wtf $43.10????? thats way too expensive i would buy it if its $20

Husso6081d ago

Before some tools cry about it.

Its the same price that GT4 prologue cost, and GT5p has ONLINE.

Evil0Angel6081d ago

it could feature the damage system,

who set the pricing ? is it sony or turn 5 ?

6081d ago
Chris_GTR16081d ago

thats the beauty of blueray disks right there. so expensive to make they gotta raise the price of demos on them to the price of full games.

RuffRyder6081d ago

SO THE 360 IS MAXED OUT GRAPHICALLY LOL!!!!!! OK SO A CONSOLE WITH A 512MB UNIFIED SHADER ARCHITECTURE NEXTGEN GPU IS MAXED OUT BUT ITS ONLY THE BEGINGING FOR AN OOOOOLD AND LAST GEN 256MB GPU!! WOW THE SONY FANBOYS LOGIC IS GETTING BETTER AN BETTER.

SWORDF1SH6081d ago

@ruffrider and secret. keep it to the subject and stop flamin. btw ruffrider. the ps3 is made totally different to the 360 so you wouldnt have a hope in hell in knowin which is better. its not a straight foward comparison. early signs shows the ps3 as more potential because of the quality of the earlier games compared to the quality of the early games on the 360. but who knows. i suggest jus keep your fanboyism thoughts to yourself and jus sit back and enjoy your own console.

popup6081d ago

Everybody today seems to judge whether a title is worth the money by how long it lasts and can keep you entertained for.

How many hours could you get out of this 'demo'?

MaximusPrime6081d ago

This is just a rumour. We need FURTHER Evidence.

The price is not even on the picture itself.

SonySoldiers6081d ago (Edited 6081d ago )

No it's True.

If you don't have money to buy one then just save your money and stick to whatever PS3 games you have now.

Sony needs more money to develop new spectacular games like Lair, Heavely Swords, and Warhawk. We hope you understand our crisis. Thanks for the cooperation.

achira6081d ago (Edited 6081d ago )

but this demo is better than anything on the 360. so i think it is worth it. edit: yes i have already played it at the gc. and it is the best racer ever! and no its not a demo its a full game.

kooplar6081d ago

wtf are u crazy. 40 bucks for a demo. I think im having more fun in the COD4 beta for free than i would in a 40 dllr demo.

AngryHippo6081d ago (Edited 6081d ago )

....you played it?whats it like?i'm guessing you have played it because you said its better than anything on the 360. I'm not denying the fact that it looks amazing but i think i will wait until i see it being played by people rather than these nicely put together clips or replays

EDIT- on topic....it does seem a bit expensive, its a wait an see, it might be worth it, it might not, too early to tell

MrBIGGLES6081d ago

Dude you must be still in middle school.

ArmrdChaos6081d ago

Get used to this...one of the ways Sony will subsidize their "Free" online. Guess what the beta of COD4 cost? NOTHING.

Mu5afir6081d ago

It cost you $50 to play that game ONLINE.. or did you forget?

ArmrdChaos6081d ago (Edited 6081d ago )

I actually paid 45 dollars which ensures that I will get ALL my demos for free. No it is actually pretty hypocritical for Sony backers (not all) saying that we shouldn't have to pay for LIVE but at the same time are willing to defend the $40 charge for a demo that should have been free. In the end if you buy the demo and full version you will end up paying $90+ for the same game. The real reason they are doing this is because they are light on headliner games this holiday season and GT won't be fully done until 2008. They put the thing out half done in attempt to try and claim it as another game in their inventory for holiday PR. This should have been a free demo because they should be making all their dev costs back when they sell the final version.

ER1X6081d ago

Gee, I paid 0 dollars and 0 cents for the Warhawk beta. What's your point?

If you honestly think this will be a demo then this conversation need not go any further.

ArmrdChaos6081d ago (Edited 6081d ago )

Let me simplify the statement...you're going to pay for the same game (or at least 2/3 of it) twice all for the sake of Sony adding one more game to their Xmas list. Tell me that Prologue is not going to be a subset of GT5 Full. Now if Sony would only charge $20 for Prologue owners to upgrade to GT5 Full when it comes out then that is a different story.

IN THE END THEY WILL MAKE THEIR DEVELOPMENT COST BACK ON THE FINAL PRODUCT (GT5 Full)...so you shouldn't have to pay for this.

Now the conversation ends...anything else is a waste of time.

ER1X6081d ago

That's got nothing to do with your beta comment. I've never paid for a beta and I've never paid for a demo.

You are right they are milking more money from the consumer but what company doesn't? All of these "special editions" and marketing ploys are just ways to get more money out of the consumer. This is nothing new and Sony certainly isn't the only one who has done it.

Each of the big 3 console makers get you in there own way. We could sit here and go back and forth for hours and not get anywhere. If you think it's a ripoff, don't buy it. I'm not even saying that I think it's right or wrong but don't act like it's some kind of atrocity that's never occurred in gaming history. We get nickle and dimed all the time (whichever console we play).

LSDARBY6081d ago (Edited 6081d ago )

Thats not that bad a price, this game is being released on disk so that is probably the disk version price. And when you think about it theres more game here than motorstorm. Theres more cars, more modes, major Home intergration and maybe more tracks (i dunno how many tracks there are. And its got way better graphics. So thats a good deal tbh.

And Sony have kept saying this isnt a demo its a full game. and we dont know everything thats gonna be included yet.

spammy_nooo6081d ago

im going to buy it. plenty of cars and tracks to constitute a full game, AND its 33% cheaper than any new game out there for the ps3. not too shabby if you think about it.

The only reason it seems so expensive is because it doesnt live up to the full gt5 game, and thats because its a PROLOGUE.

fenderputty6081d ago

It's more then half the price for less then half the full game. I won't even compare this to motorstorm either. While I LOVE GT, motorstorm is the most intence racing game I've ever played.

spammy_nooo6081d ago

I'm just saying it's worth it to ME, and many other people out there as well. I'm anxious to see the graphics on my HDTV and in real-time, so I'm going to buy this game.

fenderputty6081d ago

I'm not knockin' you. I just don't get paying for less then half of the full game when the full game is coming out within' the year.

BTW .... I did not disagree with you.

spammy_nooo6081d ago

I understand. sorry if I came off a bit defensive, though.

free to play no matter how good the game is if it is a free to play i dont play.

i want to pay full price for a full balanced experience unlocks shouldn't be earned by money but by the hard work you put in the game.

my free to play nightmares are borderlands, diablo, titanfall,w arhawk 2,halo and star wars battlefront.

SteamPowered3735d ago

If you have ever played Path of Exile, that is the best way of microtransactions ever. PoE is a great game. Its what Diablo 3 should have been and it is completely free. All the items for purchase are cosmetic and the store isnt intrusive at all. In fact, I had to actually look in the menu to find where the microtransactions are housed.
But for the most part, yes. F2P is garbage.

iceman063735d ago

I would add Warframe to that list as well. Very much like you describe. Everything that you need is offered to you in game. Things that you pay for are either cosmetic or for convenience (i.e., you are impatient). Might not be the game for you, but the F2P structure is pretty sound.

caseh3735d ago

At which point did Titanfall become free to play hmmmm...

ThatArtGuy3735d ago

He's not saying that they are, he's saying it would be horrible if they were.

caseh3735d ago

He should have said 'would be' rather than 'are' I guess.

lonelyplayer3735d ago

Hey I agree 100% with you. I hate those unbalanced pay-to-win games.

maniacmayhem3735d ago

I agree.

The whole F2P model is designed to keep the user playing and paying well past an ordinary retail price. Most devs also design features that prey on a person's gambling, need to collect or complete an objective as soon as possible type of vice.

Trust I worked at Zynga and you should read the design tricks and tactics used to squeeze every penny out of their user base.

Yes, every company has their tactics but the F2P design in most video games is so blatant and disgusting. I stay away from those games...well I try but that damn Marvel Alliance... :(

gamer20133734d ago

A great example of a game that features the blood sucking F2P model would be Warthunder.

ExCest3735d ago

The Valve f2p model is really good. You don't have to pay a dime or grind for hours to get items to boost your "skills". You just happen to want more hats so you pay money for them.

Prime1573735d ago (Edited 3735d ago )

Edit: I'm just not sure it's so simple as lumping free to play as bad....

That's pay to win which is a derivative of free to play, and which is also very common amongst AAA $60 retail games. The $60 lures you into a false sense of free.

There are games attempting many facets of the free to play model and some are pretty good, like planet side, some private servers, team fortress, DOTA and warframe WHERE you literally never (have to) spend anything - I didn't on planet side 2 with 20+ hours, and similar with warframe.

There are also some like killer instinct and warframe (KEYWORD: CROSSOVER) where it's basically a glorified demo. KI has only one/two characters, and warframe trenches you into a character you might not like in a little (but least you can build a new one several hours later).

Then there are the worst of the worst where you have to pay to win. Sometimes it's by buying upgrades to your gear like in runes of magic, or buying overly expensive increased experience in leveling grinding games like Rohan: Blood Feud.

Where I'm coming from: I had a free to play phase where I played (in no particular order but memory):

ragnarok (both subscribed before free to play, and free to play), path of exile, dragons nest, cloud nine, holic, requiem: bloodymare, runes of magic, tribes, warframe and planetside 2 (pre-ps4), blacklight, dcuo, dragon's nest, maple story, runes of magic, Farmville, clash of clans, team fortress 2 (actual, I bought it that long ago), dota, league of legends, lotr online, minecraft, wizard 101, dungeon fighter, many aria and net gear games, perfect world...

And many more that I can't remember because I don't want to.... And by played, I would say I spent more than 5+ hours (but mainly 20+ on aforementioned titles) on each of those game listed above, sometimes hundreds.

Worst business practices

Paying to play online (PS+, XBL)
Season passes
disc locked content
Paid DLC (DLC should be free unless it is significant enough to be an expansion)

Jubez1873735d ago

Paying to Play Online: It's a service. A TV is a product, cable is a service. A playstation is a product, PS+ is a service. How many services do you get for free? I'm sure you pay a cellphone bill as well.

Season Passes: I 100% agree on here. Never pay for anything that is not guaranteed to be coming.

Paid DLC: No one says you have to buy it. If it's cosmetics or trivial things such as Themes and Avatars there's no problem with it. You don't HAVE to buy it. It takes resources to MAKE dlc. Why would a company (video game companies are profit maximizers, btw) go and make a whole DLC questline or storyline and then give it to you for free? That brings ZERO marginal revenue to the company. I know it sounds great, and companies that do it are great. But the suits up top, yea they don't care. That's just business. Just because you bought an entre doesn't mean the dessert is going to be free. And AGAIN, you don't have to buy it or support it.

Imalwaysright3735d ago (Edited 3735d ago )

Games are NOT services. We pay full price for them and that means that we should be able to play 100% of their content with no additional cost.

crusf3735d ago

"Paid DLC" Then people complain no DLC is coming for there particular system or game.

Prime1573735d ago (Edited 3735d ago )

I agree with you mostly, but I disagree with ps+...

I bought into that in 2011 and don't regret it. It's like Sega channel, but feasible.

Maybe I just play too many games, so ps+ makes sense.. Like the payday 2, remember me, bioshock infinite, outlast, and more in the last month or two... I would have had to spend an easy few hundred on those games I wanted to play.

Jubez1873735d ago

As a business student, I have to disagree heavily with some points.

_FantasmA_3735d ago (Edited 3735d ago )

Paying to use your own internet, DLC (all of it, I'd rather have expansion packs with a ton of content), DLC coming out a week after the game's release, incomplete games with missing sections sold as DLC, pre order bonuses, short and pointless campaigns, not having server lists (like COD which insert you into random games and maps), expensive and permanent digital prices, yearly sequels with minor changes at full price, lack of challenging AI, lack of originality, and most of Micro$ofts "business practices." This may sound like a hateful statement, but I blame M$ for bringing most of these things to consoles. I remember when there free and inexpensive map packs on Live in the early years of 2006 and 2007, then they started pinching pennies.

MaxwellBuddha3735d ago

Who else here has been gaming long enough to remember when paying $50 got you the WHOLE game? No left-out content sold as DLC, disc-locked content, season passes, outfits, avatars, etc.

Excuse me, I need to go have a cry at what has happened to my beloved hobby.

Derekvinyard133735d ago

Amen brother, plus there wasn't as much bugs as there was today. Nearly 80% of games have patches

Vegetarianshark3735d ago (Edited 3735d ago )

Ea happened,Capcom happened these giant shameless corporations has bastardized the gaming industry with their BS money-grabbing tactics and ruined so many amazing games (Battlefield,Resident evil and many more).Very sad indeed.
