I've gotta agree, VGChartz just simply isn't reliable and it's been proven over and over again when real numbers come out. It's just like after E3, when the 360 got a price cut and the 360S was launched. We had article after article about how well VGChartz thought the 360 was doing, Amazon charts showing how the 360 was running away, etc....etc. Then real data comes out for the quarter and the PS3 had sold almost a million more than the 360 for that period.

And it happens over and over again. VGChartz articles put the 360 ahead. NPD numbers show the 360 selling well in the US. Every single article is filled with 360 fans talking about the 360 widening the gap still and being unstoppable. Then when real data comes out it proves the PS3 is selling better than 360, the 360 sales trolls go silent for a week - then start right back up again as soon as VGChartz puts out it's next batch of guesstimates.

Here's a fact. The 360 at it's height had over an eight million lead on the PS3. That is now down to 3 million. The PS3 head 2 head outsells the 360. Has for some time. After 4 years of outselling the 360, what on earth makes you guys think that suddenly the 360 has suddenly, just now, started to pull away? Even VGChartz shows the PS3 and 360 practically neck and neck since the last official numbers were released, and the PS3 way ahead this year overall, and given that they always overstate 360 numbers and understate PS3 numbers when official data is revealed, how can you honestly believe the 360 is ahead all of a sudden?

Be realistic.

Motion control is the only way to the casuals hearts. Wii and Kinect are doing some hude numbers. This just shows how important that market is to these companies. The core gamers are more reliable, but there are a boat load of casuals (women, kids, and non gaming men) who are buying into this motion stuff because they are easy to get into.

em... 500 mill ad spent by MS which will without a dout increase awareness of the product e.g kinect=360 more or less.

and the fact sony choice a MOVE which is on the same market declining path of wii ( every product has a cycle from release high adoption rate after product has reach saturation point and as we know the wii is on the decline sony's move is on that same path so its going to be clearly seen as not so new.

another reason is kinect is just something many ppl havnt seen before... and that alone will pull more attention to the product and the fact majority of the world havnt seen anything like it (dont mention the pseye coz not many ppl adopted it on ps2 so it doesnt count and there was really no software to support it coz it was just really a webcam)

so yes.. there is y its inevitable.. for the gap to widen.

The reason why it was giving a huge marketing budget cause microsoft will earn back that loses right away,once again the 500 million is over a 2 years they will have earned back that 500 million in about 2 weeks with 5 million sold countless amount of software generated,new live account its new consoles sold. I purchased kinect ablout one month ago and set it up and have not touched it since. The games are not core and the space required makes me move my furniture and I'm not down with that. I will play my 360 and ps3 with its controller a lot however but kinect has issues and there's no hiding it. Its promising tech and we will see in time but right now its not a good buy.

im confuse,we're bashing vgchartz for saying xbox is outselling the ps3,isn't it already very obvious?? Don't the npd numbers say the same thing? It's also clear when you go in stores and see ps3 in stock and no 360's. Xbox will do 50 million by years end that in itself is a huge accomplishment being the first xbox didnt do nearly as well.
