Why I bought a Wii

The Wii uses outdated tech, has gimmicky motion control and rarely gets any decent third party titles. So why did I buy one last week? Read on to find out why.

I'm still not totally sure why I felt the need to return to my gaming routes, I think like I said in the story. I was just tired of first person shooters.

The "old tech" in the wii is nothing I really think of when playing the game for it. I don't believe that the tech behind it some how invalidates my level of fun and entertainment.

I still play the original gameboy version of tetris because that is the one i like. I dont displace the tech in the gameboy simply because it has been surpassed by the likes of the gba or the ds. It is what it is.

There is a stigma in that people want to validate the level of tech to their level of personal enjoyment. That is a strange way of thinking. It can be said that some of the best in entertainment is not always found on the best of hardware.

People can have different tastes as we all know. I am one who didnt buy into the hype of the wii. i bought one because i wanted one. Seems pretty straight forward to me.

Super mario land 2 and TETRIS are some of my favorites.

I love GB tetris, especially those 3 songs it has. I heard the main tetris song on a direc TV commercial(where the guy has a tiny giraffe) and I instantly knew it was the tetris song. TETRIS rules.

I`m buying a Wii. Why? Because I love videogames and there are a bunch of titles I wanta play for it that I haven`t got the opportunity. I don`t know when I`ll have time to try out these games, but my daughter can use it primarily and I`ll use it every once and a while. I mainly wanta play Mario Galaxy 1/2, MadWorld and No More Heroes.

Nintendo and Sony both have a solid flow of games. They both have over 20 internal studios each.

Which can produce 10 exclusive games a year, w/ a bit of planning out w/ the development cycles.

I still think the Wii is a pretty weak system, the games aren't generally on par with what is released on other consoles but it can occasionally squeeze out an enjoyable game; that game usual involves Mario.

I already have a PC, 360, and a PS3 but There are still games I would love to play on the WII.

If I ever do get one some of the games that I would get would be New super mario, Donkey Kong, Sin and punishment 2, and of course MAURAMASA. There are others, but Id get those 4 first, And I would like to use a regular controller whenever possible if I got a wii.

I love the Wii because it has games I couldn't find anywhere else. It doesn't have HD graphics but it makes up for it with games that no other system can offer.

Read the article, I`ve have reasonably solid reasoning. I used that to grab people`s attention. It definitely seems to have worked, what i said are the usual complaints most people have about the Wii.

I quit playing games midway through the xbox/ps2 era. i vowed never to buy into the 'rip off' games industry ever again. i was sick and tired of the same old shit, just hiding behind nicer graphics. i did however, keep one ear listening to the games industry news and play games at my mates (with little to no enthusiasm.)

And then i heard about the wii, and was genuinely excited about the prospect of playing games again, i was still skeptical though... until i played the wii at my mates and loved it. I bought one within a few days.

nintendo worked their magic. if it wasnt for wii, i would most definitely not be playing games. the wii offered something that was actually new. the way you played the games was/is new and it really caught my attention... the popularity of the wii speaks for itself, it obviously spoke to others like me, who were frankly fucked off with gaming.

ps3 and 360 is oldskool to me, same old shit but now with a glossy coat. the wii actually dared to go into the unknown= win.

I completely agree with that statement although I definitely couldn`t just game on the Wii, I`ll always need my Xbox, or at least a PS3. I just think that the Wii provides a totally different experience, a unique one that other consoles can`t offer.

For me it`s also been a huge change of pace, a refreshing much needed change of pace.

Let's all be honest with ourselves. The Wii hardware is quite pathetic compared to its direct competitors. I don't however, think this is a huge problem. The Wii's lack of processing power has forced developers (first party and very few third party developers) to think outside the box in order to overcome these limitations. The result has been genuinely unique, quality games.

I do wish, however that the Wii had a bit more power to it. I feel like a series like Legend of Zelda deserves at least enough processing power to create a beautiful fantasy world thats not quite as limited and jaggy as the past entry on the Wii. (Yes I know it was a gamecube game, but the new installment still looks about on par)

I totally agree, after actually sitting down with the Wii I can't help but wonder what it could have become if it was a more powerful console.

I mostly mean games, there could have been some insane FPS games on the Wii, but then again that negates my entire argument - I got a Wii to escape FPS games.

The Wii has about the same graphics output as the 360 so in raw graphics power not clock speeds ect the wii is equal to 360 easy look ps2 GT4 looks almost the same as GT5 and the ps2 in clock speed is like 20 times less powerful but its what ur GPU/CPU can handle like AA/HDR ect graphics across all 3 current gen consoles are about the same compare GT4 to GT5 and tell me that GT4 looks last gen it doesnt right my point Raw Graphics power comes from graphical features put into GPU not clock speed,Clock speed means nothing yet still get the odd guy like this guy calling wii outdated if wii is so is 360/ps3
