I don't think any of those games you mentioned had a budget $21 million or 120 developers working on them. Of course all that money and developers doesn't necessarily guarantee success but it doesn't hurt.

The ONLY variables = Graphics, story, and AI.

All Killzone2 has to do is exactly what other FPS's do. Make sure its still an fps. Meaning running/jumping/shooting/hidin g. All that it would really need is a Map Editor & 32+ Multiplayer to escape morons calling it "Just another FPS." Even then, since its on the ps3 it must redefine the genre as we know it... so since it fails in that.. it will get an 7/10.

We can talk about AI, but since people rarely play Singleplayer modes anymore for a length of time, all that really matters is that it is going to be an amazing FPS w/great multiplayer.

Why other games in the fps genre get passes for being the exact same as the previous version/genres, I have no idea. But it will not be fair to dock Killzone 2 points, for pushing the graphical element of the FPS way further than it has ever been pushed on a console.

For some reason its up to the PS3 to bring NEW and INNOVATIVE games to this generation. And when it fails to, it is knocked down points for not doing so. How is one going to Improve on an FPS without making it a non-fps. YOU cant do this.

I remember a time when Adventure game was an adventure game, when a side scroller was a side scroller, when a fighting game was just a fighting game etc. yes there were New developments now and again, but Tomb Raider was still Tomb Raider. Now this generation sees a game like Uncharted, which is an Adventure game... Now people just say "HAHAH its a Rip Off of Gears and Tomb Raider!" Well yes, you can dissect a game to its basic gameplay and compare that to another, but thats what we have Game Genres for isnt it?

I hate to burst the bubble but a few things caught my attention.

#1- the preview mentioned that the shooting mechanic needs some work. Will GG change this much? Sure hope so b/c its a shooter.

#2- No mention of enemy AI, whether it was good or bad....that kind of worries me b/c in all the movies I've seen enemy AI seemed questionable. Sure the difficulty may have been set to 'easy' but I still have my doubts.

#3- the article mentions a late 2008 release....I thought it was coming out 'early 2008' meaning the 1st half of 2008. I guess GG changed the release date recently.

Anyways I think this game will get 8.5's and 9.0's. It will get some 8.0's and 9.5's but I think it will average 8.5-9.0.

Couldn't agree with you more Meus I. This game just looks more and more amazing everytime I see more info on it. If it lives up to the hype (and I am hoping it will surpass it), will make me go out and buy another PS3 so I can Multiplayer with my son. Shooters on 360 so far seem to be getting so generic (yes...bioshock was pretty good admittedly...although short...but no online) and tired of MPing COD and GOW on our 2 360's. Wasn't fan of previous Killzone attempts or Sony for that matter...but, as mentioned... I am psyched for this game.

that Feb. date was shown before E3 in July...but was never confirmed by Sony or Guerilla...not sure where it came from, but all the major retailers cite that timeframe...

However, Guerilla usually responds simply with "uh...2008"...Sony won't rush this one, we all know what happened to the first one because of it...and it really has no "big" fps competetion next year, so there really is no hurry to get it out...which sucks though...I want it yesterday...

UT3 will hold me over until whenever this is ready...and COD4 has some deferred rendering, albeit way less dramatic, also...so that will hold me over in terms of impressive lighting systems...

That was exactly what Criterion claimed when developing black. Now that was a f*cking kickarse game. It was shot down for being too short and having no multiplayer, but it still remains one of the very best fps experiences I've ever had. Forget the story, forget the objectives, forget the enemies - the simple act of firing a gun in that game felt awesome every time. If KZ2 can replicate, or, I pray, best the feel of the weapons and the level of destructible environments that Black had, it will be mindblowing.

right now they have to please to their larger fanbase being the 360 but once things change you'll be seeing better reviews on ps3 games..

The graphics are looking AMAZING, I hope this game lives up to the hype and they work out the control and aiming issues they spoke of in the article above. I love the lightning; it is by far the best looking lightning i have ever seen in a game.

Heavenly sword got good reviews and so did oblivion. Quit being retarded fan kids and acting like there is an anti ps3 conspiracy. It is the systems 1rst year and the 360 is in it's second year so of course the 360 will have more quality games. There is no bias other than the one in your head. By acting stupid and making dumb comments about everyone being xbox fanboys and rigging reviews creates a polarizing effect that makes people not want to be associated with the ps3 brand due to the idiotic fanboys.

I own it...and if it is the only fps you ever played...it is fine...and it is towards the top of the list for PS2 shooters...but...

compared to any decent PC shooter...it is complete garbage...not to start this, but the original also was destroyed by Halo in terms of polish and playability...only thing I ever liked more with the killzone series than halo 1 and 2 was the art direction and story behind of Helghast, ISA, etc...

but I don't think it will be the same with KZ2...It is illegal to compared KZ2 and halo3 for obvious reasons...so I am not touching on that...but KZ2 looks to have a way less linear mechanic at times...something that was horribly bad about the first one...

well the art direction really sets it apart from most fps's. The art direction is really whats winning it for me. At this point i only have once concern...A.I. MGS4 and killzone from what i have seen so far seem to be lacking in the A.I. Not as worried for mgs4 because they will more than make up for it in other aspects of the game. Uncharted A.I. from what i have seen looks top knotch and i killzone keeps talking about how its made improvements in its A.I. but i just havnt seen these improvements. If the A.I. is solid (like they claim) they can put me down for 60 dollars. IMO all fps's are the same so to get me to commit to 1 you have to come with something different than just the same ol same ol and killzone is doing that for me. The death animation and the blood spurts already set it apart enough

True FPS fans will realize that Killzone 2 IS THE REVOLUTIONARY CONSOLE SHOOTER.

Sony will hype this up with some Halo 3 type marketing and from there people will be buying PS3's off the market. Once they realize how true this game is graphically and understand that Killzone is how you're supposed to game, Halo 3 will be saturated in gamestops across the nation in trades.

I would have to agree with that. I got my Collectors Edition (the disc was scratched heavily but playable) and I popped it in. And I wasn't impressed from what I saw. The graphics are soooo bad. And this is the first time I wanted to play a Halo game. And after that one time I never popped in the disc to try it again and find out what the hype really is about. If you ask me I give the graphics a 5/10 and I cant comment on the gameplay because I havent finished it yet. I will definitely try it once I send it back to MS for a new copy.

I'm not gonna hype this game up, yes it has amazing graphics but I'm waiting on the gameplay. For me, gameplay is much more important then the special graphics which seem to amaze you graphics whores in this thread. I personally don't think it will do anything new for the FPS genre and no I don't think it will kick the crap out of Halo 3, Halo is Halo. Halo is an excellent game which I like, I also liked Killzone 1 but it had many problems which need to be addressed in Killzone 2 which I'm sure they will do.

I just want Killzone 2 to do its own thing, not worry about being the best graphically looking game out there but the most balanced and great gameplay. Gameplay will make people stay with the game for ages, look at Halo 2 for example, sure it was great looking for some time but the gameplay kept it going. Do that and your FPS will be great.

I do think that Haze, KZ2 and maybe even Unreal3 will get bad reviews just because there PS3 games. They will pick the littlest things like why isn't the frame rate higher and the resolution at 1080p. Reviewers will say, we expect more from PS3. LMFAO!! This game is going to smash Halo3. I'm expecting scores of 9.0-9.4 and maybe 9.8 or even 10!

i've been very disappointed in the marketing and advertisment i've seen for the ps3 and its games. games like Warhawk and Heavenly Sword seem to be an after-thought for sony.

if they want their system and games to sell well they need a better marketing strategy. i remember when Gears of War came out last fall, time a show went to commercial, the commercial for Gears was played. i can still remember the music that was played during the commercial and how it played out. at the time i had no idea what the game was but the commercials made me never forget it.

Not to mention Gears of War was being played in a box office movie (die hard 4.0). But the fact of the matter is Sony's funds are being carefully divided into which games to be advertised the most. Which is MGS and FF and others. Basically I think Sony's strategy is to get some Solid titles out in 2007 and to really push the ads in 08.

Sony has stated in one way or another that 2008 is their year. When it comes to the positive aspects of the PS3, you're hear 08 08 08 08 08 along with it.

I think what they want to do is when they do a blitz advertising campaign with MGS, FFXIII etc, they want consumers to see that "hey, PS3 has some good games I didnt notice before like Warhawk, Uncharted and Heavenly Sword". Take in the solid lineup of 07 and a content featured 08 is what I think Sony is trying to do.

Based on many reviews, Killzone for the PS2 received a 70 out of 100. 1up even gave it an 80. My main point is this: This game got average to decent reviews across the board. I think people should stop saying that Killzone 1 was a HORRIBLE game that no one liked. The only reason people are saying that, and completely ignoring the fact that the reviews were actually "okay," is because naysayers are looking for anything to blemish the hype of Killzone 2.

With Grand Theft Auto slated to come out in October, the hold on to your hats Killzone2, the what the F*<k baddest game Metal Gear Solid 4, the Drake Uncharted realistic action game coming out soon and many many more kick azz games and a lower priced PS3- do I need to say more.

Let's truly see who has the last laugh on this console war.

P.S. Just keep on fixing the 360's and keep on trying to build games that are produced in 720p or for that matter 1080p, while SONY sits back and releases an array of diverse adult themed hot titles soon to grace GLOBAL EARTH for everyone to enjoy on the PLAYSTATION 3.

P.S.S. Killzone 2 will ruin any thing in its path.

I was comparing console FPS not PC FPS which are better than most of the FPS's on console. I like Kilzone 1, Halo 1, 2 and 3 and I liked HL2 and CSS.

Halo 2 was a fun game, yes it had its flaws but the gameplay was still excellent. I just want them to make the best gameplay they can instead of focusing on just graphics, just remember that graphics will only make a game go so far.

ps3 ia the biggest flop, this game will be to, all you fan boys hype just about anything, Jesus if they added that ugly boomerang controller and a extra usb port, all ps3 gayboys would going around saying its "revolutionary " even when the rumor bungie and microsoft were splitting up i saw at so many ps3 fanboys go "oh bungie will be so god on multiplatform!" and mind you they were all bagging bungie a weeks ago.....

point being is yous all hype it, it will be a terrible game with good graphics, yeah have fun with that thing you call a ps3, ahem aka 3do remake = FLOP!
