"As an aficionado of old school games, I hold the side-scrolling genre near and dear to my heart. With each new console generation, developers get more creative with how they handle this genre. I feel that the side-scroller genre is stronger now than it has ever been and is used in more creative ways than ever thought possible. Retro games had the formula right, but advances in gaming development has really brought new concepts to the genre and keeps it going strong..."

I’m just shocked that Square doesn’t do more Remakes of older IPs. Xenogears and Parasite Eve would be killer... although 3rd birthday does make me lose faith in Square being able to make a decent Parasite Eve game, but if they treated it like Capcom treated RE2 then it’d be incredible.

Trials HD is a side-scroller? Since when?
Also, isn't Bonk being tabled now, since Hudson Soft USA is no more?
Great list otherwise. Some of those games look mighty pretty indeed.
I completely agree with that. It's an old concept, but there's nothing wrong with it, so it's pretty much a mainstay.
Allen I was wondering about Trials HD too, I definitely wouldn't call it a side scroller. It's a 2D game, but "side scroller" is such a weird term that could apply to anything really. Not a bad list though.
Great read.
Who said anything about Trials HD?
