Taking the term literally, there are very few legitimate 'roleplaying' games - certainly fewer than exist within the RPG genre. How many times, for example, do you remember actually feeling at one with the character you controlled?
How many times did you share not just their experiences and actions, but their mind and body as well? Rather than give you ownership of a character's stats and inventory, how many games give you the sense that your character in part has possession over you?
Not many, though The Chronicles of Riddick is one.
A lot of movie tie-in games have been a bit naff, but there's a rare few that actually surpass the quality of their source material.
Butcher Bay is still an awesome game. Ghost Rider surprised me with how good it was, very GoW like. Warriors is another great one but with the exception of R&C, i havent played the others.
Was getting "page not found" until I turned on VPN. Any reason for this, culturedvultures?
From Xfire: "Video game enthusiast and Hollywood superstar, Vin Diesel, has taken his talents to video games numerous times. We've decided to rank all of his games from the worst to the best."
“Ranking every game with Vin Diesel from terrible to bad”
Fixed the title for you.
Butcher Bay was great. From the prolog, fist fighting, knife fights and story. The immersion of the whole package really uped the criteria of what a cutting edge game was back then. I would like another adventure with Riddick, but it would have to be triple A status to live up to Butcher Bay.

I seriously hope the remake / expansion sells really good so Riddick becomes a franchise.
Original Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay was simply one of the best FPS games of all time. It was short and lacked multiplayer but hey, it was more than sweet.
rememeber it was xbox only and it had jawdropping grapics that game was a masterpeice in terms of grapics wise imagine what it wud ply lie on the 360 and it wud be 360 exclusive
This game truly was one of the console defining titles of the last gen. Stunning graphics, superb gameplay, a kick ass melee system, and one of my favourite features. Absolute darkness. It's a feature that so few games have actually been brave enough to embrace. The ability to have it so dark, that literally no light can be seen whatsoever. There were a few places where you could make this happen by taking out all the lights and it really made the atmosphere. I will be getting this, no question.
this game is in my top 3 of all time together with half life 2 and bioshock.
Yep this is definitely one of my favourite FPS games (along with Red Faction) and can't wait for the remake.
I hope it gets the praise it deserves next time around because the game was truly a masterpiece yet many people don't realise it!
