Fortis - PC Review by Brash Games

Fortis seems to be another indie title attempting to bring back the glory days of the retro-style by attuning it to modern expectations with updated controls, graphics and levels. Personally, I never liked Asteroids, but the makers of Fortis clearly did, as it takes from it the perspective, the infinite switch-to-the-other-side borders, and of course, the gameplay. It doesn’t actually feel like Asteroids, which is arguably both a good and a bad thing, but it does manage to deliver acceptable gameplay despite the irritations of repetitive, easy and limited levels and the consequent low level of replayability – not to mention the fact that it appears to have been designed primarily as an iPhone application.

Neocrisis: Fortis for the PC is a 3D shooter in which you play as a souped up spaceship battling futuristic enemy ships and bosses. You must shoot down everything in sight to complete the missions and advance to the next level.

Ironhammers writes: While you could argue it is a cutesey style of graphics trying to reminisce back to the old days, the gameplay won’t keep you interested for long at all. Awkward controls and bland levels have made this feel like a half-hearted effort.

AppSafari: Fortis Review

AppSafari: Fortis is a shooter game that involves shooting lasers whilst guiding a jet from the future. The plane in this game looks like something out of Space Mountain and the terrain reminds me of a Star Wars battle: Gladiator fighting pit meets sci-fi buildings.
