PSi: Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's Tagforce 5 Review

PSi: "After five iterations of the Tagforce series, Konami has more than nailed everything involved in making a fun, digital version of the Yu-Gi-Oh! CCG. It may not seem like muh, though when you consider the run of failed CCG's to try and make the digital leap, it's an impressive feat."

GameZone: Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Tagforce 4 Review

Yu-Gi-Oh!, AKA the Madden of card battle games, has a long history of incremental updates that are cool for the hardcore fans but offer few reasons for newcomers to join in on the fun if they haven't already had the desire to do so. Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Tagforce 4 is no different.

What have they done to this once beloved series?

I think it just needs to hit its stride and do some truly innovative things with the gameplay. Make it an actual RPG and not just a card thrower.

The card gameplay got much better.

not really ..

instaed of improving the card system by trying to be diverse , all they did was to destroy each idea they had 6 month after they produced the cards for it ..

And while 5d's cards aren't bad their effects are so powerfull it's feel like a cheat if you try a battle with a "old deck "

Simply put .. they killed the balance of the game for me ... you just can't play if you don't have the key cards of the season in your deck .. and thus yugioh became ridiculous as a card game .

As for the tagforce games they are great games with a huge amount of cards and all the rules are supported.. and the ennemies AI , as well as your partners AI aren't stupid ... it will satisfy the fan that is still playing the card game ..but not me.

Nice review, although I'm not too keen on Yu Gi Oh. I don't know I'll probably give it a shot with this (I've never given it a chance as a whole).

i used to love yu-gi-oh. Man, just looking at how much money i wasted on pieces of cardboard when I was younger....crazy.

I should have sold all my rares when I had a chance a few years ago. I even had some 1st editions...those would have net a pretty penny to people who were willing to pay $20+ per rare card. But regardless, it was a really fun game that was more complicated than the Pokemon TCG and less intense compared to Magic: The Gathering.

It is still a guilty pleasure to duel with the cards I have once in a while. >_>
