As you'll no doubt have seen yesterday, new Call of Duty developer, Sledgehammer has some pretty lofty ambitions for Call of Duty 8. Apart from review scores above 95 percent, it's also looking to create a "bug-free" experience.
While you might think that all developers are aiming to put out a product completely devoid of glitches, the reality is rarely the case and PlayStation 3 users will no doubt be able to testify against Black Ops being anything close to flawless from the off when it comes to multiplayer.
8CN: The world of game development is exceptionally cutthroat. While most games come and go with varying amounts of pomp and circumstance, some titles get big announcements but then never make it off the drawing board. These games are loosely organized under the term "vaporware," which, in layman’s terms, means that they are floating around in developmental hell, not officially cancelled but not about to see the light of day anytime soon.
The Last Guardian & Agent :'(
Still clinging on hoping they'll see the light of day on PS4 one day
David Vonderhaar has taken to twitter once again to talk about many different things that could possibly relate to the next Call Of Duty which Treyarch is making.
I haven't been super interested in Call of Duty for several years -- admittedly, however, that new logo is quite cool.
Warp Zoned writes:
"First off, it looks like it’s unlikely that a new Blizzard game will be released in 2011. That means no Diablo III and definitely no StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm. Instead, the publisher’s COO, Thomas Tippl, said to expect both games in 2012: “[O]ur outlook at this time does not include a new game from Blizzard in 2011. Should Blizzard not release a major title this year, we would expect, for planning purposes, to launch a minimum of 2 Blizzard titles in 2012.”"
Not a surprise, they are known to take ages to release games. I can wait for Diablo 3, if it means it will be as perfect as can be.
STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM MY DIABLO 3 DAMNED CALL OF DUTY CASH-IN BASTARDS! /rage off
While I didn't even expect to see this released this year (or the next) I'll still wait for an official report coming from Blizzard's own.
I haven't read this article in particular, but every other article recapping the Q1 statement has said that Blizzard will likely have the D3 beta this summer/fall and they are trying like Hell to get it released this year.
For 2012, I truly hope it (D3) rains only good golden drops that don't taste or feel like urine.
"The creative excellence and sheer scale of [CoD 8] and the unprecedented online universe that will accompany it will reset the bar for this genre..."
Reset the bar? It's been stuck in place for the past three years. I think I'll just rent it, play the story, then play something that won't make me want to punch an infant.
Activision, has nothing else to fall back on...
activision would rather release a game that doesn't work than delay.
Activision had COD and Guitar Hero. Everything else is canned or so undersupported it fails out. The only thing that would replace COD from Acti is the Bungie game but I doubt that would come anytime before 2012.
They can't afford to delay the next Call of Duty.
Seriously, what else are they coming out with this year? No new Guitar Hero. No new DJ Hero. No new Blizzard game.
All they've got is COD.
Not going to happen.....
