2011 is a exciting year with upcoming games such as Gears of War 3, Ghost Recon and of course the latest Call of Duty.
Infinity Ward are playing some part in the co-development of MW3 with ‘Sledgehammer games’ and ‘Raven Software’ the lead developers which is rumoured to be released this November 2011.

Ill pass on this unless they change the series from the ground up,

hamburger1234836d ago (Edited 4836d ago )

I dont think thats gonna happen

Anarki4836d ago

I'll pass on this based on the lame port of black ops to ps3.

Pixelated_Army4836d ago (Edited 4836d ago )

I'll pass on this based on all the COD games I've played in the past.

FD4836d ago

i'll pass on that one. After the last bs Activision/Treyarch pulled with Cod on the ps3 they have lost me for good. Too bad bc i really used to like the franchise a lot and bought almost all titles for multiple platforms. But i will no longer fill their pockets while they treat us like dirt and think they can get away with selling us half assed betas. It's time we speak up to them with our wallets...

Corepred44836d ago

I'll buy it if its more like mw2 (which i loved) and nothing at all like treyarchs w@w or blops. of course i'll wait to see if its buggy or not just like i did with blops and it turns out it was the best decision to wait and not buy it. infinity ward just knows how to make a better cod game. mw2 was glitchy then for a long while it was perfectly fine on the ps3 side, i know xbox had a lot of hackers on it but it didn't affect me. come on, let there be a beta!

Biggest4836d ago

I hope most people pass. Isn't Gears of War 3 out around the same time anyway? I'm pretty sure that'll be a MUCH better game. Screw Call of Duty.

AAACE54836d ago

I only like the IW made CoD games. I kept trying to give Treyarch chances, but their games suck! I still play MW 2 more than Black Ops.

I wish I hadn't have bought Black Ops, but I was lucky enough to have a computer glitch at the store and only paid $8 for it along with Halo reach as a trade in, so I don't feel too bad about it... Still want to get rid of it though!

CrazzyMan4836d ago

This new game still will sell over 10 mln., no matter what you say people. It`s a BRAND.

And no matter what, i still will play(try) it, but not going to buy it.))

HappyGaming4836d ago

MW3 with a new shiny engine and just a few minor glitches would actually be an amazing game.

But that is not happening :-/

Anyway I hope they keep in the 3rd person mode or there is no chance that I will buy it.

TheLastGuardian4836d ago (Edited 4836d ago )

"2011 is a exciting year with upcoming games such as Gears of War 3, Ghost Recon and of course the latest Call of Duty."

Gears 3 is the only title out of those 3 that anyone should be excited for. 2011 has tons of way better games than CoD or Ghost Recon.

Oh my god. Get that ugly peice of shit MW3 logo off of that Twisted Metal mushroom cloud. Twisted Metal is one of the greatest series of all time and Call of Duty sucks ass now. Then to rub salt in the wound it's on a 360 box. Twisted Metal has nothing to do with 360 or CoD.

Kurt Russell4836d ago (Edited 4836d ago )

I wonder what controversial dim wit stunt will happen to get all the free press this year... May throw in an islamic terrorist scene when you blow up on a train or take pilot lessons. This series is horse turd that keeps suckering in the same sheep time and time again.

FrankMcSpank4836d ago

Uncharted 3, Gears 3, ES V: Skyrim, and Mass Effect 3 are coming in Nov. If another 15mil idiots rush out and pass up on 4 AAA GotY titles for COD, I think I'll flip.

jeseth4836d ago

Unfortuantely no matter how much hardcore gamers protest and complain about COD . . . This game is gonna sell a TON!

MW2 was so popular and still is. The casual gamer that doesn't play a ton of games (which is the avg. videogame consumer) will always buy the next COD because it is COD. Period. COD has become a cultural phenomenon that isn't going to stop anytime soon.

Like I said, for better or worse. MW3 will sell more than any other COD game. . .

Soldierone4835d ago

too bad infinity ward isn't making it....or id buy it. I dont care if thy are "co developing" thats just saying thier name is gonna be slapped on it to sell more.

KillerBBs4835d ago

If they made black ops work on line correctly i would buy it again. I don't care who makes it... just as long as it works online this time.

Say what you want: everyone is going to buy this title... doesn't mean it will be good but youll buy it.

Note to self: don't get games with the World at War engine.

ABizzel14835d ago

With IW not soloing it, my guess is that they're working on a completely new franchise for Activision.

I am proud to say my last COD purchase was Modern Warfare.

Fooled me once.

tman6924836d ago

As was mine. :) My bro was dumb and had to get it though. Now it's in the house :( He's 14 BTW....ya.

JLeVRT4836d ago

CoD1,2 and 4 were the only good CoD games... Infinity Ward is much better than treyarch anyway...

Eamon4836d ago (Edited 4836d ago )

I'm also proud to say MW1 was my last purchase.

Watch all these N4G haters change their minds at the last minute when IGN and other big journalists receive the delicious Activision cheque to rate the game a 9.5.

All those claiming to "pass" on MW3 will be first in queue to get it. As what happened with WoW and BO.

antz11044836d ago

How did it fool you once? Modern Warfare 1 was awesome.

joydestroy4836d ago (Edited 4836d ago )

screw this franchise now. you can throw the IW name out there all you want. those of use who followed the situation know that those guys, the original ones, are now Respawn Entertainment. Activision is just cranking crap out now. i won't buy another one. no way.

they aren't bringing anything new to the table, to the genre.
pass.

@hamburger
you're right, they are

hamburger1234836d ago

They actually bring the genre down TBH...

SkywayAvenue4836d ago

I agree completely, this article makes it sound like the fact that the name is still infinity ward that it will be the same, but when the majority of people from IW are now at Respawn Entertainment, it might as well be a completely different studio making it.

trancefreak4836d ago

I guess treyarch will be handling future warfare 11-2012 and the saga continues.

I hope mw3 is going back to its roots I loved such missions as the sniper one in Chernobyl.

multips3fan4836d ago

lol why buy black ops DLCs if another cod is going to come out this year?

WharenPeace4836d ago

I sadly fell for the COD Blops hype, but I'll pass on MW3. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!

K3nji4836d ago

if that really was the front cover...can the imagination stretch further then just another NUKE???

MarcusFenixITA4836d ago

COD started with a big explosion and goes down with a silenced weapon. No more COD anymore for me. The last one was MW2 I bought and I really had my fun but you should end the war when everything is said and done. Another franchise milked to the death ...

xX-StolenSoul-Xx4836d ago

What a Suprise November 2011?!?! Just like all the call of dutys before it? this guy must be a wizard

Vherostar4836d ago

Wow who couldnt work this date out looking back on previous releases??? New COD every year now people!

DirtyLary4836d ago

I've gotta pass too. I think this game play has run it course. I'm done with the tiny rat mazes and musical chairs rotation of staying ahead of the player spawns gameplay.

tacosRcool4835d ago

I jumped off the Call of Duty train a long time ago...

Rynx4835d ago

Like I did with World at War, Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops, I'll do the same with this game.... Not buy it!

FrigidDARKNESS4837d ago

i will pass on this one will enough shooters on my ps3 and 360.....GEOW3 is releasing that month.

Rage_S904836d ago

lol oh the irony of that comment.......

duplissi4835d ago

how so? gears doesnt come out every year...

2006 gears 1
2008 gears 2
2011 gears 3.

Rage_S904835d ago

he complains about shooters then buys gears thats why

lugia 40004837d ago

Most people will say "pass" but they make such great trailers and people will really believe its actually the cod they were looking for.

ddurand14836d ago

they get me everytime.

i dont plan on taking killzone 3 out of my console for a while though.

Bnet3434836d ago

They get a lot of people. I know the cool thing is to say "COD sucks" but I actually enjoyed MW2 and Black Ops and I am not ashamed to admit I 1000'd both games. In no way are they perfect, every game has it's flaws, but they're enjoyable IMO. I know it's mindless killing, especially on Nuketown, but it's fun to me. I'm out.

ddurand14836d ago

bnet

what people dont understand or want to acknowledge is how accessible and easy it is to play.

If I have 30 mins inbetween classes i can play 4-5 matches on black ops and then just leave.

its quick, mindless and fun. nothing wrong with that.

gamingdroid4835d ago (Edited 4835d ago )

Based on the comments here (way further up), you would think nobody buys this game. However, they sell mega loads every year. Personally, I'm probably going to get it because there is alack of alternatives that are better. Plenty of crappy shooters released every year though...

So I think the formula works. Why change something that is working?

So this year, it will be Bulletstorm, Gears of War 3 and CoD:MW3. Maybe KZ3....

That's only in the shooter department though. Still hoping for a NG3 this year and even more hope that it will be good!

andrew1719944836d ago

the only good cods were 1, and 4; the rest noob friendly:)

andrew1719944836d ago

i thought i put it in there my kb is bein sloppy

BShea4837d ago

Is anyone surprised? It'll either has a release date of 11/15/11 or 11/8/11.

Led-Zeppelin4836d ago

The COD franchise should take a 2 year break so they can improve.

awesomeperson4836d ago

Lol. Improve.

IMO if they did do that they would just add in more maps to the MP, and probably charge a bit extra.

NoobJobz4835d ago

But how would Bobby make any money if he took 2 years off?

JLeVRT4836d ago (Edited 4836d ago )

Honestly... IW isnt the same company anymore. Fuck Activision, im goin with Respawn.

DigitalRaptor4837d ago

I don't get why people get so excited for shooters on a yearly... no wait, more like monthly basis.

I'm glad I'm not one of those people who only likes shooters - that would be epicly BORING! Give me some variety any day.

spektical4836d ago

FPS have variety.. the narratives give them just that. maybe in terms of ludology its all the same..

MidnytRain4836d ago

There's only a lack in variety if you're not looking in the right places.

Players claim Fortnite ruined Call of Duty by letting in more corporate greed

Do you remember what gaming was like before Fortnite entered the gaming space? One of the biggest arguments was about loot boxes. Now we have conversations about crossovers, battle passes, and community outreach.

gamesandwich.com
GoodGuy0911d ago (Edited 11d ago )

Idk. Loot boxes did disappear and battle passes and in game purchases are all cosmetic. We get free weapons and maps post launch, any gameplay affecting content. I could care less about all the cosmetics.
I absolutely hated the days where weapons were locked behind a less than 1% chance lootbox pull where it'd take 5+ hours to have enough tokens to do a single pull and lazy remastered/remake maps cost you $15 each wave or $50 for the season pass that you didn't know what you'd get and these maps were only available to those that bought it so you get a smaller pool of players match with.

Tacoboto10d ago

The "good ole days" are actually what drove me away from COD and Halo 3/Reach. Halo 4 becoming a COD-like drove me away from that only a week or so after it launched and I beat its campaign.

It sucked way back then, going a month or two without playing online-shooter-of-the-moment, and then needing to buy a $15 map pack to play with the majority of the population or your favorite playlist. The "community" rejecting Spartan Points in MCC killed that game's support, too. No revenue = no support, plain and simple.

Cacabunga10d ago

That headline could easily be something Spencer could have said 😅 I had to check if it was really an opinion piece

KyRo10d ago

As times gone on, the COD battle pass has got ALOT worse so they can push people to buy the more premium battle pass which itself is a huge rip off and nearly half the price of the base game.

The cosmetics can be fine but they've taken it to far to the point of no return. Why make a military themed game then have rabbits, dinosaurs, cats, rats & z list rappers as skins? You wouldn't add a Lamborghini to a fantasy RPG to replace a horse and you would never see Mario have limb dismemberment because they know what they are. COD is having identity crisis but kids and streamer but then all

franwex10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

Call of duty can simply not copy the bad aspects of Fortnite? Or is that too out of this world? Like COD, a realistic shooter-just HAD to have Nicki Minaj running around? Or super heroes?

Inverno10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

Exactly! Trends don't all need to be followed. Plus where Fortnite got somewhat better with it's monetization, Acti got worse. Or at least Fortnite has lended itself more to the wacky stuff, and has put more effort and quality into that stuff.

jjb198110d ago

I prefer the battle passes with free maps than the $50 season pass that divided the community. I definitely feel that Fortnite had some influence on CoD having loot boxes with Blackout being introduced in 2018 with Black Ops 4.

PRIMORDUS10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

Actually Fortnite bullshit ruined Unreal Tournament. Epic are sellouts and I will never have that shitty store on my PC, fuck them and that shit bag Tim Sweeney. At least the community keeps the games alive, I still play UT2004.

StoneTitan9d ago

I mean cant really blame them for supporting the game that made them the most money and the most people player...ever?

Psychonaut8510d ago

Call of Duty ruined Call of Duty. They needed no outside assistance.

Ra30309d ago

100% correct! The makers of Call of Duty ran out of ideas long, long ago so they take ideas from other games like Ghost Recon, Fortnite and any other FPS game hat had success hell CoD remasters maps that they've remastered several times already then charge you again for it. Call of Duty is simply a cut, copy and paste and then put the $70 price on it every year. Activision and now Microsoft has been essentially remastering Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare every year since it was released in 2007 its to the point it's worse than the sports game like the Madden, NBA and others yearly sports franchises.
@Psychonaut85 is spot on "Call of Duty ruined Call of Duty. They needed no outside assistance"!

Morons that allow themselves to be milked continuously by this company is the definition of irony.
Spend more $$ and you'll end up In easier lobbies so you win both ways when ya spend that cash

melons17d ago

Controversy in the COD community feels like it happens within an alternate timeline. Activision will take the piss with something, there will be a momentary fuss about it, and then they will forget about it and carry on anyway. Repeat this cycle literally every year for the rest of time.

Gridknac17d ago

They call that a crack head! Thats what this is really about, its an addiction. People who dont smoke cigarettes look and laugh at the addicts that spend $8-$10 a pack, but they cant help themselves, they are addicted. That same analogy applies perfectly to the whole MT industry. Only an addict that was not thinking clearly would spend this kind of money on something so frivolous. A round of multiplayer provides the same high a person gets from scratching a lotto ticket, or putting money on a sports bet. MT in general need to really be regulated because you have a generation of kids becoming adults who grew up only knowing the MT era of gaming. Its normal to them and they will in turn teach their kids the same by just being a gaming parent and getting their kids involved with them in gaming. Thats why no matter how ridiculous the headlines keep getting out of the MT industry, it never seems to fade or go away.

X-2316d ago

I'm so tired of hearing about what they're doing with this game, its never going to change and it's never going to value the consumer over money, furthermore the people who engage so heavily in the microtransactions I guess allegedly are having a blast and can't wait to do it some more this year when the new version of the game drops.
