NASCAR 2011's Delay Isn't Due To Points System Change

Earlier this week Eutechnyx, the studio behind NASCAR's revival on console gaming, delayed NASCAR 2011 to March 29. Then word passed that the racing series will refining its championship points structure for the next season. Were the two related?

Is the delay because of GT5?

velocitygamer4846d ago

Does anyone care about this delay? And why do you have to bring GT5 into this? Yeah, IMO, GT5 is better. But when you do mention it, it will start a fanboy wars. Then obviously, it will lead to somebody mentioning forza. Just keep fanboy comments to yourself.

I didn't say GT5 is better did I? No. I'm sayin that who ever make this game has to have made some poll and found a great deal of people who only casually buy racing games, example the sort that buy one or two per 6 months have bought their racing game in either GT5 or Neef for speed, they would have also looked at Blur, Split second and Modnation racers and saw that if you release similar games within a small time span the sales WILL suffer, check protoptype sales, you'll notice they are A LOT less on PS3 because of inFamous.

People also won't have waited for this game. I mention GT5 over Need for speed simply because GT5 has a actually Nascar track and cars, and for that reason alone I felt it more wothwhile to mention. Sorry if my comment wasn't clear, and since I have 2 bubbles and this is N4G I can understand why you jumped to fanboy, plus I hope with this explination people won't just into some stupid fanboy disccusion.

@velocitygamer

Ok all he said was is it because of GT5, that's not starting a fanboy war, so that's just silly

The delay probably is because of GT5, if we are to be honest and not have fanboy comments then here is the truth, it could be because of GT5 since the game is doing so well, and has an amazing Nascar Series inside of the game... it makes it very hard to compete against that..

So like any smart company they are looking to polish it as much as possible before release... which only makes sense because word of mouth sells a lot of games...

so if the first people to buy it are not impressed then they don't tell anyone else they should get it.. so it only makes sense that they touch up as much as you can before release.

IMO... this game will appeal to the more die hard Nascar fans who want the full Nascar experience... it will find it's market.

-But I would also say those fans should also get GT5 because the game does an amazing Nascar series which is really done well... it's not enough for true Nascar people but it's a nice feel and true to real life feel. -I was amazed at how hard it is to actually drive those cars..

So a month delay is not long, and if it means a better product at the end of the day, I think that's what you really want, the best possible product. .

A Nascar lisenced game! its been a long time since i played one! The last NASCAR game i played was in 2006 or so and it was half-decent.

Since this one sounds like a revival i hope its decent to say at least.

I wish for a game like Dirt to Daytona. I remember playing that on the gamecube and having a blast!

My friend is a NASCAR freak and he says that NASCAR in GT5 is way better than any other NASCAR games released before.

olLANDSHARKlo4846d ago

Your friend don't know too much about nascar then, nascar racing 2003 season is by far the best, and they still have updates for car skins for every year. Tell him to check out iracing also. GT5 nascar is very weak compared to these 2 games. And velocitygamer, why would you ask if anybody cares about this delay, could you please explain your reasoning for saying this.

user83971444845d ago

Well he has a huge collection of NASCAR stuff. And I will tell him to check out the games you mentioned.

You friend must be born in 2008

Lol
The NASCAR in GT5 sucks. I dont think PD know what a yellow flag is.

Ttam4846d ago

They learned from Codemasters what a flop a game can be when its unplayable due to glitches.. By all means I love nascar but its not like this game is going to sell massive numbers anyways. People who where going to buy it next month are still going to buy it..

NASCAR 2011: The Game | TGC Micro-review

TGC writes: I had real high hopes for NASCAR 2011 but it did not deliver. The poor AI severely affects the gameplay and the ‘realistic’ parts of the game do not feel that realistic. The best part of the game is how amazingly great the moving lanyard looks on the load screen and when this is the case, you know the game is probably in trouble.

This site does know Nascar 2012 comes out soon.

Even so a first attempt with a yearly franchise is going to be missing a few elements.

This round they got some of the Papyrus team from the old Nascar game development studios to work on the game as well. So 2012 will be awesome.

Still I myself am looking forward to catching 2011 at a decent price. I have been out of the Nascar gaming loop for awhile.

The site knows that, that's why the review for this game has come out, to assist people if they were thinking of buying 2011 before 2012 on the cheap or whatever reason.

Dead Pixel Live - Reviews NASCAR 2011: The Game

Excerpt: NASCAR 2011 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 doesn’t have the lower tier racing divisions that Langley specializes in. Instead, it focuses on the biggest baddest level of racing the sport has to offer, the Sprint Cup. And unlike other racers, it doesn’t force you to work your way up to the fastest cars. As soon as you press start, you’re at Daytona in a vehicle capable of doing 200+ MPH beside 42 other cars just a quick as yours. That’s called ‘diving into the deep end’.
