IGN: Jurassic Park Makes You Want to Fail

A battle is raging between a T-Rex and a Triceratops, and you're quite literally caught in the middle. The safety of a maintenance building lies yards away, but to get there, you have to avoid gnashing teeth and deadly horns. You start running, and a button prompt appears on the screen. Execute it quickly enough and you reach the building unscathed, but where's the fun in that? Fail, and you find yourself skewered on the massive horns of the Triceratops.

"urassic Park creates and tells a side story to the one in the first film. After Nedry drops the shaving cream can full of embryos and gets himself killed, the company trying to steal the research sends in a mercenary to retrieve it. But, since the park's security has been turned off, park personnel and the mercernary find themselves fighting off the escaped dinosaurs who now roam freely, doing what they please. It seems like a very believable side plot that fits well within the existing story. "

I like it how they fit the story around the movie, good call, This game sounds promising, I could only hope it had more gore but hey, it will have to do.

can't wait for some gameplay, Jurassic Park is still my favourite film of all time

MARKUS_MAX1MUS4822d ago

seriously if youve ever noticed, EVERY reviewer that does a preview wont say anything bad about the game until sales day when the review comes in.

The game will be a dissapointment, mark my words because I promise you come release day it will be lackluster and will be poor.

Im a big JP fan, I grew up with the films but this will have an awful story, it might have big WOW theres a t-rex moments but it wont have the nostalgia of the JP series. FACT

telltale games is developing so it might be good

Leonesaurus4822d ago

Gee, way to go Mr. Enthusiastic... Hope you don't run into Captain Optimistic anytime soon.

I'm flabbergasted by how many people are taking a supersaurus-sized shit on this game preview simply from 1 trailer and hearing that it plays similarly to Heavy Rain.

What did you guys expect? It's Telltale and they're doing something unique with a Jurassic Park game for once. I'm looking forward to them concentrating more on key specific moments and interactions rather than running around shooting the shit out of everything with tranquilizer darts. I've been playing those JP games for YEARS and welcome anything new and innovative.

I'm thankful that there even IS a Jurassic Park game after.... a 10 year hiatus from the gaming world. You people should be happy too and give the game a "fair" chance, whether it turns out to be dino-droppings or dino-mite.

Instead you bitch and complain, just like everything else in this industry without giving things a chance or appreciating the fact that there even is a game for fans like myself after all these years.

@ leonesaurus

I dont want a FPS turok ripoff of JP either, what I want is an open world 3rd person dinosaur game were you dont even get guns, well you might be able to scrouge a rifle at best or a pistol.

I dont want a mindless JP shooter, Id like to see a lush open world which you can explore and give you that sense of wonder when you first seen the dinos on screen.

In the films theres a sense of adventure and exploration and I think a 3rd person open world game were you can explore the island would be more true to the films than a restrictive quick time event game were tou cant even control your own character.

By all means i dont want a Dino shoot em up, id prefer it to be like the only weapon you have against the dinosaurs is your brain and the environment.

How does it make you want to fail? right who dosent want to be caught in the middle of jurassic park and trying to escape from a T-rex ? anyone ?

MARKUS_MAX1MUS4822d ago

I want to be, but I want to do it myself and have full control over my character in an open world, not doing quicktime events so I can "watch"

M3t4lSn4k34822d ago

i agree that is what you want.. if they do some silly quicktime events that will spoil the game that will not make me purchase it atall.

RedDead4822d ago

There's room for both in my heart. Someone will eventually make a FPS JP game. It's only logical. It's like the inevitable Survival free roam Zombie game that hasn't been made yet for some reason. All the zombie films do it but no games have yet.

Until then though i'll settle for this, Heavy rain's quick time moment's are some of the most exciting moments in gaming. Adding dinosaurs to the mix can only make it better.

Sidewinder-4822d ago

I find it a little disapointing.

I'm sure that this was an original script for JP4. The use of Dennis' DNA can. The 'other' company that wants to steal it. It WAS an original idea for the new film.

Now it's a quicktime game. Great...

Black_Arrow4821d ago (Edited 4821d ago )

Very nice. I'm willing to give this a chance. Jurassic Park series is great. Loved all the movies. And I'll always remember the Lost World game back on PS1. Good times indeed.

If this has similar 'controls' as Heavy Rain, then consider me interested.

Every Jurassic Park Game Ranked From Worst To Best

BLG writes: "In 1993 Steven Spielberg took Michael Crichton’s novel about a dinosaur theme park and turned it into a cinema masterpiece. And ever since then every developer from Konami to Telltale has tried to make the films into a video game. The developers were so concerned with whether or not they could, they never stopped to consider whether they should. Welcome to every Jurassic Park Game ever made ranked from worst to best."

Dinosaurs once ruled the 🌎

ZeekQuattro642d ago

It's funny I was a big dinosaur fan as a kid but I only ever played JP 1 (NES), JP II (SNES) and JP Rampage Edition (Genesis). I really liked Rampage Edition as you got to play a raptor trying to escape the Island.

sourOG642d ago

I really enjoyed the evolution games. I platinumed both but I never got the dlc. That’s the planet coaster studio if I’m not mistaken. They are awesome, they brought that shit to consoles in a competent way. As a Jurassic park fan and a sim building fan it was a perfect match. Does anyone know if planet zoo if ever coming to consoles?

Profchaos641d ago

When I was a kid I saved up and brought the lost world game on PS1 all I ever wanted was to be a Trex let lose on the city like the end of the movie but man that difficulty I never made it past the 2nd level

ANIALATOR136641d ago (Edited 641d ago )

Back then with there being no Internet, you needed the codes to access the levels too. And if you didn't have them, you could always keep inputting nonsense into the search until something came up. I remember once inputting the right code for the t rex level but since I didn't write it down, I couldn't play it again when I died. These days it's nothing though to go back and play what you want, when you want.

Jurassic Park Sega CD wasn't even mentioned, so this list isn't "Every". Actually a pretty bad game, but I loved it because I was a JP obsessed kid! XD
