Lol at the reports "n4g is a site about gaming, we don't promote hacking" *takes a look at all the approved kinect hack articles* lol at double standards

Karooo4873d ago (Edited 4873d ago )

wtf man its not necessary here

FailOverHero4873d ago

What isn't necessary here? Logic? Same standards? Well yeah, I already know that

sdtarm4873d ago

Oh wow now u can play a 20 year old console on your PS3, Lets celebrate!/s

Thecraft19894873d ago (Edited 4873d ago )

This n4g Its biggest trolling site in the world it has no standards and has the worst mods going why would this be problem.

deadreckoning6664873d ago (Edited 4873d ago )

"wtf man its not necessary here"

Its gaming news. N4G is a gaming news aggregator. If you need more explanation, PM me and I'd be happy to further explain.

@FailOverHere- Ur ignorant...and I'll tell you why. You think the presence of news that the PS3 got hacked will promote the idea of hacking in the minds of everyone who views the news. WRONG.

By your logic, if I shot 100 people and CNN reported the news, then every person who witnesses the report will shoot 100 people simply because there was NEWS that showed me doing it.

You.

Make.

No.

Sense.

bruddahmanmatt4873d ago (Edited 4873d ago )

I really don't know what the big deal is. If you have a PC (or even a Mac) and a controller you can play NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1 and even old school Arcade games on your computer. I suppose it's always cool to have options but I've been playing old games on my notebooks using emulators for so long that I just don't really see the benefit of playing them on my PS3.

Best4873d ago

Awesome. I'm ready for the piracy

Thecraft19894873d ago

WOW never had tat many agrees such quick time

bruddahmanmatt4873d ago (Edited 4873d ago )

I don't really know who the morons disagreeing with me are or what they're disagreeing for. Being able to run emulators on your PS3 is cool and all but it's much easier to run them off of your PC. A standard browser is quicker and easier to use than the PS3's browser as far as downloading new roms are concerned. Again, so long as you have a controller, it's easier (to me anyway) to use your computer to run emulators. I've been using a driver that allows me to connect my Dualshock 3 to my PC and it's as simple as mapping the controller buttons and clicking "run". ZSNES and Snes9x have been around for quite a while.

DatNJDom814873d ago

Yes! Finally! Because this is what I bought my PS3 for. To play all the SNES games! /s

skrug4873d ago

@deadreckoning666

That's a bad example

It's more like

CNN reports on someone that robbed a bank, without getting caught, and 99.99% can not be caught, on top of that, they show how to do it. you know everyone and their grandma would do it

DaTruth4873d ago

This is completely legit. It's not pirating software and if CFW has a use other than that, this is it!

I had a NES emulator on my PS3 like 3 years ago and it was awesome(even though it didn't work that well and had no sound). I played Amiga games and Genesis games more on my PSP than PSP games. I'm against pirating, but I can't understand why people would be against this. It hurts absolutely nobody and playing SNES games on my controllerless PC sucked!

zag4873d ago

@DaTruth

You do know copyright lasts for 100 years.

It's piracy because 99% of people wouldn't have the carts etc for that software so it's ripping off the owners.

ask capcom etc if they want you to pay for those roms or have them for free.

ThanatosDMC4873d ago

Console hack vs peripheral hack... hmmm?

DaTruth4872d ago (Edited 4872d ago )

Are they still selling them? As far as I'm concerned, I bought all those games and they were stolen from me!

PirateThom4873d ago (Edited 4873d ago )

The Kinect hack articles weren't about even hacks, they were basically drivers to work on PC with people producing their own software, not pirating software... (and producing better results for software than the native platform).

There is a difference.

And for the record, emulators are legal, downloading the ROMS is not.

ChristianGamer4873d ago (Edited 4873d ago )

Of course there's a difference. Xbox 360 and Kinect hacking good, kinect is horrible on x360 anyway, this is showing how good it can be...PS3 hacking sacrilege!! You will die heretic!! We must not approve!
I know, I know, read your inner thoughts didn't I?
But you have valiantly come on your high white horse to defend the approval of those kinect articles haven't you? What then...um now?

FailOverHero4873d ago (Edited 4873d ago )

So the kinect articles were about people(with the help of hackers and hacks) producing their own software, (you mean like homebrew?) even though it isn't official? Oh yeah, totally, that was SOOOOO different. And yes you're right, emulators are legal, so remind me again how this is different
What do aim bot and wall hacks have to do with snes emulators? Now you're just pulling out random things. Kinect hacks promote er, give me a sec, um...kinect sex groping which leads to a bad name for gaming. Yeah thats what you sound like

PirateThom4873d ago (Edited 4873d ago )

But Kinect is horrible on 360 and PC applications are the only thing using the tech properly. There's no "piracy" involved with hacking Kinect, it's all software being newly written for an open platform, no one has pirated 360 games to PC using Kinect, while this would be pirating SNES games on PS3 and running unofficially signed code on a closed platform. Are you really telling me you can't see the difference?

Also, I haven't approved or reported any of the hack articles for either, what now?

Edit: And here's my next problem with this, aim bots? Wall hacks? What's to stop all this crap running online just so "lol we can play SNES games!"

PirateThom4873d ago (Edited 4873d ago )

Wait... you honestly can't see how a SNES emulator, basically running code that isn't native to the system, can lead to online cheating? Are you seriously that naive or short sighted?

Eamon4873d ago

Who cares that much about the cheaters?

They're rare anyway. And it's not like the world is going to end of someone cheats in a video game.

XBL hardly suffers from cheaters.

Biggest4873d ago

There is one HUGE difference between the hackers of the PS3 and the people finding uses for the Kinect. The hackers use names like FailOverFlow because they can't afford to get caught. The people finding uses for the Kinect are current students and professors at MIT. They aren't doing anything even remotely illegal or finding new ways to do anything remotely illegal.

insomnium24873d ago

@Pirate

Oh man that is some serious beat down. I almost feel bad for those 2. You gave me a good mornings laugh with your owning. Thanks!

Whitefox7894872d ago

I thought the emulator software is only legal if you actually own the hardware same story for the ROMS if you own the Carts.

JetLyfe4204873d ago

@BUbblesniper

And what is N4G?

A media organazation? I thought so...

gta28004872d ago (Edited 4872d ago )

That's a really stupid comparison. Most of the piracy articles scream something like "look, you can get free games on the ps3" and people will then read about it and will eventually learn how to do it cause we all know most people never say no to anything that is "free". Especially when it's something they consider expensive. U.S. media outlets who report terrorism or homicide don't promote it or encourage it and even if they did encourage it no one would listen to it cause most people with morals wouldn't do something like that just cause they heard something on tv. Most people with morals will do something like piracy though, especially after they see how easy it is to get away with it. I know not all articles reporting PS3 piracy are promoting it but let's be real, that's something that will grab everyones attention because of the "free games". And once people learn about "free games" the majority of those people will eventually attempt to get "free games". Even when this happened PS3 was the number one searched item on yahoo. Why? because of all the piracy possibilities people were probably reading about.

Kon4873d ago (Edited 4873d ago )

Kinect hacks will never harm the games industry. But i can't say the same about hacking a CONSOLE. This can lead to many bad things, like piracy, for example. It is completely different to hack a Peripheral controller and hack a console.

ReservoirDog3164873d ago

Slightly interesting but need a really good reason to hack my PS3 that outweighs all the possible negatives (at least $200 of downloadable games on my account that could be banned, and I like my account's name, wanna still use it on the PS4).

Tuxedo_Mask4873d ago

If an article about a hack for the Kinect that involves hacking the 360 as well is approved then I agree, but most of the articles I've seen involving a Kinect "hack" are about people modifying it for use on the PC, which Microsoft has stated they have no problem with. This article, and others on N4G lately, seem to be endorsing the PS3 hack, which shouldn't be condoned no matter how you feel about Sony.

No matter what they target, hackers should not be supported because no matter what benefits they may offer through their acts, it's always better to have the support of the company whose product you're using. There is a right way and a wrong way to gain new features and the hackers are doing it the wrong way.

http://www.engadget.com/201...

poopface14873d ago

And any pc that can do that.

Jezuz4873d ago

People saying this isn't a big deal? HAHAHAH

xCaptainAmazing4872d ago (Edited 4872d ago )

Is a hero. Nobody complains about other devices being jailbroken or hacked. They all have double standards. This is just as newsworthy and interesting as the rest of them. Emulators are cool. Even if this stuff leads to Piracy or Cheating, it's inevitable with everything. Maybe we should close off the PC so people can't cheat... riiight.... people can't be so closed minded.

This will not bring down Sony. I suspect the majority of users will still buy their games, myself included. After all, while most people are retarded on this website, most are still aware of the ramifications of rampant piracy, and how it harms the industry. The majority of people that steal games are people that can't afford it, or treat gaming as a light hobby anyways. These people getting some free games doesn't do anything. It's the rest of us that are left with the responsibility.

I've pirated a few PC games before (don't have a very powerful machine, though), which I would have never bought if I couldn't download them. This a major factor which people tend to not include in their calculations.

punkpop1014872d ago

Are you stupid.Hacking in the means of piracy is meant.Tell me when Kinect hacks did anything for piracy. Some ps3 fanboys are really stupid.

kewlkat0074872d ago (Edited 4872d ago )

Noone cares about you it seems.....

Legal stuff vs illegal stuff. You are comparing apples to oranges and you are trying to be smart about it. That's kinda embarrassing.

Nyktharas4873d ago

Microsoft releasing drivers, and approving of the people working on these homebrew apps for Kinect is a lot different from running illegal roms on a PS3 with code the dev's do not want running on the system. Your definition of "hacking" needs to be redefined.

Kids these days and their obligation to be brand whores to a machine that doesn't love them back.

Give me Wii emulation with Move support, lol

EasilyTheBest4873d ago (Edited 4873d ago )

Hey thats a good one, I would rebuy a PS3 for that...

Whos the cry baby whos disagreeing then?

Look I think Wii Emulation with move support would be good and YES I would rebuy a PS3 for it. So what are you going to do about it...?

kungfuian4873d ago

Not sure this would work, not as easy as sounds. it that would take a lot of work!

More likely to see dolphin running with ps3 hacked to work with wii sensor bar and wiimote.

Rage_S904873d ago

lol why do i think this will happen also a hack to play kinect will happen i recon then it will actually do everything.....oh the irony...

KillerPwned4872d ago

If that happen i would buy a cheap PS3 asap and get that emulator. That would be one of the greatest emulations ever on a console.

multipayer4872d ago

I'd like to see move supported by dolphin on pc, then we can talk about a possible port to ps3.

That's odd a gamecube hori pad is in the titles picture...

xCaptainAmazing4872d ago (Edited 4872d ago )

The Dolphin gamecube/wii emulator is being ported to ps3, confirmed. From my understanding the controls getting mapped might be difficult, as the sub-controller is not like a nunchuck. it's really neat stuff though, you'd be able to run wii games in HD on a same generation console!

Technically you wouldn't be forced to steal the games either. You can easily emulate a game from a retail DVD on PC. That's being hopeful though, as most people planning to do this would just download them.

I bought Twilight Princess back on the gamecube, and the idea of being able to run it in HD off my ps3 would just be amazing. unfortunately my computer isn't powerful enough to keep it locked at 30fps, and it's kind of annoying. This option, as you might imagine, intrigues me as the ps3 is plenty powerful enough to achieve this, assuming the port takes advantage (enough as necessary) of the cell.

Guys the CFW cant even load back ups.

This emulator is pretty sweet, I still have link to the past but my SNES died so this gives me another (legal too since I own the game) chance to play it again :D

LBP was wonderful

ApocalypseShadow4d ago

Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.
https://www.playstationlife...

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.

They're scum.

Zachmo1823d ago

Microsoft didn't force MLB on Xbox. MLB gave Sony 2 options either go multiplat or risk losing the license.

Rynxie3d ago

And why do you think MLB said that? I believe Ms approached MLB.

ApocalypseShadow2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Totally ridiculous comment.

The only exclusivity Sony had was to their own creation of The Show. Microsoft could have paid the MLB for the license just like Sony did and made their own baseball game.

Microsoft instead, groomed MLB for years in trying to poach Sony's game and bring it to Xbox. They're worth 3 TRILLION dollars. You think that's not enough money to make their own baseball game? Don't be delusional.

Microsoft spun it like they always do and told the media that they had to trust Sony with their hardware. After they put Sony in that position of not having a choice. Either go multiplatform or stop making one of their successful games. That's a no win scenario.

And what did Microsoft do? They didn't try to sell the game to the Xbox community. They put it on game pass to hurt Sony. Pushing the idea of why buy games that are $70 when you can play them in their cheap service for $10. It was a dirty tactic.

You fell for the Kool aid drink Microsoft served you instead of spitting it out. Hope it tasted good because you were fooled by Phil and the gang.

Xbox executive Sara Bond has told Axios that Microsoft spent a number of years trying to get MLB The Show onto Xbox consoles. And when it finally succeeded in breaking off PlayStation’s long-held exclusivity, the company had to “trust” Sony with pre-release Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Bond revealed that MLB The Show “always came up” in conversations between Microsoft and the Major League Baseball organization. “We always said, ‘We love this game. It would be a huge opportunity to bring it to Xbox.'” she recalled. However, when Microsoft’s efforts materialized, it put the company in an awkward situation where it had to send in pre-release consoles to a rival company.

They were too cheap/inept/lazy to develop their own mlb game, so they port begged for years and bribed the mlb to make the show multiplatform. Like i said many times, xbox brought nothing to the table their 24 years, ZERO.

ApocalypseShadow2d ago

At least you and others get it. Note drank the Kool aid and asked for seconds thinking it was refreshing.

Most don't even know how it all played out but it's there in black and white for all to see. Microsoft brought it up for years until the MLB forced Sony's hand. It was a win win for Microsoft. Kill one reason to buy a PlayStation or kill the game by dropping it in a cheap service to kill Sony's sales numbers on PlayStation.
