Why can't Sony do this type of quality with their NBA franchise?

That is because the SCE San Diego, the developers of MLB are also the developers of Sony's NBA franchise.

Unless the devs can expand their team its doubtful that both games will be released yearly at a high quality.

This is why I feel that Sony should take the chance and give MLB and NBA worldwide release.

EA does this with Madden, which is an American sport. I think its worth at least a test for one year. You never know, may get a small following worldwide which could help profit and then San Diego SCE can expand.

They weren't always the developers though. They just took the helm for the last one I think but I think they were either too stretched or the team's talent and passion is mainly for baseball and that passion might not translate well to another sport.

Either way, with the insane things Sony's 1st party do with their games I have no clue why the NBA game isn't the best in the industry.

If they could step up the gameplay to match the likes of 2K and keep the other features like story mode and it's unique game modes, that would be THE NBA game for me hands down.

Why didn't they pick a new cover athlete? Mauer again, he didn't even have a really big season. I would of put Brian Wilson, that guy got a lot of publicity after the World Series and his beard is pretty epic.

you fail to see the point updated rosters is and polished graphics and MAYBE one or two added features is not worth 60 bucks and if you wanna play a spot there is the real world where you can have real fun with friends.....18 people for a team ill just go around my neighborhood and see if anyone wants to play(and there all sports fans too so of course they would).....mind you it is also snowing around here too but who lets that stop you! though i would wanna go skiing in snow vs baseball

30 team leagues with CPU fill ins,
custom divisions for leagues,
Hudler gone now with Karros,
Rock and Fire style pitching tuned up more so than MVP had,
true analog hitting with pulling back and moving forward for motion,
analog fielding controls with fake throws,
co-op play,
authentic stadium specific broadcast cameras,
custom cameras,
stadium specific scoreboards and layouts,
real dynamic rain and weather which gets the field wet,
etc etc etc

What??? I am in my 30s Have kids and work. You think I am going to go around my neighborhood and say "hey neighbor it is 5 degrees outside and there is snow knee deep how about we round up all the dads in the neighborhood and play some baseball."

I don't buy sports games every year I usually get a sport title every 2-3 years so it changes for me. You can say that about Mass Effect great game. Does the core change. Updated graphics maybe a few gameplay tweaks.

This game's online has been broken since the first one came out of Ps3. Graphics while great haven't really improved since the 1st one on the Ps3. This is slowly becoming the Madden of baseball and I don't mean that in a positive way. last year was the first one I didn't buy.

They're basically overhauling everything in this game: the controls (analog), the (brand new) player models, the lighting, improved anti-aliasing, improved online modes with co-op, etc

It looks like Sony now has 11 exclusive Ps3 games set for 2011 (excluding Move titles and unannounced games). I often wonder how Sony would do with a tennis game, since their MLB games are always very good.

This is what I've been waiting for since the Move was announced and the reason why I haven't bothered to buy a copy of The Show. Now that its in 3-D and with Move support the only question I have is now can I afford it when it comes out?

Graphics look dated and I'm pretty sure the skin for Brian Wilson is the same as the main character in Heavy Rain.
