RipTen: Everyone knows what a disaster Call of Duty Black Ops has been for Ps3 owners. From being an inferior port, on the short end of timed exclusive DLC and now the infamous Patch 1.04. Our readers responded to our most recent Black Ops stories with such vigor, emotion, and wanted their voices heard.

I never liked the COD series but I thought to give this one a try since most of my friends were getting it too but it just never worked out for me. Didn't get to finish the campaign, which was good anyway IMO, and didn't get to prestige in MP.

What I basically hated the most is how this game tends to be repetitious. Sure I enjoy it for some time but honestly I get tired real fast and I personally don't like how people abuse it. Can't wait for KZ3, KZ2 was the only FPS that impressed me and I'm an RPG fan.

Maybe I'm in the minority here but I haven't had any issues at all (got PS3 version btw). Except for perhaps some mic problems with my friends but it was possible to work through it.

I think people are making this bigger than what it is.

Just because you don't have the problems like others do doesn't mean they are making things up or there's no problem at all.

Single player-- No trophy after I beat it on veteran and the AI in the game is just as worst as in WAW.

Muti players-- Party disband, mic problem, spawn in front of the enemy or surrounded by them, getting kick from the game.

These just few problems that happen to most people, so I don't know why you'd think people are making this bigger than what it is. I think either you have no idea what you were saying or you just trolling.

I completely agree they messed up this game with such simple things, like the kick button in a party doesn't work, I can almost never mute someone in a party, the option just isn't always there its there sometimes but mostly not. Also in zombies if I have a full party and I click find a game so its online, ranked and so we have the best host it just says cannot find a game, well it should just start up our own lobby if that isn't obvious we have a full party. Now the thing everybody is talking about is the lag and yes there is ALOT of it you can almost never get in a game without lag, and the host migration is terrible it almost never goes through, and the game can seriously not pick a host to save its life it always picks probably the worst possible host and only the host has a four bar and everyone else has a 1 bar and it either doesn't migrate or it does and the game gets lagged out. Also I have no clue what the framerate is but it is so much lower than MW2's 60 fps. And the hit detection is so random I could start shooting first and be right on him the whole time but still die and sometimes you could not even be on them and hit them and vice versa. Anyways back to the choosing the best host, in zombies all my friends connect to me just well and they never get lag on my connection or get lagged out but for some reason this retarded ass game chooses one of my other friends and when hes host we all have a 2 of us have a 2 bar and 1 has a 1 bar while he has 4. This game just makes me appreciate MW2 more because atleast it got MOST of this shit right. Also you can't lock a lobby, those privacy settings are useless. Also everybody can't always hear everybody and that is what gets me the most because that always happens in zombies when you need communication most we have to fucking telephone because one person can here a guy but nobody else can and its so fucking stupid.

Totally agree the xbox version is not perfect...
Although most people might as well play COD on the xbox becuase its at least playable, i truely feel sorry for ps3 players. I was gonna get it on my ps3 also but its at a much worse state compared to MW2.
I think activision act like the xbox version is an exclusive and the ps3 version is worth 'less'.
Its a shame that these large publishers are soo cheap, but I guess its the way it is.
Im done with call of duty after this game.
GTA 5 anyone? Killzone 3? in the past 2 years look at what activision have allowed to be put out. MW2 terribly overpowered, blur and Black ops on the PS3 is broken.

The xbox version is definitely not flawless, it has its issues.
For the most part the majority have been fixed, but there are still a few which they are working on.
What I can say on the xbox, is that they seem to be updating it quite regularly via hot fixes.
I think the design on the server/ lag compensation system sucks, the hit detection is still not that good.
However I have played the ps3 version and the xbox version is playable.
I noticed frame drops on the ps3, didnt get into a game for like 20 mins with an open nat type?

6 Hours of Black Ops
MW2 = 25-30 games average
Black Ops = 5-15 games if im lucky

Plus PS3 freezing every 2-4 games
Constant "Connection Interrupted" messages
Signing out of PSN constantly
Slow XMB compared to any other hardware intensive PS3 game (Killzone 2, Uncharted games)
Couldnt even complete a zombie game with 1 other person.

Bad Company 2 is not a good substitute for Call of Duty because Call of Duty is a fast paced shooter, where as Bad Company 2 is not. I have both games, but I'm smart enough to understand the difference between the two games, and the difference is huge.

There aren't many other fast paced reaction based shooters out there on consoles, and that's the reason why you see people are still playing Call of Duty games, is because Call of Duty is one of the very very few online fast paced shooters out on consoles, and the other ones that are there usually suck (like UT3), so saying to a gamer "just play bad company 2 instead" is like saying to a food lover "just eat steak instead of chicken". Sometimes I'm not in the mood for steak, and sometimes I'm not in the mood for chicken, just as sometimes I'm not in the mood for huge maps that take 2-3 minutes of running just to get to the action (while more tactical, it's more slower paced), and sometimes I'm not in the mood for fast paced games and just want to relax.

Both Call of Duty and Battlefield provide unique styles of gameplay and are completely different, so suggesting that a game like Battlefield should fill the void of Call of Duty or that Call of Duty should fill the void of Battlefield is ridiculously stupid, as people who REALLY love FPS will know that they are two completely different games.

You want to suggest something to me other than Call of Duty? Find me an online FPS which is fast paced, modern (as in not outdated) and has as much customization as Call of Duty and is CONSOLE ONLY. I doubt you will be able to name even one, and that's the reason core gamers still buy CoD games, is because no other console fps provides that fast paced shooter action.

It sounds like you guys aren't taking advantage of squad spawning? Okay, yes once in a while you whole team will be dead and you have to start from the beginning but if your squad is decent you should be in the action the majority of the time.

I don't know how your experiences usually go, but my squads are almost never decent. It's always plagued with some problem. The squads I usually get paired up with are the selfish snipers who sit in the back picking people off and it's actually just faster to spawn at the base, or there's usually only about one or two people in my squad (who are dead like 99% of the time when I actually need to spawn), or sometimes I don't get paired up with a squad at all, or my squad are a bunch of run-n-gun idiots who don't understand that the game they're playing isn't Call of Duty, and then I mostly have issues with combinations of all those problems.

For me, one of those problems or a combination of them make up about 90% of my squad mate experience, so I end up either having to find a vehicle to move me forward (while getting me killed on the way there, since when you're in any type of vehicle, you're a moving target with a bullseye painted on your head) or spend a couple of minutes running.

That's my experience, I may just be one of the unlucky ones, but the problem of not being able to get into the action very fast still exists for me and I don't see that changing any time soon based off of personal experience.

You know, for a patch that supposedly made the game "UNPLAYABLE!!!!111" I personally haven't had that many problems playing quite a few games right after the patch came out.

After the 1.04 patch came out, I played for a few hours straight, and was able to level up 10 times and prestige. I did notice, however, a lot more random disconnects from lobbies; this might have been due to the instability on the hosts' ends and their disconnection leading to my disconnection.

Some fanboys will cry foul and call you a conspiracy theorist. But I don't think it's THAT outlandish or infeasible to think that Microsoft's dealings with Activision had SOME sort of subtle (or not-so subtle) influence on the development and platform-specific focus and resource-dedication of the game.

For example, Activision encouraging Treyarch to focus more energy and dedication to the 360 version, or even going as far as to force Treyarch to have a bigger 360-dedicated team than a PS3-dedicated team. Any of the aforementioned scenarios are quite plausible in my eyes.

I just hope Respawn Entertainment (a.k.a. Infinity Ward) gives PS3 the proper treatment it deserves, now that they are associated with PS3-friendly EA. At least Infinity Ward's previous games (COD4 and MW2) were more-or-less solid, quality products on the PS3.

I actually found MW2 a lot more fun. I played that game for hours when it first come out. Sure it had its problems but at least the basics were there. This game is just frustrating to play. I play one match and am like screw this game. Black Ops is just not good imo. Hit detection off, frame drops, lag, disconnects. I'd sell it but I don't really have anything else to play till LBP2 comes out in January.

You are right about it. Problem with too many gamers today is they are so ready to buy into the hypes. They like to believe the next game has to be less broken even with the history of COD. The option of wait and see if not even something many gamers can do anymore.

Ask a simple question. Why are most games (especially online) shipped so broken today? I understand there will always be bugs, but isn't there any kind quality control anymore? Game publishers know with a lot of hypes and advertising, they can sell broken games and then try to fix it as it goes. Gamers can complain but the publisher already made the money. Repeat the same progress for the next game and they know there are plenty of gamers will buy into the same hype.

Completely agree on this. After i bougth fallout 3 goty that was buggy as hell and a fix never came i wont buy new vegas for that reason. Eventough i bet ill like the game but i wont support it for the fact that i do my part to show that releasing a game that buggy isnt acceptable.
Sad thing is millions of others still buy it so next game will be as buggy as the last anyway.

I did enjoy the campaign, but the multiplayer is fucking atrocious. Seeing as how most reviewers completely ignored this and heaped praise on the game instead only serves to prove that most reviewers are full of shit these days when it comes to the big money money hype train titles.

One of the reviewers that actually called it right was, believe it or not, Jim Sterling. I think some of his reviews are ridiculous, but he was spot on with Black Ops. I love the way COD plays, but the series has been ran into the ground. I am completely and utterly done with it. There are better shooters on the market and it is time to put this mess to bed.

In conclusion, all you are getting with Call of Duty now is a milked, shadow of it's former self. In essence, you are buying a name only. The hell with begging and waiting for Treyarch to polish what is essentially a steaming turd. Just because it says Call of Duty on the disk does not automatically mean that it has to be good. As in reality, it is just not. I sold mine a couple of weeks ago with NO regrets. Good riddance.

I am very ungry because i played too long this game and was in the 7th prestige and today i open my ps3 and i have been reset to 0.I don’t know who is responsible or if the patch is but Activision should make something about this and i found out that if you have been reset there isn’t anything to do.0

Im quite confused with the comments..my ps3 had been broken for quite awhile so i began playing black ops on the 360 at various friends' houses. I noticed a few bugs and hiccups but it was definitely playable. I now have fixed my ps3 and black ops is the same game on the playstation. All this talk about getting kicked from games is ridiculous..ive only gotten kicked from one game out of about 30 and i never got kicked from my party. Maybe you kids need to get a better internet provider because my black ops is running as smooth as butter.

Damn ps3 owners still crying? 2 days this news was number 1 on the ps3 section thats 48 hrs worth of tears soon we will have a flood.
