Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia HD Remakes Coming to Xbox 360

It looks as if the 360 will not be left out this time around when classic games are remastered in HD. According to the ESRB site, both the 360 and PS3 will be getting some HD collections this year.

this shouldn't be a surprise. it might be timed or something since we havnt herd about it yet?

FailOverHero4852d ago

Shock and Awe...Sony paid for timed exclusivity

badz1494852d ago

you really think Sony paid for those PoP HD remakes? with the PS3 exclusive lineups enough to warrant at least 2 games released per month this year, you really think Sony would care to pay for old games in HD? wake up dude! Ubi saw the success of GoW collection thus following Sony's footsteps into this thing! it's pretty much a given that Ubi is the one paying Sony so their old games to be on the PS3! Ubi is trying to shoot for easy money with PoP games thus the quality is nowhere near GoW or Sly collection at all!

Lucreto4852d ago

@FailOverHero

They might have needed extra time to try and squash 3 games with HD upgrades on smaller discs. The original xbox had more disc space than the 360 and if they filled the disc who will HD versions hold up.

jetlian4851d ago

compression better now than back then. First of all we don't know if this is real. Second it could be that they didn't see a need on xbox with backwards compatability

MrBeatdown4851d ago

You really are a moron. Why would a company who has the best exclusive line up of this generation pay for HD versions of old PS2 games?

why the hell would sony pay timed exclusive for old games -_-

Corrwin4852d ago

ESRB rated does not mean a release will happen for a while, if ever.

I seem to recall even Duke Nukem Forever was rated several times.

Though it would be foolish not to release then, it depends in MS already has the originals on the their store.

user8586214852d ago

am pretty sure it wont take 12 years to remaster an old game

Spydiggity4852d ago (Edited 4852d ago )

took that long for starcraft...

zing?

EDIT: I know the 4 PC fanboys will take offense to this joke. i like SC2 too. relax.

Corrwin4852d ago

You're missing the point that the games have already been remastered - POP Trilogy is on PS3 in EU now.

This has nothing to do with how difficult it is, it is a business decision, and how much money they can make.

HD collection makes sense on PS3 because there's no PS2 backwards comparability. Why bother releasing it on 360 when dedicated fans (the kind who would buy this) might already have the games in the original Xbox format?

Action GO FIGURE4852d ago (Edited 4852d ago )

LOL way to look for hits.

Real title for the article is "HD Collections Coming to Xbox 360! [rumor]" people!

Also, would you really trust a rating website? Can DVD-9 cater three games on one disk?

Aloren4852d ago (Edited 4852d ago )

Hits from who though ? 360 players who might be interested in the games ? or PS3 players who don't care but want to brag about BD ? you sure sound like the latter...

FailOverHero4852d ago

Rumour huh? Didn't the ps3 versions start off as rumours too? Just sayin

Corrwin4852d ago

>Can DVD-9 cater three games on one disk
Doubtful

The PS3 version installs itself to HD, as three seperate games (as if you had bought them via PSN). I think they take about 15gb in total, so it would need at least 2 DVDs, 3 if they wanted to maintain high DVD reading speeds.

Action GO FIGURE4851d ago (Edited 4851d ago )

@Aloren: Actually, I might get the Splinter Cell HD because I missed out the games for PS2. So I'm a PS3 player that cares but also wants to brag about BD. :D

Thanks for answering my questions...

/s

Out of you lot, Corrwin seems like the only one worth talking to.

Aloren4851d ago (Edited 4851d ago )

@Action GO FIGURE, i got pop collection and will probably get SC collection on PS3 too. So I'm not exactly against BD...still, no need to brag. Well, whatever, I'm not worth talking to anyway ;)

Splinter Cell Trilogy was excellent, as was the MGS HD collection. Stealth ftw!

I’d love to see a Ghost Recon/SOCOM/Rainbow Six collection as well, all great military franchises

Greatness Comes in Threes: Best Trilogies in Gaming - Part Four

Phil writes, "It's purely coincidental (though I'd love to take credit for the timing) that on the third day of the work week of this third month of the year that we see a new edition of Greatness Comes in Threes, where SuperPhillip Central looks at the best trio of related games-- some looser with the definition of "trilogy" than others.

The trilogy-- in movies it's a common occurrence with hugely successful blockbusters whether it's Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Toy Story, or Back to the Future. Trilogies are also pretty common in gaming as well, but at the same token, an actual good trilogy is a completely different matter. This article series details some of the very best trilogies that our hobby and industry have been able to create in its much shorter lifespan."

Jak trilogy will always be my favorite. Jak 3 is one of the best games ever made. It's a good story with lots of untold lore. Alot of variety in gameplay. Humorous.

Phil322609d ago

Made sure to cover Jak in a previous installment! While I didn't like Naughty Dog turning the series into a tryhard edgy series, the quality of the games gameplay-wise didn't really suffer. I do prefer Ratchet, though! :)

I still think that Metroid Prime trilogy is the best one

14 Games That Made The Worst Transition From 2D To 3D

Not every game made the transition to 3D as smoothly as Mario or Zelda. Here are 15 games that made the worst transition from 2D to 3D.

KwietStorm_BLM2797d ago

Why do you have a screen from Street Fighter X Tekken for Street Fighter EX?

gamerben2797d ago

Iirc you couldn't "move in a circle" in EX like the article states either

gamerben2797d ago

Lmao also, worms 3d wasn't even a first person shooter at all either... It was turned based like the original games... Someone didn't research

KwietStorm_BLM2797d ago

Yet I have 2 disagrees lol this site never ceases to amaze.

zodiac9092797d ago

@KwietStorm Don't you know this is not "News 4 Gamers" anymore, it's "Negativity 4 Gamers." A Place where if you say something complementary or ask for some helpful advice, no one gives 2 shits. But AS SOON AS you say something opinionated or controversial, get ready for a riot, mass homocide, and a lynchin' bro.

zodiac9092797d ago (Edited 2797d ago )

Uhh summa lumma dooma lumma

WheatBread2796d ago

The SF EX games were actually pretty good.

KwietStorm_BLM2796d ago

They didn't deserve to be printed on disc.

Bass_fisherman2796d ago (Edited 2796d ago )

This article could be made 10 years ago lmao

KaoSouL2796d ago

I actually played the Street Fighter EX games way more than I'll ever play SFV.
