Another day, another purchase from Steam...

One day I'll get time to play these games. Anyway, since 23rd August 2010, I've spent £24.88 on games from Steam and have this collection formed:

Nice man. +1 for having Amnesia: The Dark Descent up there.

PirateThom4875d ago

Finally got to play it today as I made my friend buy it as well (I haven't even had the time to download and play it on my own computer yet) and that game is worth playing for the atmosphere alone. Every corridor was "Aagggh, crap! No!"

Motorola4875d ago

I hate how Amnesia doesn't support some Graphics Chips though. The game alone is a reason I would want to update my graphics. Its amazing, I have seen so many walkthroughs and its just terrifying.

BattleAxe4875d ago

Bought Mafia 2 and Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood today :)

Dojan1234875d ago

I did my best not to buy this year since I am way behind on my games. However, when I saw Mafia 2 for that price I had to get it.

Megaton4875d ago (Edited 4875d ago )

During this sale alone I've purchased...
- Amnesia: The Dark Descent
- Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY
- Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (gift)
- Mass Effect 2
- Mirror's Edge
- The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom
- Poker Night at the Inventory (gift)
- S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl
- S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

All for about $35.

Kran4875d ago

i own 3 steam games. got them all for free.

KOTOR - PAX Code
Portal - That day when valve were giving it for free
Worms Reloaded - Review Code

hehe

Mr Exclusive4875d ago

You call that a list Thom?!? Thats nothing man. Good to see you jumped on board though.

PirateThom4875d ago (Edited 4875d ago )

I wanted to buy more, I really did, but Christmas and what not drained resources to the point I've just been buying the "basics" (read: Valve games and STALKER - still need CS 1.6 and Source, so I'm not done... yet. :P) I've never been into PC gaming but between Steam and BioShock, AoE and Deus Ex on GFW, I think I'm set for a while. :P

Basically, I'm taking up PC gaming due to Steam sales...

Just need a desktop PC now to run them at sensible levels, this laptop is about to die... :D

Ducky4875d ago (Edited 4875d ago )

Good to see people picking up the stalker games.
They're quite scary too... or well, they've got good atmosphere that can lead to scares.

It's going to take a good chunk of time to chew through those games. Good thing you skipped on the MassEffect sales. =p
I have 62 games that I've yet to complete. =(

Give Sam & Max episode 104 a shot too. It's free and good fun.

Megaton4875d ago

Why is it a good thing he skipped on the Mass Effect sales?

STONEY44875d ago

"Why is it a good thing he skipped on the Mass Effect sales?"

I think he's trying to say that Mass Effect would take a ton of time to chew through too, and that list of games is already a time-eater.

Snatcher4875d ago (Edited 4875d ago )

Is Amnesia: The Dark Descent, kind of like a figure it by yourself asshole kind of game?

Like you have to think a lot how to advance further in the castle. Kind of like point and click adventure but with horror style? Or is it pretty straightfoward, and easy?

Ducky4875d ago (Edited 4875d ago )

It's the typical survival horror formula:
- Explore dark spooky environment
- Find a few items
- Combine said items to make new item
- New item helps you proceed further

That's the gist of it at least. It's similar to the old ResidentEvil/SilentHill games.

peowpeow4875d ago

But the whole premise behind it is you can't fight the monsters, you have to hide in the dark..the longer you hide though, the more insane he gets (i.e. starts seeing monsters XD) I love it!

TrueScythe4875d ago

Yeah. I haven't had a decent scare from a game in a long time until I played that game. And it wasn't just plain "scary" I was terrified. Lol.

Dojan1234875d ago

I was wishing the did the same for Ruse. I was holding out for Mafia and Ruse. However, Ruse was not that great of a deal so I did not pull the trigger.

GrilledCheeseBook4875d ago (Edited 4875d ago )

great sales

So many backlogged games that it'll be hard to really bring myself to purchase any games for a while.

My suggestion to anyone planning on getting a gaming pc is remember to save money for the Summer and Holiday sales. No better way to have a ton of great games to play for a fraction of the cost than to just have a good amount to spend on those two sales.

Manac0R4875d ago

My collection is growing and at a fraction of the cost. STALKER, Witcher, Mafia 2, Dragon Age, Crysis, Serious Sam, Far cry 2 and Metro 2033 to name a few, kind of gutted I missed out on Amnesia. last day of sales tomrrow hope they saving something special for last.

Should have happened a long time ago. People wanting refunds after 50 hours in game.

fsfsxii10d ago

Pc gamers will take this as an excuse to pirate things

KyRo10d ago

I'm not sure why you're getting disgrees. Whilst not all PC gamers are petty, an awful lot of them are lol

Crows9010d ago

Entirely untrue. Not any more petty than console gamers. The only large difference is console gamers don't have much of a choice.

Michiel19899d ago

Not sure why you're getting agrees. an awful lot of console gamers are overemotional twinks ready to go to war over a plastic box, I'll take being a pc gamer then.

Speaking about overgeneralizing much.

Nooderus9d ago

"X" type of gamer conversations are cringe

qalpha10d ago

Daily reminder that 'TheGamer' is a corporate-generated, anti-gamer, anti-consumer, clickbait web site. They are mostly A.I. generated articles that villainize gamers. They provide nothing positive and actively try to provoke and divide the community through extreme view points and politics. Do not give them any clicks.

Inverno10d ago

Only scumbags? As if people don't play their games on console put in the most amount of hours and return it to GameStop and trade it in for another game. But also how many people are actually do this? And what games have been allowed to be refunded?

DustMan10d ago

You can refund any game you've purchased as long as it hasn't been longer than two weeks, and you've played less than 2 hours. I wish they would change it to 3 hours because some RPG's have so much exposition that you may only get an hour total of complete gameplay. That's my only knock on it. I've refunded plenty of stuff I was just curious to try. I typically stay away from Early Access titles which are the only ones affected by this policy change.

Inverno10d ago

Apparently early access doesn't count, only complete games with a play early preorder bonus.

Gaming4Life198110d ago

I definitely know if I want a refund in 2 hours.

SegaSaturn6699d ago

I never liked refunding anything. Even if a film is bad, i dont want my money back. Sometimes things just aren't for me, and it's not the creator's fault necessarily.

Gaming4Life19819d ago

I feel you and i have never walked out on a bad movie cause I payed my money. I also don't refund games cause I'm a gamer and I know what to buy lol. I think having a digital refund is great.
