Is inFAMOUS 2 the next Uncharted 2?

For reasons unknown inFAMOUS 2 is giving goukijones goose bumps. He did not like inFAMOUS, but the more and more he see of this sequel the more he wants to play it. Check out his take on how sequels are being dumb downed, but inFAMOUS 2 looks like it's going to shine.

BatRastered4839d ago

I dunno... I don't see that much of a difference.

zootang4839d ago

Infamous 2 looks like it could surpass Uncharted 2. I think it will beat it for my personal favourite of the two.

Quagmire4839d ago (Edited 4839d ago )

Dream on

I found Infamous to be quite boring, and the second game just seems to want to cash in on Uncharted's success first with the so called design change back to the original after what looke dlike Drake's younger brother. Also, with the inclusion of set pieces such as helicopter assaults a la Uncharted 2.

Infamous 2 looks good, but not THAT good.

zootang4839d ago

Must just be me then. I thought infamous was as good if not better than the first Uncharted. I completed both and I like both. I still think infamous did more justice for the PS3 than Uncharted.

BiggCMan4839d ago

Who the fuck cares which one is better, thats opinion anyways. The fact is, we as PS3 owners get all 4 games, amongst others, and that is what matters most.

Sharingan_no_Kakashi4839d ago

I enjoyed infamous more than uncharted 2 so for me I already know Infamous 2 will be more enjoyable than Uncharted 3 (for me).

In college we're taught that currently the most popular two genres are sandbox and ugc games. Probably because they have the most freedom. Don't get me wrong I love Uncharted but sometimes it feels like it's playing itself with all the scripted sequences.

Sarcasm4839d ago

I agree with BiggC. Who really cares if one is "better" and considering they're such different style of games.

All I know is from what I've seen is that Infamous 2 is a massive leap over Infamous 1 without sacrificing what made the original good. It's one of the few titles that's "Wowed" me for this year.

ExplosionSauce4839d ago

Without talking about graphics, I think yes.

badz1494839d ago

be it inFAMOUS 2 or Uncharted 3! bring them ON!!!

nickjkl4838d ago

infamous 2 is the next infamous leave uncharted out of every damn article when it comes to gaming

its getting kinda irritating

nveenio4838d ago (Edited 4838d ago )

inFamous stands on its own. It doesn't need to be "the next Uncharted", or the "Uncharted killer" or whatever. Those are headlines crafted by people who are desperate for a headline. If a game is good, it won't be compared to another game. It will become the new standard. inFamous is one of those games. It is the defacto superhero game. It is a new standard for open world environments.

EDIT: But even if it WAS the new Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3 will come along and be the new inFamous 2. See how stupid that sounds?

I've been saying that for a while now, Uncharted 2 is almost perfect and it has very little room for improvement, so I don't expect Uncharted 3 to the this years's GOTY

but the first inFamous was a diamond in a the rough, huge potential but many drawbacks prevented it from reaching it, so what could've been a brilliant game was only a very very good one, much like the first Uncharted

but inFamous 2 is looking to make all the right moves and because of the open ended design and superpowers gameplay it could be even better than Uncharted if they pull it off

anyway, it's a day one purchase for anyone who think consider himself a core gamer

KingDustero4839d ago

I believe Uncharted 3 will be GoTY this year. From the little they've already surpassed the second game with the small amount of footage they've shown. Drake just seems much more real. He interacts with the environment much more.

If you're running down a small hallway he'll reach out and glide his hand across the wall. If you turn quickly around a corner he'll grab something to keep his balance. The hand to hand combat is improved and much more dynamic. You'll be fighting multiple guys at once instead of just one on one. Plus you'll be using the environment much more, like grabbing a bottle off a nearby counter and breaking it over the guy's head.

Graphically it does look better than Uncharted 2. The animations amazingly look even better.

MP wise ND is doing something BIG. They're really focusing on it now and are aiming to take down the "big boys."

All in all Uncharted 3 is a pretty big improvement over Uncharted 2 and has a HIGH chance of getting GoTY.

Anyways though there are a TON of games that all deserve GoTY. Uncharted 3 will be mine though most likely.

On to inFamous 2. The game really is looking amazing. I myself really did like the first game. This one is a HUGE leap over the first though. It is for sure the Uncharted of open world games. The visuals and lighting are just AMAZING. The animations look really good too. Plus the story seems to be much deeper this time. I'm glad that karma is a much bigger part now and how it is no longer obvious which choice is good and which is bad.

pain777pas4839d ago

Somebody tell what games have better GAMEPLAY than Infamous. Seriously the controls were sticky but Nintendoesque in execution and fully commiting to the parcour openended element of the game. I loved Infamous gameplay wise. The sequel looks like it goes well beyond Infamous 1 in everyway. I for one put this game right beside UC3, Skyrim, ME3 and Gears 3 for announced GOTY contenders. I will have to put LBP2 and the dark horse LA Noire in their aswell. Gameplay wise I could not fault Infamous at all and the story if you played to the end was amazing. This game is a gem for those who like single player experiences.

BrokenGamez4839d ago

u dont see a difference?? go back and look at INF1 and then look at trailer for INF2 its almost like a complete makeover

Daver4838d ago (Edited 4838d ago )

That game looks awesome! I think its my most anticipated game this year... and its coming in June!

I think it can do to Sucker Punch what Uncharted 2 did for Naughty Dog. Most definitely.

While ND had many successful titles, Uncharted 2 was the crown achievement that got them recognized as the "big dogs" by the media.

I think the same path is likely for SP, who, while having many successful titles, have a potential blockbuster with inFamous 2.

If there is one obstacle for iNFamous 2 to overcome, it is standing out in a sea of absolutely phenomenal titles for 2011. I don't recall Uncharted 2 having that level of competition.

trippyaaron4839d ago

actually crash bandicoot was by far their most popular title. even before uncharted they were considered the "big dogs"

DigitalAnalog4839d ago

Yes, you are correct in that assessment. But if you look at U1, it was so unusual that a game of that caliber could go under the radar this gen. It was not until Uncharted 2 was released did they find out how U1 was brilliant at that time. If U2 wasn't released, I doubt anybody this gen would be talking about ND. And I believe that's what A-M22 meant.

-End statement

-Alpha4839d ago (Edited 4839d ago )

Yes, that's what I meant.

While CB was definitely their most popular title, ND wouldn't stick out as top-tier developers today without Uncharted 2. While UC1 was good, that alone just made ND another developer on the PS3 with a history of AA-AAA games from the 90's and 2000's

What makes ND stand out this gen is that they proved Sony's ethic of First Party Studios not only making an exceptional product, but utilizing the PS3's much hyped potential. By doing so ND showed a talent that super-starred their name. The game is an all-around title that is accessible for just about any gamer and that's what makes is such a flagship product.

It's an all around exceptional title and it came from not some big third party studio but by a relatively quiet developer group that was never before talked about as much. That all changed after UC2.

And I believe the same can happen with Sucker Punch and inFamous 2.

pain777pas4839d ago

Excellent series of posts here and I think you're right on the money A-M22.

Masterchef20074839d ago (Edited 4839d ago )

I agree as well. And its seems great that a developer like SP is inspired by UC2 in such a way that they want to top it. This is what i love about Sony their devs work with each other to produce such high quality exclusives which is something that i dont see on the 360. While the 360 will have great exclusives they will never be on the same level as Sonys first party studios because of the way those studios work together.

This is just an opinion

theafroman4839d ago

infamous 2 will be a great game on it own greatness, whether it's better than uncharted or not i dont care, because im going to buy it.

NateCole4839d ago (Edited 4839d ago )

Possible but i think Infamous will not be as critically acclaim like U2. I could be wrong though.

For me personally i like Infamous gameplay more than uncharted 1. I hope Infamous 2 will be better than U2 as well in this regard.

Infamous 2 will have more powers which is one of the things that held Infamous 1 back which is the lack of varied powers. The other is mission vareity imo. If Sp manages to keep replayability high then Infmaouse 2 is really going to be a GOTY contender this year.

CaptainPunch4839d ago

It might have the visuals, but the story isn't as good as Uncharteds. Don't get me wrong the game looks good, but Uncharted has great characters. Infamous is a fun game to play, you wouldn't care too much about the story.

CaliGamer4839d ago

How can you be so sure the story will not be as good as UC2? They haven't really revealed that much bro.

Kinda premature don't you think?

CaptainPunch4837d ago

Dude did you play the first Infamous? The story was nothing amazing. Plus from reading the previews and seeing gameplay you get an idea of what the game is going to be like.

Redempteur4839d ago

Lol so you know about the story of infamous 2 then ?

Please don't try to make comparaisons when you just don't have enough to do it properly .

there is a reason why infamous DEStroyed his direct concurrent at the time ( prototype ) ..that was just because it succeeded at what it tried to do while still having room to improve.

I want it too. Make it co-op as well.

-Foxtrot371d ago

Yeah they had a lightning bolt in the shape of a question mark at the end of Infamous 2

They always went off the good ending for Cole so I think for Delsin it should be the bad ending

What he did in the bad ending, absorbing everyone’s powers, seemed like he was going to turn into something powerful.

Makes you feel like he could have been the real Beast and John was just an anomaly because of them messing with time

Sets up a Cole vs Delsin showdown

potatoseal371d ago

How would fans feel about a reboot? You know to bring a new audience in? Not a good idea? Good idea?

anast370d ago

Not a god idea. They let it sit for too long and the game hasn't been strong enough to carry itself all these years. There is so much other stuff out there right now.

masterfox371d ago

Second Son was released in 2014 was an amazing game visually and gameplay wise, sometimes I play it again on the PS5 and seeing it run at 60 fps is something to behold(yes an almost 10 year old game), if you haven't done that on your PS5 try it you won't be disappointed, pure eye candy, a PS5 exclusive of Infamous would be amazing no doubt.

gold_drake371d ago

meh, i want Cole to come back.

or maybe a reboot. with cole.

Older PlayStation games that we'd love to see on the PlayStation 5

From Xfire: "For a company with a three-decade-long history in gaming, Sony has done a crappy job at preserving its legacy. "

Flawlessmic761d ago (Edited 761d ago )

All the mgs games, all the ape escapes, silent hill 1-4, croc 1 and 2, legend of dragoon, tekken 3,tenshu, bushido blade, vagrant story, okami, ico, crash bash, gt4.

Welshy761d ago

Flawlessmic761d ago (Edited 761d ago )

RedDevils761d ago (Edited 761d ago )

If the PC can emulate the PS3, then for sure the PS5 would be able to do same. but dose Sony want it?

Mr Logic1424d ago

If there was money in it, then Sony would do it. People can bitch and moan all they want, but even if every person on this site used BC, that would still be a tiny fraction of gamers. Almost nobody really uses BC.

DethWish1424d ago (Edited 1424d ago )

I think there would be money if they made PS3 games downloadable through PSNow and added a bunch more.
Edit: I would get it if MGS4 was available

Mr Logic1424d ago

@DethWish

That would be an emulator. You're not making any sense.

DethWish1424d ago

Mr Logic, really? If PS5 could emulate PS3 games (BC) and PSNow would let you download and play PS3 games locally instead of streaming (like it lets you download PS4 games), wouldn't that be awesome? PSNow has some really interesting PS3 games, but I'd prefer to play them locally

MadLad1424d ago

Really?
Remasters of popular games do extremely well. MS basically hands them out for free. If people didn't want to play older games, then why do remasters sell so well?

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 1424d ago
anonymousfan1424d ago

I honestly would probably never ever use it... But I still think it would be pretty neat. Its one of the few avantages PC still has on console that is complete backwards compatibility. But for all the work needed to implement this I doubt it would be worth Sony's time.

Melankolis1424d ago

In my opinion.
The difference is independent emulator developer can build any emulator as an experiment that will be perfected for years, maybe more than 10 years. During that time, expect many glitch, bugs, and updates. They can do that because they do not have any obligation towards PC users or whatsoever.

Fos Sony, once they announce PS5 will be able to play PS3 games, they have to make it safe and playable for users. They do not want the emulator cause bricks, glitch, heating up or anything to the consoles and get sued for that.

Harkins17211424d ago

The amount of work it would require sony for each game probably isn't worth it. Maybe after rpcs3 is done they can patent it and use it. That's the dream lol

EazyC1424d ago

Wish I never sold my PS3 for MGS IV alone, I'm dying to play it again

Gamerking821424d ago (Edited 1424d ago )

Any ps3 owner has too own this masterpiece . My disk drive has just gone on my old super slim . So I bought the digital version no questions ask . If you have a ps3 own this masterpiece that’s all I can say . I replay it every year and still find loads of enjoyment . The last true metal gear in my opinion . V was good and gameplay amazing , but it’s just not a metal gear quality story wise .
