Kotaku: Back in 2005, Tokyo-based game maker Konami revealed it was working on a handful of titles for the then unreleased PS3. Games like Metal Gear Solid 4 and Gradius. MGS4 was released, but Gradius VI wasn’t.
And according to the latest issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu, the shooter’s apparently been canned. As blog Andriasang points out, the game was supposedly canceled in a 2007 issue of Famitsu, but the magazine later issued a correction.
The shmup genre is in need of a revival. With games like Thunderforce 6 available to the PS2 in JP it makes me upset it isnt being released elsewhere. Rtype final should not be the "final" rtype game in the series. And no...not a remake like rtype dimensions. A fresh new rtype is needed just like a new version of gaires or musha or possibly a new einhander.
There are many shmups that could be redone but they could also get well deserved sequels. Before the fps genre came into the picture, "shooter" was the moniker for the shmup games.
A space shooter for 2 bucks is a nice throwback to the glory days.
too bad indeed, Gradius is a great franchise and should have a ps360 release.
id enjoy a remake of G-darius. Now who remembers that game? Game was the best space shooter out there. Allowed you to absorb enemies and use their powers or turn them into a giant kamehameha wave lol... I need to go find it now
I would love to see the Guardian Legend for Nes remade.
