XMNR: Any game with a pedigree like Polyphony Digital's Gran Turismo is bound to be subject to two things after over five years in development: intense scrutiny and deafening hype. On launch day, the first batch of reviews for Gran Turismo 5 certainly display both ends of the spectrum, ranging from sobering disappointment to resounding achievement.
Sony AI and Polyphony Digital announced the global release of Gran Turismo Sophy 2.0, an innovative AI racing agent in the Gran Turismo 7.
Between Sophy and PSVR 2, Polyphony is REALLY pushing videogames forward into a whole new era.
"Gran Turismo has to run on the PlayStation 5, and that means Sophy cannot consume all the computing resources of the machine."
Interesting - I thought at first Sophy was controlled from their server farms. Seems like they've got it running locally.
Remon: "I didn't expect Gran Turismo 7 to be the most relaxing and soothing game on Playstation VR2 . Yes, it's a high speed racing game with extremely realistic physics. But for me, next to Tetris Effect Connected, it's become the most meditative PSVR 2 experience. What's even more surprising is that Gran Turismo 7 in PSVR 2 doesn't make me sick despite its high speeds.
Gran Turismo series producer Kazunori Yamauchi spoke to me via video chat to discuss why the GT7 feels so enjoyable to drive and what inspired his design choices."
I was very careful not to push myself when i first popped GT7 in VR, by limiting myself to 30 min sessions. I got sick from Drive Club VR. Surprisingly, even after hours of playing on a Gr 3 race, I don’t get sick now.
Because the nature of GT games. The game and the camera is static as ever, and it very usable and a prefect way to play racing game with long sessions in VR.
Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi shares a personal message to celebrate this momentous milestone.
Wow 25 yrs just like that. Feels like only yesterday I was amazed by the first one.
That's the problem with hype --some people are always bound to be disappointed. At the end of the day though, it boils down to what makes YOU happy. No reviewer (and let's be honest, they're a dime a dozen) shouldn't tell you how you should feel about something YOU'RE paying for.
This is an experience I'd always longed for, something I'd glimpsed parts of in Project Gotham 2's Nordschleife Nürburgring or Test Drive Unlimited's untamed roadmap – but never so vividly, and never with such profoundly realistic handling.
For me, this is the Holy Grail of driving games!!!
If the game isn't what expected ether way will sell a lot but next one people will think about it. Thats the way a good franchise can be killed but i'm not saying thats what is happening in GT5 case....correction.
Fans are not stupid!
i dont give a damn what all the reviwers say. heck, most of them are biased/secretly fanboys. the thing with fanboyism in reviews is it messes it up both ways- hate a console, they trash the game. love the console, they overlook many of the flaws. what il be doing is the same thing i did since forever.....BUY THE GAME, REVIEW IT FOR MYSELF. if it sux, il trade it in. if its hot, keep it. simple as that.
The game is great but it is not for people who love Arcade Racers. In my opinion GT5 has the most realistic driving experience followed by Forza 3.
