New PSN release shows why Tetris is still timeless

Layton Shumway: The release of Tetris on PSN reminded me why I love the game so much -- not because of what has changed but because of what hasn't.

Is there online MP? I know there is local MP. I'm really considering getting this, its been ages since i've played me some good 'ol tetris.

Bought it earlier. Still can't get enough of it.

yeah! pay for a game you can play on the net for free

also from the looks of it there is no endless mode just like the psp version or maybe that was just the other modes that finished after 40 lines

"yeah! pay for a game you can play on the net for free"

I would normaly say that as well, but the PSN version of Tetris really seems to be the best version of Tetris to date. For $10, it really is worth the money (even with there being free versions on the internet)

I am a Tetris junkie (since it came out in the 80's) and I can say it dwarfs any other version of Tetris out there. Plus the online features of this PSN version are absolutely flawless and perfected.

Try TetrisFriends, got addicted to it, and is basically the same thing as this but on the PC. It's free and has a much larger fanbase than this on the PSN. Why waste money when you can get something better (you will know when you try TetrisFriends) for free?

Redempteur4860d ago

i'm also a tetris junkie ( endless mode is not enough for my fix anymore )and i'm seriously consiedring this tetris game..

yes i went trough , tetris, tetris 2 , tetris 3d, ....( long list ) ... tetris ds, tetris party, tetris party deluxe , and the list goes on ...

Trebius4860d ago

It'd be much easier to just get it for 10 bucks on PSN and play with your friends, instead of trying to get your friends to download a random 'free' tetris game that doesnt have the new MP options, is not beautifully remastered with digital sorround and great 1080 visuals ...

Like ... are you really arguing the justification of this measly 10 dollar purchase?

I mean...x360 gamers pay 60$ for something they can get for free, ANYWHERE. But THAT's a JUSTIFIED purchase is it not?

SuperStrokey11234860d ago

Well i dont know if i 100% agree as the game is good enough to pay for but 10 bucks seems way to steep for something as simple as tetris. I was expection it to be 2.49 myself... for 10 bucks i can get xmen...

@Matthew94

But I dont want to be in front of my PC after work. Like a lot of ps3 users.

Matthew944860d ago

you do know that the ps3 does flash, and can use a keyboard and mouse?

choadley4860d ago

I'm more of a Tetris Attack person myself, but the original is still good.

multipayer4860d ago

Isn't this just simple enough for LittleBigPlanet2 to do perfectly...

Tommykrem4860d ago

I think there was a TETRIS level in the Beta yes. I even think there was one in the first LBP, but I don't think that was too good.

Lirky4860d ago

Someone answer me on this : Does Tetris psn contain original Tracks from the NES tetris the MusicA,MusicB,MusicC and if so are they like remixed sounding.

elbeasto864860d ago

It's kinda techno sounding but it's not butchered up or anything. The core soundtrack is still there and I love this version more for it.

Lirky4860d ago

ok thnx lol for 9.99 thats cool multiplayer etc. only a main story mode was missing i wish they had dlc for wonders like n64 version of the new tetris where everyline u collect it adds onto a structure giving u that goal of accomplishment.
