The Indie Games catalog has been home to several games that have strong similarities to older genres, and Ubergridder continues this trend by having much in common with Pac-Man and other ’maze chase’ games where you control a character who can’t fight back very well, so they have to avoid enemies while completing their objective.
The first game out of Badger Punch Studios, Ubergridder is a title that can directly trace it's roots back to Pacman. Pnosker.com takes a look at whether this metal grid tracer adds something new to the genre or if it just feels like a stale Pacman clone.
CFD!'s Rob Rich returns with the third offering for the Indie Games Winter Uprising on Xbox Live:
"Game three of the Indie Games Winter Uprising: Ubergridder. What exactly is an “Ubergridder” anyway? Well, it seems to be some form of maintenance robot that constructs grids to repair damaged spaceships. Apparently."
It's worth mentioning that you can trap yourself with some badly places Monster Chew, so be mindful of where you drop that stuff.
I like how the hero in no way resembles Wall-E. Seriously, though, this looks like something I should check out.
Pac-ladies, cute. This game looks hella boring though even if you like Pac-Man. Unless I'm just a jerk...
Diehard GameFAN: "Oh, Ubergridder… sweet little Pac-Man clone. Only this little Johnnie 5 looking Pac-Man clone doesn’t have the ghosts… the wacky mazes… the cute sound effects… or, well, most of what makes Pac-Man so timeless."
