The premium cars are beautiful beyond compare, no other racer has this kind of detail. Also the behavior of the premium cars is really good, they're actually close to their real life counterparts. In other racers the cars behave more or less the same. Many of the tracks in GT5 are really amazing and beautiful.

Standard cars and standard tracks can be viewed as a bonus, you still have 200+ premium cars and many many beautiful tracks to race on.

Great physics engine, great sense of speed, great handling, etc...
Support for Logitech G25/27, this is a must for all racing fans.

GT5 is a winner i my book.

if you say GT5 is crap you're not a racer fan

Took a few more photos today. Gran Turismo 5 is beautiful. Those who diss it are missing out big time

@Red_Orange_Juice

Its not that GT5 is crap, its that some of the graphics are crap. Overall GT5 looks great but some of the smaller details really look terrible.

Just put things into photo mode and take a look around. Spectators look incredibly bad - low res, flat, one even has holes in his arms. The 3D character models at the end of driving tests or special events are mediocre at best. Road side ground textures on the other side of barriers are low res. Furthermore, Car shadows seem to be fine on some tracks and have jaggy, flickering edges on others. There is considerable reflection pop-in when in exterior driving views and in some instances roadside lighting is not reflected. Reflections themselves seem to be quite low res as well. Some shadows coming across the track don't alter the appearance of your car as you drive through them.

Gameplay wise its an excellent game but in terms of visuals, it could do with a bit more polish. It certainly did not blow me away as much as Uncharted/Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 did.

Feel free to disagree but by all means tell me if any of he graphical details I mentioned above are not true.

execution174906d ago

@shadow
^^ i thought those were real

Close_Second4906d ago

Great photos...but GT photo mode and GT gameplay mode do not look the same.

pixelsword4906d ago (Edited 4906d ago )

maybe not, but it's a...

wait for it...

a close second.

Besides, the same thing can be said about forza, except the graphical quality of GT5 is better all the way around. (they have it in gamestop; I don't own it, but it may be something I pick up in the next few weeks)

frostypants4906d ago

People need to remember all the ridiculous details that are being rendered on the premium cars. So yeah, in order for them to accurately render the technical specs printed on that headlamp, or those brakes that you can only see from certain angles, they may have had to cut corners on stuff like spectators.

The point being that at any one time there is likely a LOT of stuff being modeled on those cars that you can't actually see most of the time. These vehicles are easily the most complex "characters" ever rendered in a console game.

Cut them some slack, and remember: this is a SIMULATION. It's almost an error to call it a game. And since it's a simulation of driving, 95% of the time was spent on the cars and the driving physics. Everything else is secondary. That's what we were promised and what GT has always been.

Sure, better AI would be nice. A little better detail on the non-premium stuff would have nice.

But would people really have wanted to wait another 1-2 years for them to address all that?! No. Screw that...

Should they have just ditched the non-premium stuff? Perhaps. Just to shut people up.

ChickeyCantor4906d ago

"if you say GT5 is crap you're not a racer fan "

Such a bold claim to make...
I mean I don't like simulators, so now im not a racing fan?

Give me a game like F-zero or burnout, and im good to go.

Hideo_Kojima4906d ago

I wonder whether the 38 people that disagreed with Bordello1900 even own GT5.

Bordello

Well said. This game should not be missed by anyone that loves cars.

Stately Gentleman4907d ago

When these cars make up the majority then they should definitely not be considered as a bonus. 200 proper cars over 6 years is just pathetic. It's pretty clear that they weren't spending that time on the tracks either, as they generally look even worse than the standard cars.

T9X694906d ago (Edited 4906d ago )

Like this?

http://i52.tinypic.com/6zn1...

BTW I found this on Gamefaqs, posted here.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boa...

@N4WAH - Well it's not like someone made up that pic lol I just happen to find it on the message boards. Me finding a pic makes me a troll lol? Forza 3 has it's flaws yes, but nothing like in that pic I found that someone posted.

I only have one account.....

@raztad - I don't know what to show as I don't have the game lol. No ones saying the entire game looks bad, that's idiotic. Certain parts however, look downright terrible, which is disappointing to have amazing graphics and shit graphics on the same screen.

I actually kind of like that video, mostly because of the rain which looks awesome.

@N4WAH

I'm sorry if my opinion diasgrees from yours. I should have known that your opinion > my opinion. What was I thinking?

raztad4906d ago (Edited 4906d ago )

T9X

While you are at it. Why dont you show Madrid, SSR7 or London tracks? I think the one you posted is an old upscaled track from GT HD imported into GT5.

A bit of SSR7 for you to enjoy:

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

And regarding the 230 PREMIUMs, they are not just proper cars. They are far beyond any car in any other console racing sim.

@nihilism

What do you think about my video?

Nihilism4906d ago (Edited 4906d ago )

@T9X69

lol @ that pic. GT5 really is hideous.

GRID from 2007 is better in every conceivable way. Real time shadows/lighting ( HDR lighting, none of this deferred baked on B.S ). Better car models, 3d background and effects, nevermind GT5 looking like PS2, that shot looks like PS1.

Actually now that I think about it I think project gotham 1 from xbox looked better than GT5. Play beyond?

@Raztad

I saw nothing impressive at all in that clip, the environments were completely desolate, vacant roads, vacant road sides, no signage, It's like a corridor racer, nothing much going on at all.

GRID racing from 2007

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

ryuzu4906d ago

Despite all that GT5 is the biggest game this gen.... Just look at the comments on here. No one can resist talking about it - now that is AAA status.

Right, one more attempt at the 'ring.

r.

T9X694906d ago (Edited 4906d ago )

@ryuzu - By that logic, Kinect is gods gift to earth. You see Kinect brought up in articles that don't even have anything to do with Xbox lol.

@cemelc - Trolling doesn't bother me, say what ever you want I honestly don't care. No reason to get worked up because of people over the internet. If ME2 gets GOTY so what if it goes to PS3? I have Mass Effect 1, PS3 only owners can't play that, so it's not like I'm missing out on anything, I'm actually playing more of Mass Effect than you. Also I played it almost a year ago, so not having to wait a whole year is even better for me. Don't see ME2 getting GOTY and going to PS3 could hurt my feelings lol.

cemelc4906d ago (Edited 4906d ago )

Wow @T9X69

We know you dont like GT5, we get it, but will you stop trolling for all of us that like the game, cos i can troll like you except that mine will hurt more than yours.

Mass effect is comming to the ps3 and if that game hits the GOTY award you better be rdy to quit N4G cos youll be in for a sh!tstorm.

Wtf in every article the same ppl always.

BTW dont give crap about youre not being a fanboy cos the 300 or so post from you in youre anti ps3 propaganda says otherwise.

@T9X69, i know you would tell that, theres no way in hell that youll admint that it makes you angry. but since you put that amount of effort against Gt5 you can bet youre ass its burning youre insides.

Lets put it this way If you dont have a ps3 you wont get Gt5 an in all its flaws youre missing a game, if you have ps3 and got gt5 sony doesnt care about you alredy give them youre 60$ theyll only care of those of us that will play the heck of it, you where just a bonus in sales.

Now if i dont have a 360 i can get mass effet, dont need a 360 to play it, nor ill get it even more salt to the wound ill get the dlc free :D

Stately Gentleman4906d ago

@cemelc

So because someone has an opinion that isn't just an extreme he's automatically trolling?

cemelc4906d ago (Edited 4906d ago )

@Stately Gentleman

No, i undestand, an opinion is good to have, you cant tell me that he need to tell his opinion in 300 articles in every board on n4g.

Btw youre the same 3 times the same post in the same forum.

So ill repeat myself then dont like dont play move on.

But since you wont mass effect GOTY 2010 is coming to ps3.

@Stately Gentleman Below you come to a gt5 article to trash talk the game /with lies mostly) and you didnt expect anyone calling you out. You didnt come here for an opinion you came here to pick a fight.

raztad4906d ago

@nihilism

You might not be "impressed" but for sure is not hideous as you are claiming. You sound like a bitter hater. Why is that?

Stately Gentleman4906d ago

Well there are always people opposing my opinion by the truckload on these articles. I guess he and I can't do the same then?

stevenhiggster4906d ago

@t9x69
I'm not trying to be all GT5 defence force or anything but that pic is from Prologue not the final game. Just sayin.

George Sears4906d ago

@T9X69

That pic is from Prologue.

n4gno4906d ago

Nihilism and other donkeytrolls, just do us a favor, buy a real console, the one with better games and functionality, and stfu.

wicko4906d ago

Wow, posting prologue screens as GT5.. good one.

frostypants4906d ago (Edited 4906d ago )

"When these cars make up the majority then they should definitely not be considered as a bonus. 200 proper cars over 6 years is just pathetic."

200 cars at that level of detail? How long SHOULD it take? No one's ever come close to this level of detail before. You've no clue what you're talking about.

Now, a VIABLE argument could be that they should not have spent so much time on tiny details that most people will never appreciate. Perhaps. But then that would have been a compromise, and betraying the primary core audience.

frostypants4906d ago

"GRID from 2007 is better in every conceivable way."

GRID came out in 2008, not 2007. Furthermore, though it was a lot of fun, it was an arcade racer, designed to be control-pad friendly. It was in NO way a simulation.

I also like your avatar. Bill Hicks. Moderately funny comedian, but grossly overrated due to his death. Regardless you don't seem intelligent enough to appreciate his humor.

monkey nuts4906d ago

T9X69. That pic looks like its from prologue. That track has pretty much been completely redone for gt5. Dirt track included. Infact I'm 90% sure that the section of track in your first pic is now part of the new dirt track section, also the overall track length has been greatly increased.
Intentionally trying to besmirch the good name of Gt5 while praising too high heaven inferior contenders? Virgin confirmed. Lol.

Marquis_de_Sade4906d ago

Raztad, GT HD actually ran at a higher native resolution than GT5 does, so you can't blame upscaling.

+ Show (20) more repliesLast reply 4906d ago
yoghurt4906d ago

the reason they nitpick is because instead of focusing on over 200 insanely detailed cars, they focus on the extra cars (clearly ported) that don't look quite as hot (but look fine in motion it must be said)

Blacktric4906d ago

"Standard cars and standard tracks can be viewed as a bonus..."

So Forza 3 wins in department of amount of detailed cars? 400 cars with interiors vs 231 more detailed and good looking cars. It comes to preferation at the end but this 800 cars with no cockpit view thing is silly in my opinion. They should've added a shared cockpit look to all of those 800 cars to make driving them at least more enjoyable.

frostypants4906d ago

Forza 3's "detailed" cars are nowhere close to GT5's. Whether or not you'll ever look close enough to appreciate it is another story, but GT5 was designed for the obsessive compulsive car freak.

I do *sort of* agree with your "no cockpit" comments, though. Still, they might get some flack from the manufacturers for mis-rendering their cockpits, in which case no cockpit is probably the only solution. Hood-cam should work fine for those cars anyway.

But as I said before, perhaps they should have just left those cars out and given people nothing to complain about.

shadow27974906d ago

Doesn't that mean GT psp wins? 800 cars with interiors vs 400 cars with interiors.

But Forza's cars are much more detailed! Exactly, think about that.

talltony4906d ago

They barely rendered the interiors in forza. You are so close the steering wheel for a reason. Less things to render that way.

PR0X14906d ago

Look at this 1080p picture! http://img194.imageshack.us...

You guys look at PHOTOMODE not at actual gameplay.

doG_beLIEfs4906d ago

These so called bad pics of standard cars are actually PSP cars imported onto GT5.

Standard GT5 cars look nothing like this....but go ahead and live in your fantasy world....no amount of bashing by biased media will deter the success of this game with GT fans.

frostypants4906d ago

Jesus Christ, you actually think that's a typical car?

Please. Don't be an ass.

What "doG beLIEfs" said.

The devs are taking heat for FEATURES.

soljah4906d ago

no no no standard cars are not a bonus. in this game u start off doing your shopping at the used car dealers until the player EARNS ENOUGH MONEY thru his racing skills to start shopping at the new car dealers. it is a perfect system and keeps players engaged' trying to win gold in racing events for more credits.
even in rpg's mosts times u start out with the crappy armor and weapons till u level up to get the good stuff.

SoapShoes4906d ago

The standard models look good as well. Not as great and if you zoom close up you can see it's not as detailed, but they don't stand out too much when racing. Not near as much as the trolls would have you think.

ChronoJoe4906d ago

Premium models > Forzas

Standard models are hit and miss, depends what game they were pulled from. I'm pretty sure some of 'em were pulled from GT1... so those look terrible, but the ones pulled from GT4 look really quite great.

In the end you have 200 phenomenal, unparalleled graphically, cars. Another 400 which are between the quality of Forza 2, and 3, and then another 400 which are a fair bit worse than that. Still a very good selection.

What I care about mostly are the racing disciplines and tracks. Where the game is again, unparalleled... the total car count is nice too though. I drive mostly, premiums or high quality standard models, but I enjoy alot of the others too. Just gotta accept they don't look on par with the rest.

gamingisnotacrime4906d ago

so overall is an inconsistent quality throughout all the game, and that sucks. quality>quantity any day

ChronoJoe4905d ago

It's not so black and white, and in that respect Forza also falls far, far, short on tracks and racing disciplines.

Forza has like 17 tracks and the rest are variants. GT has like 28 tracks, and variants.

foss34906d ago (Edited 4906d ago )

This game can look both beautiful and flawed. The quality of the standard cars let me down a bit, and some of them do look poor.

With the sheer amonut of content I can let these things go. The premium cars do look stunning.

To get an objective look at the graphics I have to compare GT5 with Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2, both of which blew me away.

I think all of the previous GT games blew me away. GT5 is stunning but it lacked that punch in the nuts I usually get with GT and other tier 1 graphics games.

GT5 Frame buffer data:

1280x720 with 4xAA = 28Mb

1280x1080 with QAA = 21Mb

Xbox 360's Frame buffer = 10MB EDRAM.

as you can see, team MS would have their hands full trying to get this to run smoothly on their box. especially in 3d.

y0haN4906d ago

Death24944907d ago (Edited 4907d ago )

Finally, if you're going to analyze a game, do it at the proper resolution. Don't go around running a "native" 1080p at 720p to try and give it's competition a fighting chance. It's like saying you're compressing GT5 so you can compare it to Forza3.

LensofTruth, the truth is Forza has half the cars Gran Turismo 5 does on a track at one time. They use the bait and switch with photo mode cars and in game cars. It doesn't support 1080p "natively". Yet for some reason, you think 2 frames at a lower resolution makes it better than Gran turismo 5.

DigitalAnalog4907d ago

Because GT5 is actually 4xMSAA on 720p compared to 1080p 2xMSAA.

720p would make the images practically "jagless".

-End of line

Death24944906d ago

No you don't. Have you every seen a 1080p blu-ray transcoded into 720p? It's absolutely horrible. You actually cause jaggies when you're compressing 1080p content into a smaller resolution.

ct034906d ago

Downsampling only causes jaggies if the wrong filter is used (i.e. something like nearest neighbour).

Using Bicubic, Mitchell or similar, downsampling from a higher resolution source actually *smooths out* the image.
This causes a slight blurring, which is why filters such as Lanczos have sharpening built into their interpolation curves.

A 1080p Blu-ray re-encoded to 720p looks perfectly fine at native res. Of course the loss of detail becomes obvious when you play it back full screen on a 1080p display.

DigitalAnalog4906d ago (Edited 4906d ago )

I don't know if GT5 (full game) does this, but Digital Foundry confirms this to be a VERY unique case on GT5: Prologue:

http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

"GT5 is a very special game in that while it runs with 2xMSAA in 1080p mode, at 720p, it renders at 1280×720 but invokes 4xMSAA - one of the few games on PS3 that actually does this. How does this affect performance? Maybe we’ll do an update next time Polyphony Digital updates the code (that crash damage upgrade is a bit behind schedule…)"

-End of Line

Death24944906d ago

@ct03

Sorry if i don't believe you. You personally have something against this game. I don't know why but you do. You also mistaekn "native" 1080p for full HD. Say what you want but compression is compression.

DJMarty4907d ago (Edited 4906d ago )

Seriously why people nit pick like this. Guess it's jealousy, cos GT5 looks and plays awesome in my book and millions of other fans agree.

@deadreckoning666

Actually GT5 had only one delay and that was at the end just before pressing. Before that it was never given an offical release date, only made up ones by the media.

LastDance4906d ago

you see...the ps3 is about to overtake 360...and sony's biggest franchies just came out...

It doesnt take a genious.

djhsecondnature4906d ago

It does to spell 'genius' correctly though.

Coogi4906d ago

Congrats then...it only took 4 years and for the price to drop down in over half.

It was gonna happen sometime...Just like how Wii USED to rule, then it was 360 now it's ps3 facts are facts and this is a fact sales prove it...And yes sales DO count on consoles!

deadreckoning6664906d ago (Edited 4906d ago )

"Seriously why people nit pick like this"

Probably because the game was delayed numerous times due to the fact that the creator wanted to strive for "perfection"

@Last Dance- So you believe that the majority of video game reviewers have a personal vendetta against Sony and PS3? Use your head bro...you realize that most of these people gave their GOTY award to Uncharted 2 last year right?

Is it THAT difficult to believe that GT5, although probably a good overall package, has some flaws? If YOU think its awesome...great, but why do you expect EVERYONE else to think like you?

@DJMarty- Thank you for informing me of that. I won't make the same mistake in the future.

SoapShoes4906d ago

Lmao @ your comment to Last Dance... The majority of reviewers have given it a good score. Why would you trust them anyway? GTA4 has the highest meta this gen and it SUCKS or most people just don't like it as much as the PS2 GTAs.

irepbtown4906d ago

Delayed

March (Japan Only)
November (Worldwide)

Like DJMarty said, its media making stuff up.

On top of that, Argos (Here in UK) gave GT5 a Sep 2009 release date (Most stores actually did) when clearly Yamauchi stated the game was only 90% (Or a bit more) complete and they were polishing it.

cobpswii36004906d ago

Funny... 360 gamers always say "N4G is ruled by Ps3 fanboys."
I have lost 2 bubbles since GT5 came out for being a GT5 positive! Looking at all the positive GT5 comments, everyone has more disagrees! So are their really more 360 fanboys? Or do they really have multiple accounts?

Silly gameAr4906d ago

Great question. GT5 must have driven some people to the brink of insanity. Even if they don't plan on playing it, they sure love talking about it.

The game is ruling their lives.

Narutone664906d ago (Edited 4906d ago )

Go GT5! Just a little more and it's going to overtake COD:BO for the hottest game in N4G. I've just imported my cars from GT PSP to GT5. You can only choose 50 from 835 cars that you have imported to race in Arcade Mode. Some cars in the PSP version are not in GT5.

Zachmo1824906d ago

No its not that..Its just the Xbox fanboys are in full force which never happens. But just look at kinnct articles you'll find out that this is a PS3 fanboy driven site.

I know what you mean, I was thinking the same way over the last 2 days as I lost some bubbles in GT5 threads as well. Zachmo is probably correct however, the 360 trolls are putting in the OT on this game. GT must really strike fear in the competetion. Just wait until Uncharted 3, it will continue.

PlayStation 3: chasing the 1080p dream, part three - Gran Turismo 5 and the indie explosion

From Digital Foundry: "Welcome to the third part in the biggest DF Retro episode we've ever produced - a year-by-year look at how 1080p gaming fared on the PlayStation 3. Launched in 2007 touting its then-exclusive HDMI digital interface, Sony layered full HD gaming on top of its Cell processor and RSX 'Reality Synthesizer' as key selling points for its third generation console. Of course, we all know how that turned out - both Sony and Microsoft machines routinely ran the most advanced titles at sub-720p resolutions, often with questionable performance, so what happened to the 1080p dream?

In the first two parts of John Linneman's investigation, we've covered off the first four years of the Triple's lifecycle and moving into 2010, the overall fortunes of the PlayStation 3 continued to improve. The platform holder released - what was then - the most advanced motion controller in the console space, backed up by experiments with stereoscopic 3D, which turned out to be a short-lived but still formidable pairing. Combined with a strong E3 showing, PS3 was looking good.

However, it's fair to say that it was a fallow year for 1080p gaming on the system, with only Scott Pilgrim Saves The World's razor-sharp pixel art upscaling, Castle Crashers and Soldner X2's 3D/FMV stylings accommodating full HD output - alongside a wonderful Monkey Island remaster."

Just remember ladies and gentlemen, Sony never said all games would be 1080p. Only that the system would support games up to 1080p in a survey before the system was released.
https://spong.com/article/9...
And as we saw, some games did support it, some games tried their best to support it and some games didn't or never reached it.

Is a higher resolution great to have if you can do it? Sure. Is it necessary for a fun game? No

But what I find interesting is Eurogamer. Are they really talking about HD and PS3 in their article or are they really pushing their 4.50 Euros 4K video download subscription? Seems one is being used to sell the other. Just look at the bottom of the article.

Michiel1989647d ago

thats what every company tries to do, push for people to buy their products. Are you really gonna blame them for that?

ApocalypseShadow647d ago

Not all articles are about selling. They're about informing or entertaining.

Maybe I'm supposed to watch the video instead of reading. But I shouldn't have to click. But the article lazily tells us some games did hit 1080p and some didn't. I didn't learn anything new as I own the console. Then, they push a Patreon subscription.

Are you saying every opinion, preview, review and rant article requires a push to buy something now? Tell me which sites are prone to do so so that I can avoid them in the future.

Michiel1989647d ago

not everyone played during the ps3 era. I started during snes era but loved seeing articles/videos about how gaming evolved before that.

i dont think this article is trying to push you to get that patreon sub, it doesnt for me at least. I dont think theres anything wrong putting an ad at the bottom of the article. all the regular DF videos are free already.

SonyStyled647d ago

Wipeout HD on PS3, a remake of the PS1 game was 1080p 60fps. And that released in 2007-08

Christopher647d ago

This really feels like a filler article. I don't feel like I learned anything notable or substantial from this. I feel they could have reduced the unnecessary intro and over-explanation of things and put the whole series in one article for a more substantial and possibly informative piece rather than piece-mealing it out as they have.

dumahim647d ago

It's more about the video. DF Retro videos are for Patreon members first, and I think the whole thing was one big video. For the youtube channel, it gets chopped up and released weekly.

ApocalypseShadow647d ago

Chris is actually right on this one. Something known already was just kind of washed over in the article. Unless you're supposed to get more in the video. If more is in the video, then more could have been said in the article.

Only thing I learned new was that they are selling a subscription. My point though is that you gain more viewers by having better articles and content.

What Happened To Gran Turismo?

When thinking about simulation racing games in this console generation, it’s not unreasonable for your first thought to be “Forza”. Microsoft’s first-party sim-racer series has been wildly successful, and for many of us, it’s been the go-to franchise for quite some time. But simulation racing games weren’t always synonymous with Forza; there was a time when Polyphony Digital’s hardcore series, Gran Turismo, reigned supreme. While the long-time franchise continues to sell exceptionally well, there’s no doubt that it isn’t the young, spry series it used to be.

It doesnt suck but I would love to see a return to form with GT7. Sport is such a departure that it can turn some people off. It has gotten better over time but it's still no match for a proper GT7.

Rude-ro1714d ago

Sport is awesome for what it is...
However, polygon built a whole new engine and the tech is still being worked on...
I understand it is easy to praise a cookie cutter because it release the same game over and over with rotations of maps and cars...
But this engine polygon has designed does more for things other than gaming.

Repetitive old engines with new makeup does not make anyone king.

Gt7 will be most likely in two years with 120fps and ray tracing because their new engines are ready now.

LordStig1714d ago

It decided to focus on racing rather than cars and in the gaming world, racing = gameplay.

Imalwaysright1714d ago

What complete and utter BS. GT has always focused on racing and gameplay.

neutralgamer19921714d ago

Good I guess selling millions of copies and have OFFICIAL FIA license races and Esports means it sucks

We just don't get it every year which is why ms also delayed next forza. You can't keep making yearly sequels. Quality and innovation takes time

GT sports at launch to now it's a different game and support has been free

Imalwaysright1714d ago

GT games have always sold millions of copies and what's so innovative about GT sport? It's a racing game FFS.

IRetrouk1713d ago

The online championships and tournaments alone offer more innovation than any racer this gen🤷‍♂️ then you also get the live ones in New York etc with proper race like commentary, something else no other sim has done before. It sells millions because it's the best, simple really.

Imalwaysright1713d ago (Edited 1713d ago )

IRetrouk

I'm not even sure why think that having proper like race commentary or championships and tournements is innovative but I'll play along... GT Sport was released in 2017 so how do explain that this video https://www.youtube.com/wat... from 2016 exists?

Too early for an Aprils fool joke.

ElementX1714d ago

@solidgamerX That's really not very impressive. Somebody with an interest in cars plays racing games and becomes a race car driver. That's like saying "look at this guy, he played COD and now he's in the military"

Imalwaysright1714d ago

SolidGamerX

You must think that we're all stupid enough to believe that a game will turn anyone into a professional racing driver.

Prince-Ali1714d ago

FORZA!!! AAHAHHAHA !! Haven't i schooled you on this already before! You're still spewing nonsense on this threaddd looool

mcstorm1714d ago

Forza has always been better online than. GT and still is. Great to see PD try something different with GTS but let's face it this gen sonys racing games have been poor this then compaired to what Microsoft has had to offer. Forza 7 is one of the best racing games on xbox and pc but for me Horizon 3 and 4 have set the bar this gen. Of all the things microsoft got wrong this gen 2 of its racing games got a lot right and others are now playing catchup.

DarXyde1714d ago

It's debatable which is the better game. To me, Forza has the upper hand.

But in terms of online community and events? Ha. Don't lie to yourself just because you don't like Playstation.

Dark_Knightmare21714d ago

Lol not even close have you even played gt sport online?

Imalwaysright1714d ago (Edited 1714d ago )

SolidGamerX

You didn't need to confirm what I already knew: if you didn't think that we're all stupid you wouldn't make such stupid comments that only those that are dead from the neck up will agree with.

IRetrouk1713d ago (Edited 1713d ago )

Did he say gt could turn anyone into a racer? No he didnt, he asked what game has done it like gt has, which is true, gt academy done it throughout gt5 for a start. You need to do some research fella, cause your wrong.. again.

And lmao at element and the downplay, not even similar you crazy man, not even similar🤣 you realise gt has turned gamers into drivers from gt5? Go look at gt academy and tell me how that would be anything like someone playing cod and then joining the army, the downplay in gt articles is funny.

ElementX1713d ago

So you think he learned the required skills playing video games? I remember when people claimed children were learning how to operate guns because of video games, do you think that's also true?

IRetrouk1713d ago (Edited 1713d ago )

Two completely different things and you know it, it is a fact that gt has helped real gamers become real race drivers, the proof is easily available online and I'm not going round searching for links that has been posted many, many times before on this subject, Go and look at gt academy like I mentioned and you can see for yourself, they start out on gt and go from there, so yes the game gran turismo teaches you some driving techniques, now if you can find me a link where someone has been playing cod and went on to become a war hero, please let me know because I couldnt find anything, also do you have a link to where cod has a program to train soldiers? Like cod academy or something?, I couldnt find one of those either, maybe when you do then your comparison will actually make sense.

Imalwaysright1713d ago

IRetrouk

You mean the GT academy that provides training and licenses for a person to become a professional racing driver? The GT academy is how you go from being an average driving joe to become a professional racing driver not GT the game.

Forza = Arcade
GT= Sim

why u ppl keep comparing those 2 games every time..

I’ll stick to sims. You keep playing with your hot wheels.

King_Noctis1714d ago

You forget that there are two Forzas, Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon, which aims at different audiences.

King Nezz1714d ago

The usual response from someone insecure that feels their favorite racing game is nowhere near as good as it once was. I really liked Gran and played them all. Loved the Vector from part 2. But the franchise is not the same.

Gaming4Life19811714d ago

Yea Forza took over and is now the best sim racer with motorsport and the best arcade racer with horizon. GT was the best but it has been falling short for a long time and I'm not saying gt games are bad but no where near king like it used to be. I'd say forza motorsport 3 was the forza that really upped the franchise and forza 4 was when forza became #1.

I remember the glory days of gt but those days are long gone but it's still a good game just not the best. Of course ps fans will never admit it because they will die before giving MS credit.

I do think they need some new creative heads in to give them some new perspectives, they seem stuck in a rut. It's a very high quality rut but they're still stuck in it.

LordStig1714d ago

The USA leg of the Gran Turismo World Tour is going on in New York right now. Go watch it guys, there's some damn good racing and crazy updates to come.

Nacho_Z1714d ago

I've seen some of it before and to be fair it's not much different to watching real motorsport so credit to them for that.

Gran Turismo 5, Gran Turismo 6, Wipeout HD, God of War 3 and more running on PC via the latest RPCS3

DSOGaming writes: "It appears that the best Playstation 3 emulator that is currently under development, RPCS3, received a new update recently. kd-11 has implemented new Surface Cache fixes to RPCS3 that reportedly improve the appearance of car reflections in Gran Turismo 6, and fix various graphics glitches in other games."

If someone out there in internet land could make a decent PS3 emulator imagine what Sony could actually do if they put the time and effort in to make this happen for their next console?

It's definitely not impossible as we can see here. It should definitely be done since BC seems to be very important to Sony this next gen. Imagine PS+ free game offerings from Sony that could include the whole catalog from the PS console family..fantastic.

Silly gameAr1751d ago

Why waste time and money on it? Some people want to move forward, not go back.

Eonjay1751d ago

It's not a deal breaker but having the feature would be amazing. I would rather have it than not have it.

gangsta_red1751d ago

Not everyone feels that way and if Sony is making an issue of supporting PS4 games for PS5 why not support their other past games for people who still have them or a means to buy them and play them.

KwietStorm_BLM1751d ago

You literally just said some people. So I'd imagine you can comprehend that there's a larger subset of people not in that same "some" group. PlayStation used to be known for backward compatibility. Xbox made a big deal about support for their entire catalog. What's the issue with PlayStation, who has an even more substantial history in gaming, tapping into that market? We don't have this problem on PC. It's only a good thing for consumers to be able to bring their games with them through generations on console.

Silly gameAr1751d ago (Edited 1751d ago )

@kwietstorm

Yes, I said some people. What I said was MY opinion. I'm one of those people that couldn't care less about bc, but im not saying ALL people don't care about it. I think they should spend that time and energy for future features and games, but like I said, that's only my opinion.

Imortus_san1751d ago (Edited 1751d ago )

Not every body trows their games way every time the new gen cames along, and everybody that likes games like to be able to play their favorite games in the best possible way.

PS: Retrocompatability is the most requested feature in Sony Foruns, even Sony said so.

The question is would the return on investment be worthwhile? Are the number of additional consoles PS3 BC would push be enough to justify the cost of developing the emulation (and it would have to be bullet proof)? I like the idea of having it, but for my part not having it won't effect my purchase decision.

1751d ago
Eonjay1751d ago

You are asking the right question but the wrong way. For me, the addition of PS3 BC would add value as a customer and make it even more likely for me to buy a PS5. If it is valuable to the customer it is valuable to them.

Also, the way they are doing it would be way cheaper than a program like Microsoft had. The are emulating the hardware. Not the software.

gangsta_red1751d ago

"The question is would the return on investment be worthwhile?"

Sony could definitely make some extra profit selling PS3 games through their marketplace (the same way they have their other classics available). It's not about whether or not it will effect anyone's purchase decision, it definitely didn't do so for the PS4. But as others have expressed, it would be a nice addition to have for PS5 if Sony could open up their whole library digitally and physically to users.

ShadowWolf7121751d ago

Racing games should be some of the easiest to emulate and they're still not hitting 60fps with it, to say nothing of image flickering and occasional sound issues.

Still gonna be a bit yet before they have it fully up and running, it seems, and even then it may only work for part of the library. :/

Gwiz1751d ago

Is it possible to have PS3 emulation on PS5?yes depending on what kind of power it really has.
An i7 9700k is no slouch and the PS4 already has a God of War 3 running much better with less
power required because they converted CBE to X86 which is not something you want to be doing in the long run.

What power would be required to play these games emulated at said PS4 version?.
It's not an easy situation Sony themselves created and ultimately I believe they are happy this way because they
want you to use PSNow,that service is why you will not even get it. (let's not forget that it was a huge investment)
