TGV: Hey, make a new Panzer Dragoon game!

With revivals, reboots and reincarnations of classic games hitting modern consoles left and right, it only seems fair to want to revive one of the absolute best experiences SEGA had the pleasure of offering to the world on a console that died too young—Panzer Dragoon.

Unfortunately, as I mentioned in the article, Project Draco is *not* a Panzer Dragoon game. Yukio Futatsugi as well as Microsoft Game Studios VP Phil Spencer have said as much.

Mystogan4851d ago

they did say it was inspired by Panzer Dragoon so fans of the Panzer Dragoon series will probably like it.

They could utilize the Move for flight controls, but obviously make it optional.

Saga was one of the best RPG's I have ever played....It trumped Final Fantasy 7 for me. Someone below asked if the games were on Dreamcast...the answer is no...the first 3 Panzer Dragoon games were on the Sega Saturn.....the 4th game, Orta, was on the original Xbox. Would love to see an HD remake of Saga...or any of them for that matter...still one of my favorite series of games.

Oooh, I just figured out what mine is going to be.

One can dream.

Orta was one of our favourite ever gaming experiences.

Orta had some really great strong points, but I felt that it wasn't quite as good as the rail Panzer Dragoon games that preceded it.

It had all the things that made the other games good, but something about it felt...off?

So far, the best on-rails incarnation of the series is Zwei, hands down.

I thought Orta was a really solid game. There were a few deviations that definitely felt odd, like messing with the camera in awkward ways. Personally, it was my favorite in the series because it felt a bit faster than the others.

I gotta say, I never liked the on rails, Panzer Dragoon game (that was on the Dreamcast, right?) I remember I wanted to like it, and it looked pretty enough but the gameplay to me was simply ho-hum. Fly through a cavern on rails. Shoot. Repeat. I don't even remember, was there a story, or upgrades or anything to this game even?

Finally an article on this site that's actually WORTH reading.

Sidology4850d ago

Haha, I feel incredibly complimented. Really!

JAMurida4848d ago

I'll always show respect to those who still talk about the games that the gaming world for some reason forgot about or just didn't acknowledge all together. Just the lack of comments on this topic is just an example of how many people don't know about how great this game is or that it even existed. One could only wish for a sequel or HD remake of the Panzer Dragoon games, but in an industry that is pretty much nothing but shooter shooter shooter, the chances of such an innovative game that breaks the "usual" that people have come to expect from games these days are very low. I sometimes think the age of fantasy adventure games is coming to an end but who knows...

On another note, after thinking about it for a while, Panzer Dragoon's gameplay style could be compatible with the PS Move or Wii controls.

Panzer Dragoon Saga sequel please! I swear their are so many great games that deserve to be franchises.

Sega sells Relic and will cut 240 jobs across UK studios

GamesIndustry.biz writes: "Relic is best known for the Company of Heroes and Dawn of War games, and recently developed the new Age of Empires for Microsoft. Relic will transition to an independent studio and will no-longer be part of the Sega group of studios.

The majority of the 240 job cuts are across Creative Assembly and Sega Europe, while there will be a ‘small number’ cut from Sega HARDLight. There was no mention of other Sega UK studios, including Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive."

Shame about Creative Assembly, they should have just been allowed to do an Alien Isolation sequel.

just_looken44d ago

It was that garbage coh 3 that did them in only a special team can make a sequel worse in every way even though it was a 10 year gap and the same era.

gold_drake44d ago

I hope they find new jobs in the industry soon.

Jingsing44d ago

Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive probably run on a shoe string budget so that fits into SEGA better lol
