As a token of their generosity, over the holiday season TimeGate Studios made several donations to the openly embraced videogames charity organisation, GamesAid. GamesAid acts as a broker of charitable activity on behalf of the industry, and has recently received a series of $45 (USD) donations from TimeGate Studios, symbolising the amount of money gamers will save by purchasing the forthcoming Section 8: Prejudice as a downloadable title as opposed to a boxed retail release.
GamesAid’s charity work received a major boost after Green Man Gaming today announced that it had raised over £30,000 for GamesAid.
Numskull and Bossa Studios are supporting the Stand Up for GamesAid comedy event coming this May 9th. GamesAid’s funniest night, Stand Up for GamesAid, is reaching for another magnificent triumph with a first class lineup and drum-rolling hype. It’s no wonder tickets are already flying fast.
Eurogamer:
GamesAid is an umbrella charity we care about because it belongs to and is propelled by everyone working in the UK games industry. We direct our fundraising and support towards GamesAid which then divides the money across a selection of charities focused on helping disadvantaged and disabled young people.
We, personally, donate gifts we're sent so they can be sold at auction, and if we happen to be running a marathon (why did I sign up for that?!) or doing a Tough Mudder or any kind of fundraising event, we tend to put GamesAid on our bib. As does everyone else, be they developer, PR, games shop, journalist and so on.
Good PR move.
yes
Very good considering they aren't the most wealthiest developer.
if it is on disc for my PS3 then I will get it. If it is a DL only title again I won't be getting it. So it is up to you Mr. Developer weather or not I buy your game.
They receive $14.99 from you (technically less than that), the consumer...and in turn, make a $45.00 donation in your name? Call me crazy...but that doesn't seem like sound economics. And to think they dumped SouthPeak...the publisher where games go to suck and die....and decided to publish this on their own. If they wanted to go bankrupt, they should have stuck with SouthPeak, so they'd at least have an excuse. :o
If GamesAid wasn't already a known charity, I'd swear this was bogus, just like when George Costanza gave out the fake "Human Fund" donation certificates for Christmas.
