Last.FM to require a monthly subscription, except on Xbox and Windows Phone 7

Bad news if you enjoy Last.fm on your "iPhone, Android device, Logitech Squeezebox, Sonos system, Revo AXiS, Ikon, Domino or Heritage device, Roberts Stream 63i, 205, Colourstream and 83i radios, Teufel machine, Onkyo AV receiver and Denon and Marantz AV receivers"-- your Last.fm will now require a subscription service. Good news though if you use Last.fm on Windows Phone 7 and Xbox--it's still free for our side. Oh snap.

"will remain free on the Last.fm website in the US, UK and Germany"

I believe that the majority of people that read this are unaffected.

TBM4827d ago

i rock pandora on my droid 2, tried last fm once and found that they censored songs so i uninstalled it.

Kamikaze1354827d ago

Don't you need a gold membership on the Xbox? Not sure if you do or not,I'm asking. If you do, then you're still paying for it.

FailOverHero4827d ago (Edited 4827d ago )

You do need Gold. But not for windows phone 7 though.

tdrules4827d ago

you have to put up with Windows Phone 7

Soldierone4827d ago

And Pandora still exists...

Either way I wasnt happy that MS decided to abandon the Zune HD I bought so I wont be buying a Windows Phone just because Last.FM doesnt have subscriptions. Im sure Ms will pull other moves to take stuff away from Iphone and Android but I still dont care.

Support the damn HD. We should all be given free Windows phones for the lack of apps the HD has had.

NoobSessions4827d ago

I somewhat agree with you, people expected more apps to come from MS. But thats because MS kept its app development basically 1st party, and no where near as open as WinMo7. MS never promised an app store to rival Apple's already gigantic library with the Zune HD. But I agree, I expected more.

Soldierone4827d ago

The only problem is what else do you expect when these factors come in

-It boasts apps and app store on the box.
-Zune had tons of user created "apps" that couldnt work on HD
-They open development for Windows phone Apps, and update the software so those apps dont work with HD
-The handheld/mp3 market is run by app based products

MS even said that its their handheld gaming system and yet all we got was a bunch of racing games. Why are we spending 300 dollars on just an MP3 player?

The internet doesn't support flash or any type of video playback at all, let alone its clunky as hell. It had tons of issues that were never addressed because they wanted everyone to go buy a windows phone instead. Too bad that turned into a lot more Android users and Iphone supporters.

I was a HUGE Zune supporter until half the features being offered were exclusive to Zune AND Xbox users, so i ended up wishing i supported something else.

*googles pandora*

"We are deeply, deeply sorry to say that due to licensing constraints, we can no longer allow access to Pandora for listeners located outside of the U.S."

-.-

Quagmire4827d ago

"You're not in Kansas anymore, you're on Pando- err, nevermind"

SilverSlug4827d ago

US isn't effected, thus this means nothing to me. I save money buy using Android and not having Gold. Go me.

"Oh yeah! I'm so going to get that!

I don't know if the blind hate is directed towards Microsoft or Angry Birds, but you DO realize that it's going to get millions of downloads, right?

Not saying I'm a fan, just saying that because we don't like something doesn't mean it's going to fail.

a_bro4009d ago

i think he's directing that hate towards the game itself, not microsoft.

it has to do with the game's casual focus, and how investors are stating that games like these are the future, even though they suck.
