10 underrated games you should play

CVG: Some games, like Uncharted 2 for example, shine bright for a long time after release, while more than a few quickly fizzle away into obscurity and can usually be found at the bottom of your local bargain bin.

So we thought we'd do our part and highlight a few of these hidden gems. These are few games that are available now for dirt cheap and are definitely worth your time.

Go on, help a good old game out.

I agree with X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, it was a good game.

Wolverine is one of the best 3rd person action games this gen. Once you got the throws and combos down the mayhem is total.

I especially enjoyed the bonus stages where you fought yourself.

Red Faction: Guerrilla is also an underrated gem.

Was Wolverine underrated? I thought it did great when it came out.

@ M_Jack_H - No need to spit your dummy out because nobody viewed your comment as anything noteworthy. GT5 got the rating it deserved and a huge playerbase of gamers to boot... It was advertised on TV and in just about every form of written media gave their opinion on it, along with in depth reviews and comparisons. It was not underrated or missed out on in the slightest.

However a game like Red Faction: Guerrilla as mentioned by DelbertGrady came out during the summer fairly quietly with a modest amount of coverage and short unconcise reviews that glossed over its excellent physics engine and addictive multiplayer - it never got the playerbase and sales it deserved.

Now put your toys back in your pram, hush up and move on.

MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE

is such a good game with really good combat/blood/gore

when it came out people were expecting a bad movie kind of a game turned out to be great and they are working on a sequel.

dark sector was not a great or even good game it was a ok game but for 5-10 bucks its worth it

darkness has to be played people its a masterpiece and 2k is also working on a sequel

CIV, Brothers in arms are both good games

overall a good list games like club and stuff i am not too sure about i tried the demo didn't like it as much

wedgie4874d ago

I remember one of the reviews I read said skip the movie, all you need to do is play the game. Its much better.

Neckbear4875d ago

IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey was fucking awesome, anybody who hasn't tried it should go buy it right now.

Lavalamp4874d ago

If I had to pick a game, it'd be Nier. Even though the combat is a little wonky and the quests get a bit repetitive, the narrative and music are both really incredible. I wish more people would give it a chance.

Shepherd 2144874d ago (Edited 4874d ago )

Sorry, wrong post.

Cheeseknight284874d ago

The worst problem with Nier for me is that I regret not spending more money on it. Gamestop has (had?) it for $15 used, $17 new and I played it to death. I feel like it deserved more of my money, ah well.

Such a phenomenal game. Even if nothing else in the game appeals to you (the one reading this post), the music is absolutely some of the best in this generation. As is the plot.

Apparently it's still being turned into a franchise. Let's hope it gets localized. I know Cavia was dissolved so it may have trouble getting here.

Halo Reach. It was so innovative compared to other halos.

Reach is Xbox's best game (not really Gears is better lol) how could it possibly be underrated. Jesus it got like a 91 meta its a good game (Gears is better) lets leave it alone.

Shepherd 2144874d ago

Reach was good, but i didnt like it as much as Halo 2 or Halo 3.

Halo CE: First FPS that forced you to choose between two weapons, and the first FPS with regenerating health(shield).

Halo 2: Invented the Lobby system used in Halo 3/Reach/Call of Duty/etc. And it set the bar for online console gaming.

Halo 3: First Console FPS to use filesharing and theater mode to easily share custom made content.

Reach:....umm? Story lacks in many places, MP maps suck, gameplay changes for the worst instead of improving. Still solid though.

morganfell4874d ago (Edited 4874d ago )

HALO didn't have regenerating health.

You need to pick either health or shields for your comment because you can't have both. They aren't the same thing in HALO CE.

And so you know, shields regenerated in HALO, health did not. Don't you remember pickling up all of those big health packs?

Shepherd 2144872d ago (Edited 4872d ago )

Dont worry. Im sure i played Halo CE more than anyone here.

Youre trying to argue stupid little details. Halo brought the idea of anything regenerating in combat. once your shield was depleted, your health didnt last long at all. You had to hide and wait for your shield to RECHARGE, the same thing you do in most modern FPS games.

Halo simply provided an excellent story reason why it technically was not health that was ridiculously and randomly regenerating.

So, your logic is flawed my friend.

alphakennybody4874d ago

wolverine was an average game n. It was also a copy-past of GOW mechanics.

HeavenlySnipes4874d ago

For a movie game it was actually really, really good. Almost as good as the best movie game Spiderman 2.

Commander_TK4874d ago (Edited 4874d ago )

GOW was not the 1st hack and slash game you know.

Best Superhero Video Games Available Right Now

From Xfire: "A lot of video games are designed to make players feel like a superhero. However, very few actually feature superheroes or have players take on the role of a superhero. What makes this even worse is that there are even fewer superhero video games that can be considered good."

Sony’s best-selling Infamous series did X-Men games better than the actual X-Men

For decades, superheroes had the worst luck when it came to video games, the X-Men chief among them. There are a few welcome outliers—Raven Software’s X-Men Legends duology remains a classic, Wolverine’s game adaptation for his first solo movie has its silly charm, and you can still find the classic beat-’em-up cabinet in arcades everywhere—but there are more lows than highs, from Mutant Wars and X2: Wolverine’s Revenge, to the franchise’s last big stab at mainstream gaming respectability, 2011’s X-Men: Destiny. Sluggish and overwrought, the latter seemed to be the kiss of death for Marvel’s mutants, the precursor to their eventual fate years before they were kicked out of Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite. (Getting left out in the cold during Marvel’s big purchase by Disney probably didn’t help.)

When you find out that Kessler is Cole. Mind blown. It was so awesome

Nitrowolf21803d ago

Yeah I really wasn’t expecting that at all, loved it though and made me feel bad for him

Shame cause I thought 2 feel flat in comparison was hoping it’d be set up for us to fail and having to travel back as Kessler.

Easily could have made three focused around getting cole out of that loop.

AspiringProGenji1803d ago

Ah Infamous 2, such a well made game. I miss playing it and would love a remaster. Many people had issues with the story, but I myself enjoyed it. Maybe if I get back and play it I might realize why, but god damn I loved the game

my roomate's step-mother makes $72 every hour on the computer . She has been out of a job for six months but last month her check was $13623 just working on the computer for a few hours.

use *Spoiler Alert* next time.

Zeke681803d ago

It's a PS3 title, no need for spoiler tags....
Spolier alert Dr No is the bad guy in the first James Bond movie with the same name from 1962 end spolier alert
How long should it go on in your opinion? 😉

SCW19821802d ago (Edited 1802d ago )

Really? It came out 10 years ago. I think we are past needing spoiler warnings at this point.

lelo2play1803d ago

We shouldn't call them X-Men... feminists don't like it.

Zeke681803d ago

X-(Wo)men *fixed it*
Off topic: northern Sweden and we got 28C in the shadow, damn, my beer is cold for 1 minute and then boiling hot hehe

zsquaresoff1803d ago

Sony needs to remaster both infamous games for ps4/5. Incredible games with pretty easy platinum trophies.

thatguyhayat1803d ago

Infamous 1 looking for the shards was a b*tch.

SamPao1802d ago

yeah that was indeed annoying :D

Silly gameAr1802d ago (Edited 1802d ago )

That was the only trophy I didn't get because it glitched out on me. I have Infamous 2 and Second Son Platinum trophy, but can't get that Infamous 1 plat. That always bugged me.

The_Hooligan1802d ago

The one that gave me hard time was killing 3 people at once by making them fall from a high place. That stunt was a bitch lol. But i really enjoyed the first two infamous games. I need to play second son though.

AspiringProGenji1803d ago (Edited 1803d ago )

I've actually thought the same thing and how Sucker Punch can expand this IP and have their own Xmen. I wish we get an sequel to Infamous 2's bad ending which gave everyone affected by the blast super powers

CBaoth1802d ago

Sucker Punch screwed the series by choosing the "good" ending as canon. Infamous 3 could've been exquisite if Cole ***SPOILERS*** had wiped out 7 billion on the planet. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, Cole should've been the antagonist or at the very least a tortured soul seeking redemption as he became the Beast. Far more interesting concept with intriguing story arcs but they played it safe with banal tropes of the modern political climate.

Andy_Dee1803d ago

Yeah I really enjoyed the first and second one. Never before had I played a game that was like this.

A new experience and the for me as a new fan!
