A demo of the WiiWare, retro-inspired game, Urbanix is now available as a free down in the north American Wii Shop.
The early '80s was a revolutionary time for gaming yet not every classic from that era is as celebrated as it should be. Taito's Qix is an often imitated arcade gem so let's take a look at why it's such a legendary game.
"This isn't the first time where a WiiWare game takes inspirations from an existing title yet fails to measure up to a certain standard. Urbanix follows the trend of other WiiWare titles that have taken off from games belonging to previous eras, but are practically devoid of fun. Really, there aren't many positive things to say about this game, leaving it to be cast in a somewhat negative light." -- Wiiloveit.com

Core Urbanix’s gameplay is a mixture between Xonix and Qix – you control a tiny little tractor that needs to conquer the playfield. When you are travelling over the unoccupied land, you leave a trail. If the trail is hit by an enemy or yourself – you lose a life. Very simple, yet deep gameplay.
