But that's not a significant problem, says PSM3 Homefront review
Jack writes: "Back in March 2011, the first-person action shooter Homefront arrived on the Xbox 360 from THQ, along with a storm of publicity which included a really cool live-action trailer"
Last week game dev Steve Thornton took to Twitter to ask: fellow devs, have you ever slipped something into a game you're working on that's just for you? The replies are well worth a read.
Deep Silver and Humble Bundle are currently offering the first Homefront game for free. This offer will last for the next 48 hours, so be sure to visit its Humble Bundle page in order to acquire your free copy.
get it! the single player is excellent and intense and the MP is pretty fun, too.
Ehh, PS4 needs these deals too, or consoles in general we always get discounts rarely free stuff that's REALLY free (games with gold / psplus isn't free)
"That short, short length of the main story may seem like a major sticking point, but it isn't as significant as you might fear," it says. "Homefront is relentlessly brutal and constantly puts you in new, unusual and memorable scenarios, varying the pace to keep things interesting."
PSM3 admits it was left wanting more at the end, "but not because we felt that the story was lacking or that we hadn't been playing for long enough - we were just keen to keep playing".
Multiplayer also fared well, with PSM3 praising guns that "really come into their own" and a battle point system ensures that games "rarely feel one-sided".
If it's 5 hours of quality I'm all for it. For me though, the main drawing point is the multiplayer. Would like to hear more from it.
Well I can think of two major FPS's released in last two weeks with similar short campaigns, Not much said them particularly, the depressing one.
But Halo3, Ohh my.
It's a tad selfish for reviewers/publishers/consumers to say the campaign length is not a major point. There are still people without internet access (i'm not one of them) who will feel cheated by this trend of rationalizing by stating the real meat of a game is in it's MP.
5 hrs is the equivalent of around £8 per an hr... Games aren't exactly cheap you know!
I remember THQ said they wanted to change their business model and wanted to start releasing games shorter and cheaper with the intention of making up the monitary difference from DLC sales. Well it looks like they achieved the shorter part, but forgot the cheaper on this one.
Yeah just like KZ3,which I finished fairly in about 7 to 8 hours and am a good player, not to mention that was only on veteran,I don't wanna know how the other difficulty will play out.
So yeah, not to jump off the point at hand
am sure Homefront will have a fair amount of SP thrown into it,and reviewers need to stop being "too picky".
