I bought a PS2 last year to catch up on some games I had never played. Finally got round to playing this puppy last spring. No reason not to play it again though...
I got 800MS points just lying around in my account.. Maybe I should buy this??
I'll try out the trial version.. I think I got it downloaded already, actually.. I'll probs give it a whirl later on.. See what's up
played it in hd years ago on pc, and it looked great
it looked better in 2003 on pc

Too much hyperbole for this game! It's like a hotchpotch of elements from games and films - a Pokemon Snap camera , Zelda/ Starfox Adventures combat , pod racing that's a bit like Star Wars: The Phantom Menace in a Waterworld / Mad Max like area, stealth that's like any stealth game, a rooftop chase scene like Hitchcock's North by North West, a fairly cliched sci-fi plot with (yawn) a journalist. Oh it's so Continental European- no wonder people who like to pretend that that always mean sophistication fall over themselves to say how underrated it was. Honestly, you will struggle to remember the content of nearly all of the levels after you have played it (the final level is a disappointment)- you will only easily recall parts of the hub world and the animal characters. Don't get me wrong, it has some nice buildings in parts but it's 7 or 8 out of 10 at best (but, then, so are many other games that are scored as 9/10). There is a good part in the lighthouse towards the end but it's a game that's very much of its generation. Now, the Beyond Good and Evil 2 trailer, that looks more like a rip roaring adventure.
is it still true that you can't invert the y-axis and not invert the x-axis?
