Torchlight Announces Exclusivity For The 360

Travis Baldtree, the big guy for Runic has confirmed that Torchlight will be a 360 exclusive. This news came after the CES 2011 press event where Microsoft announced the game to be available for XBLA. Torchlight, a massive PC indie hit has seen over 500,000 sales. It carries controls similar to Diablo and can stand it’s ground in the hack and slash genre.

Sounds like it got dumbed down to fit on consoles..

"You don’t ‘target’ enemies – you’ll get a red highlight for a ‘primary’ target that is in range, but for melee attacks you hit everything in your damage cone (secondary targets get secondary damage )."

I guess the joystick just isn't accurate enough for Torchlight style gameplay.

IMHO, this is a great exclusive to have. I'm extremely unhappy to hear they canned the PSN version. I seriously hope this is due to a development decision due to easy of porting to 360 and not due to them getting money to keep it exclusive.

I may break down and get it for the 360, though I've pretty much left it to collect dust since Alan Wake.

I already have this on PC and will be buying it on 360. 500,000 on PC but will sell over 2 mil on 360. I also like the changes in gameplay, pointing at a taget and letting the ai hit is not sooted for console play. I think the reason it did not go to PS3 is that M$ published and help the port the game.

I too got it on Steam for $5. While the concept is great, it got boring too fast due to the lack of multiplayer. Torchlight 2 on the other hand is looking promising.

Xbox owners, save some money and enjoy it on Steam.

I wonder if this is Torchlight "one" or if is related to Torchlight 2. Either way they should probably add some content since there won't be 100000000000 mods for it.

I'm a bit disappointed its not coming to ps3, though. I loved me some Dark Alliance/Champions of Norrath. It was all the fun of diablo games without the endless clicking. Oh well, I'm getting a new PC soon anyway.

Gametrailers gave their 360 EXCLUSIVE 2010 GOTY to Mass Effect 2, despite the fact the demo was on PSN. Now does this mean 2011 PS3 exclusive can go to Mass Effect 2 since their reasoning was

PLayed it on the PC. It gets boring after sometime. Can't see this being much fun on a console because it is mostly mouse and keyboard driven very much like Diablo. I can see the controls getting gimped for the console vesrion.
