"Licensed games generally suck. It’s a fact, but at least most developers give the illusion of putting forth an effort to make something tolerable. Kick-Ass is a throwback to the 16-bit era, when all you needed were a few horribly digitized soundbites from actors and a recognizable image for the menu, and you had yourself a movie tie-in. At least Kick-Ass got the menu part right."
Kick-Ass the movie styled in an undeniably Double Dragon-centric design. Everything from the way the enemies move, to the side-scrolling action screams classic side-scrolling beat ‘em up.
Kick-Ass for the PlayStation Network will be available tomorrow at a new, lower price to celebrate the movie's release on DVD and Blu-Ray.
PlayStation LifeStyle writes: "Kick-Ass, for the PlayStation Network, at its core is a beat-em-up that pits players against miniature swarms of enemies in the shoes of Bruce Wayne-esque Big Daddy, adorably vulgar Hit Girl, and of course the star of the show Kick-Ass. As sweet as the thought of playing as any one of the three protagonists sounds, the practicality of the concept is not as kick-ass as it sounds."
