I was somewhat confused by this article. It was well written, smart, and high quality. I'm not used to that on n4g.

"Myth: Videogames Make You Smarter"
That is true. I learned to speak english just by playing videogames

longcat4872d ago (Edited 4872d ago )

Well, learning english improved your skill set in a particular area, which he admitted a game can do.

But it did not increase you IQ or EQ which are considered better measures of intelligence.

tough I think that gaming is better for your IQ than watching Melrose place all day

OcelotRigz4872d ago

I agree with most things he said with the exception of:
"Myth: Game Testing Is An Awesome Job"
He just couldn't make that sound bad to me.

He should of added:
Myth: Sales measure quality.

I would only change one thing.

"There are no girl gamers"

We always knew there were girl gamers. What male gamers really hold as a myth is that, "There are no HOT girl gamers". The same way women say, "There are no nice guys". And men say, "All women are bitches".

We don't count the ugly girl gamers as girls. Women don't count their nice guy friends as attractive and don't see them as nice guys. Men don't see the ugly girls with good personalities and what we find is hot girls who are bitches. If you're not the best of both worlds you're just "meh". And therefore not counted.

Myth: Casual Gaming Is Killing "Real" Gaming

i think he confuses whats a good game and what is a financial successful game...
Most big companies try to make financially successful game so they can just steal money from dumb masses
Some companies try to make good games but they simply dont sell well because they dont make the masses feel happy and that they are better like the easy mode financial games...

Video Games & Hollywood or Keep Your Hands Off Our Franchises!

Gamer Euphoria staff member ob writes:

''Video games being turned into movies is nothing new and it’s been happening from as early as the mid-80s starting with Super Mario Bros. which saw Bob Hoskins taking on the role of everyone’s favourite plumber, Mario. With news coming from Deadline that Dreamworks is in final talks to purchase the movie rights to the Need for Speed franchise, I think it’s time that Hollywood learns from their past mistakes and stops throwing good money after bad.''
