XMNR: "Maybe it's because I'm a hopeless optimist or maybe it's because I enjoy the thrill of playing Devil's advocate, but here are seven reasons that the impending “Uncharted” film might not be as bad as you think."
November 19 marks 15 years since the release of the Uncharted game that started it all.
I hope they don’t make another until the end of the ps5 lifecycle…. Show us a better jungle
VGChartz's Issa Maki: "I finally have a proper designation akin to what I've always referred to internally as 'the line that must be crossed' or 'The Line', for short – ludonarrative dissonance – the separation from a video game's story in relation to its gameplay. Why isn't PETA all up in Mario's grill for jumping on turtles and killing fish, or charging Samus Aran with the extinction of the Metroid species? Ever notice how fire has that habit of making bosses in Resident Evil stronger? Read on my friend, for I endeavor to imbue you with the ability to engage in basic queries concerning the concept."
KeenGamer: "Which Uncharted game is the best? Uncharted is widely recognized as one of the most groundbreaking and consistently great franchises in gaming. For both long-time fans and newcomers to this action-adventure classic, here’s a ranking of the franchise’s four main games."
Great list and great article nicely writen and explained. Although for me personaly i would put Drakes Fortune above Drake’s Deception and Uncharted 4 is absolutely my favourite of the franchise and number 1 for me.
U2 is the only game playable on crushing without causing a great amount of frustration. Not to mention just how much influence it had that they redid some of U2s set pieces like the caravan twice, and armored truck chase in U4.
I'd rate it as the following.
1.) Uncharted 2
(Close to perfection of any game I've played in years. Single Player/Multiplayer/Co Op all amazing.)
2.) Uncharted 3
(On par with UC2 multiplayer/co op wise minus the kickbacks [aka killstreaks]. I really liked the Lawrence of Arabia story.)
3.) Uncharted 4
(Single player is amazing. Multiplayer was meh. Co Op had potential. Absolutely hated the health revive system it slowed down the game way too much. Always preferred the fast pace action of UC2/UC3. Made it way more fun that way. Recoil was too ridiculous that most people in lobbies would only do hip firing, using power weapons and using that OP grappling hook to melee people after dropping them. Nobody wanted to revive anyone.)
4.) Uncharted
(It's the first in the series so it's hard to judge. Though I loved the story.)
Come to think of it, the step between Uncharted 1 and Uncharted 2 is huge. It goes from the weakest in the series to one of the best games ever made.
I think I'm going to play all of them again soon.
I don't really care how many academy awards Pesci, De Niro and Wahlberg have between them --they're still awful casting choices considering that two out of three characters they're playing DONT EXIST in the game.
I'll give the writer of the article credit where credit is due though --they do note that Hollywood has an intense proclivity to screw things up whenever they're allowed to exercise even the slightest bit of creativity. Seriously --even in the PoP movie (which is actually one of the better movies) the introduction of all these characters that WERENT in the game only water down the experience. Don't even get me started on Resident Evil --Alice is the most retarded Mary Sue ever invented whose only saving grace is the fact that she goes topless.
Even with Russell on board, this movie is going to crash and burn. I like the games, but with such horrid casting choices, I honestly think Naughty Dog either allowed themselves into being bullied into a decision they shouldn't have made or they completely sold out.
The writer of the article is wrong on most all counts.
1. Pesci hasn't done anything worth a piss in how many years?
2. Bobby D = Meet The Fockers; need I say more?
3. Mark is a good actor, he is. But he's not right for the part. And that is a sad reality in the business. It's not what you're right for or how good you are; it's who you know and how many favors they owe.
4. Hollywood hired a 1st time writer to pen the script -- That means nothing because 25 other writers have already mucked up his work; maybe more by now. You write a script and sell it to Hollywood, see how many names are attached on the pink sheets when the credits go out.
5. Naughtydog has creative control over the project? Really? They do? hahahahahaahahhaahahahahahahah -- Don't make me F'n laugh. They sold the rights for a hefty sum of money, some 90+ million. They have no say so anymore. That was for the entire franchise, by the way. Hollywood can make as many follow ups, prequels, reboots and remakes as they want now. They can hire as many writers and miss casted actors as they want when they want. Naughtydog is not a factor.
"They get the scripts."
Hahaha, classic!
I just hope Uncharted 3 doesn't get affected because of this movie.
That's my main concern, it's stupid, i know.
If Naughtydog do have creative control over this maybe they'll see how many people don't want Mark and want Nathan Fillion or even the man behind Nathan Drake Nolan North and they will end up fighting for one of the actors to appear in the film. They must be getting a lot of emails from unhappy fans so if they do have some control they better act before the script gets finished and gets the greenlight.
I think Nathan fillion is good for the role but I'd rather have Nolan North. If they get Emily rose to play Elena it would look funny seeing her alongside Fillion istead of Nolan North
David Russell is the director, huh. Never heard of him.
Edit @ MMFGaming: Oh I actually saw this movie, good one. I just didn't know the title of it :)
