High-def video streaming service Vudu is taking their game to the next level: they'll start streaming 3D movies to compatible devices next week.

Movie streaming operator Vudu has always aimed at the high end of the video streaming market with high-definition offerings, and now at CES the company has announced it will take its game to the next level: Vudu will begin streaming 3D movies to compatible devices beginning next week—and manufacturers will be rolling out more devices that support 3D content from Vudu throughout 2011. ...on par with RedBox I'd be an instant convert. The quality of the movies is very good, the streaming is very clean, but the only thing I don't like is the fastforward and rewind feature. Otherwise Vudu is very nice and them having a handful of movies before theater release is pretty cool.

Yeah it is pricey but it's a great service. I tested it out with a few movies and I was impressed. I just can't afford to keep paying that much for movies when I already have netflix

Well, Vudu has good quality picture but u NEED a really fast Internet connection for the stream to run smoothly. I used my free HD rental and got the Expendables and the movie stopped every 2 seconds to buffer. Also, like Pixel_Enemy said, Vudu's prices are ridiculous considering the value you get from Netflix. I have DSL, but I know its not the fastest connection, but Netflix runs perfectly on my PS3.

Sidenote:

If you enjoy movies and tv shows AND u have a PS3...ur NUTS if you don't have Netflix. I got it for Christmas and I'm cancelling my Time Warner Cable. Its THAT good

I agree. Netflix runs smoothly on slower internet speeds and is much better value. I would appreciate a subscription service for vudu even if it was like $15-$20 a month for unlimited streaming.

Agreed!! Vudu cost needs to be reduced. At a Redbox cost Vudu movie streaming would more than likely experience a substantial influx of new users overnight.

Sweet. Now all I need is a 3DTV.

What will they get into next? It was really scary when they almost got permission to open their open bank.

UFC app is pretty cool! I think the app deserves achievements though. Definitely would add a little competition between friends that use the app.

They need to fix the Youtube app. There are alot of videos we cant access. They need to patch that shit up! And make those said videos accessible.

Cutting the Cable Cord with Consoles

“Cutting the cord” was a popular phrase among tech nerds in 2010. The practice of cancelling cable or satellite service and relying on streaming television will become even more popular in 2011. There are several reasons for this. A lot of people are still struggling financially and it’s cheaper to go with streaming. It’s fashionable among hipster douchebags to rely on modern services. And most importantly, streaming movies and TV shows on gaming consoles has gotten really, really good.
