Social shaming: My fear of FarmVille

With all of their updates and and annoyances, social-network-based games seem like a rather embarrassing pastime.

Can't say I like the constant updates on my Facebook either.

I dunno I mean it is no more annoying than people telling me that it is raining outside or that they are leaving for work.

Tell me about it...

Some people have to document their whole darn life on Facebook. The most annoying friends I try to ignore although I've been tempted to click the delete button more than a few times.

On topic: Social gaming would hardly be as shameful to play for everyone if notifications were turned off by default and in game progress wasn't pasted everywhere.

I find it hard to believe many hardcore(anyone on N4G) gamers play Farmvile/Cityville, etc simply because of the stigma attached to social/casual gaming. Or maybe its just me, I dunno :-p

honestly it has helped gaming a good bit. I know a lot of people that I convinced to play games with me because they started on farmville ect. Its an introduction atleast. Ill never play it though lol

We’re seeing it now with Fortnite and the Battle Royale craze, but this isn’t a new thing. Let’s blow in the cartridges and revisit some of the most potent fads in video game history.

Street Fighter II was released in '91 not '87.

Kokyu2167d ago

He obviously meant street fighter.

I thought that too until he mentioned "paradigm change" with the addition of a competitive two-player mode. Obvious fumble, and we all do it, but it's a pet peeve that I should work on.
