NCAA Football 08: Disk Unreadable, Experience Unbearable, Oversight Inexcusable…

Sure thing stevo, and I bet all those "display copies" of the game you try to pass off to angry customers that bring the game back in asking for another copy to try are really just display copies. No, there is no way they are other copies of the game that other frustrated gamers returned due to the same issue most likely.

I rented the game, got 700/1000 Achievement points, and took it back....never had a problem. There could be a bad "batch" of discs in circulation, or these people all had failing drives, but there's no way this is a common/widespread issue with the game.

Really Tom? There are several boards that are dedicated to the disk unreadable error with this game. Just because you and your 80's mustache haven't had the problem doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

i dnt have ncaa but i have the exact same problem with madden. Some times it works sometimes it dosent. sometimes it freezes some times its disk error and sometimes it disconnects me from online games after 1 play. Like the game dosent load properly or something because it dosent load the special abilities icon under the players you know like lightings speed and canon arms and all that stuff. I tried changing the disc but dnt wanna change to a used one still waiting for my local gamestop 2 get new 1's in stock. This dosent happen to any of my other games though just madden. The disc isnt scratched in anyway so it might or might not be the 360 not loading it properly but either way it still sucks

Yea, I hear ya man. I went to Gamestop a few times, but I am not buying the "we don't have any new ones in stock". I think they keep the new ones for new purchases and force users with this issue to exchange their bad copy with a copy that was returned.

youtube has angry 360 owner vids by the dozen with hardware and disk problems. Fanboys play cover up. If ps3 has issues like the last firmware, we speak truthfully, Sony fixed it with 1.93. You owe 360 owners respect, let these truths be told.

Nice way to start a flame war, posting 360 news under PC, Wii, and, yes, even PS3 news.

There are two explinations for this. Either you had no idea that news about a game problem with the 360 should be in the 360 section, or you thought it would be a good idea to post negative news about a 360 game problem as news for every console.

Forgive me if I'm looking at Wii news and get something about a 360 problem and don't find it interesting. However, I do think it speaks more about the people who post news in places it doesn't belong more than it speaks of the 360 and it not reading discs.

This was posted under multiple systems because the game itself is available on other systems. This is in NO WAY meant to be a knock on the Microsoft console, it is meant to gather information and drum up a conversation amongst gamers that have played the game on all consoles and experienced issues. The idea is maybe there is a solution that is out there that can put this all to rest.

The article says its only the 360 version, and that it happens with other games, as well. Sounds like a 360 problem start to finish to me.

I've had a problem like this once, with my Wii, though not this game, and it was after my little cousin got into the game and scratched it up.

Only one thing comes to mind about the 360 when I see this...people complaining about scratched discs.

Yeah, real saintly and mature of ya buddy. EA does suck no matter what they get their hands on developing. Maybe years ago they were good but their pockets are so deep now they obviously are making screw ups due to blatant oversight. Cut the high and mighty "360-fanboys-do-no-wrong& amp; quot; act because your sh1t smells just like all the rest of the other stupid fanboys on this site.

I had the exact same problem with Madden 08 on the 360. Went through 2 disks before I finally just gave up on Madden 08 all together. I did experience the same problem on Bioshock and Gears, but not as frequent.

I've had this problem with practically all my games. For instance, If I'm playing Guitar Hero 2, and I pause the game for even a minute, and hit resume, the screen freezes for a few seconds and the "Disk unreadable" blade comes up. I've had this happen on both of my 360's (I got the red rings of death and had the first one replaced.) Man, a lotta good that did...

Is this happening on any other systems? I'm not trying to take jabs at the 360 but All Pro 2008 does the same thing on my friend's system. It may be hardware related. We actually had to plug his external cooler up before the game loaded. The funny thing is that the system had only been on for maybe 20 min. It was the weirdest thing. We tried twice to get the disc to read before he said to plug up the cooler. We plugged the cooler up and it magically worked.

That is actually a pretty good observation. I wonder if it is heat related. I have usually had it happen after about an hour or so. I do not have an external cooler. I have no idea if the overheating could cause the ROM to malfunction when reading the disc or even cause it to become more sensative to disc defects.

Microsoft makes no mention of this on thier support site. I will mention one thing though, I have played other games that never do this no matter how long I leave the system on. It may be a combination of factors, however ultimately it may very well be a hardware related issue.

This problem pops up for a number of people with just about every game that gets released. The game gets blamed because at the time it's the only game for that person that the problems happens with. But it usually migrates to other games.

Here is what I've been through!

Last Dec Far Cry started doing 3 different things. Dirty disc error while playing or trying to load, the dashboard would show a DVD in the drive, and the "put this game in a Xbox 360" error message would pop up when trying to load the game. Replaced the disc but problem continued. A month later Gears started doing the same thing but to a lesser extent.

Sent it in on the ToysRus extended warranty to some satellite repair company. Don't know what they did but it worked fine for 2 months.

After playing Shadowrun for 2 weeks it hit that game. And to a lesser extent RV6. Gears and Far Cry worked fine.
I tried every thing I could to get it to work. Cleared the cache, moved game saves off the HDD, moved gamer profile off HDD, created new profiles. Tried different combos of boot to dashboard, boot to game, auto sign in on and off. Nothing worked.

Off it goes again!!
2 days ago i turn console on and it shows that Bioshock is a DVD. Crap, here I go again!

I did see a post on the Xbox forums a few months back that linked to a modding site that talked about how to adjust the drives laser. They were claiming that calibrating the laser would solve these problems. But they didn't explain why it happens only to certain games.

use too happen in oblivion too.....with the replacement xbox, I havent had it happen but twice playing madden...and i also tore the back off my entertainment center out for more air in the back, so that might of been the problem. I had the game glitch problem with tiger woods 08 also but it was patched and hasnt glitched ever since.
