It’s hard not to compare the PlayStation Network title Funky Lab Rat to Microsoft Game Studio’s Blinx: The Time Sweeper series. Both games appear to be traditional puzzle platformers that use time-manipulation to help reach the level’s end. While some may feel that comparing anything to Blinx would be an insult, this is not the case. I actually liked Blinx and the innovative approach to platforming that it tried to introduce, and thusly I enjoyed my time playing as a time-bending rat.

We’re not sure what would make a laboratory animal so “funky” in the first place, but no matter. Hydravision’s latest downloadable release, Funky Lab Rat, is a different kind of game than you’d normally find on the PlayStation Network, a unique mix of platforming and puzzle solving. However, its steep difficulty scale make it an acquired taste, rather than something you’d usually buy for the kids.
EdEN writes: Hydravision has released Funky Lad Rat exclusively on the PSN both in Europe and the US, a very special game in time for the Christmas rush. The story for the game is simple: a lab rat breaks a container thus having access to some miraculous pills which allows said rat to grow super smart while, at the same time, gaining power over time and space in a funky way… or at least that’s what I got after watching the starting cut-scene.
Never even heard of this game until now.
I thought the demo was a Braid rip-off.
