Quagmire4905d ago

As much as I love the Assassin's Creed franchise, I understand that many PS3 owners would rather spend their money on GT5, or already have spent their money on Black Ops.

Xeoset4905d ago

But 360 owners completely passed on Fable III, Kinect and Black Ops?

Without the actual numbers it's hard to determine how much more the 360 sold, but considering this is the largest launch for an Assassin's Creed game, that extra 5% might be a large margin.

Still, VERY good for Ubisoft and a great series. Keep it up, gamers.

ryuzu4905d ago (Edited 4905d ago )

I think you underestimate how GT5 is viewed in PS3-land.

Look around the GT related-forums. People are buying logitech wheels and stands for it at an amazing rate - and dropping $200 - $500 plus in the process.

Already over on Neogaf, GT5 has more posts than Kinect and about 70% of BlOps as a whole and this is before GT5 is released.

Personally, if it weren't for GT5 I'd have already picked up AC and NFS:HP - but with GT5 so close I just can't justify paying full price for them when I simply won't play them enough to do them justice.

I'll pick them up next year when they're cheaper and enjoy them more as a result.

r.

DORMIN4905d ago (Edited 4905d ago )

inb4 "MajinTheForsakenKingdom sells more on PS3" articles

C'mon guys stop approving this crap. The game sold well on both systems regardless.

EDIT: Oh its N4PS3G, Cold 2000 and Omega approved, figures, I knew their feeding time was coming soon especially with GT5 coming out tommorow.

RememberThe3574905d ago

I actually am not going to buy this game because I'm getting GT5. I'm not that average PS3 gamer so I'm not saying everyone is like me, but take it for what it is.

I'm not even a big racing fan but when it comes to GT I have a different opinion. GT is the kind of game you can loss months in and not know what the hell just happened. People will nit pick the crap out of it, but in reality most people will just be lost in the sea of content and customization(performance).

Death24944905d ago

If you're like me, then you're waiting for GT5 to come out. Sorry but seems to be the consensus right now. People have been waiting for this game for a long time, and that's the only reason why i haven't picked up COD:BO yet.

raztad4905d ago

55 vs 45 makes sense. Xbox has a larger userbase in UK.

N4WAH4905d ago (Edited 4905d ago )

Passed on AC:BH cause of GT5.

I will pick up AC:BH after the holidays or end up renting it from Gamefly. Passed on NFS:HP cause of GT5 as well. Only game I purchased recently was Black Ops to play with friends online but that will get shelved once GT5 hits.

BTW people. This article is based on the UK. You would have to be completely clueless not to know that is where GT5 will bring in it's highest "ratio" of sales. Racing is HUGE, especially the GT series, over there.

But don't mind me. Keeping talking sales. I would rather play games. Oh and BTW. Those people that are saying a fair amount of GT fans are not buying games because they are purchasing wheels and cockpits (racing seat / stand setups)? Could not be more spot on target. If you go to GTPlanet you will hear all the people talking about the setups they just put together or are waiting on. Some of those setups cost hundreds (some into the thousands) of dollars.

I myself have sunk 5K+ into my setup.
I am being careful with my game purchases because I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a 3D display to go with my setup. Sorry but GT isn't just a game. It's way of life / an obsession for most fans.

@raztad bubble for someone with common sense.

Hellsvacancy4904d ago

U lot r cheap, ill b buyin ACB and GT5, thatll b my lot till Deus Ex 3 arrives

PshycoNinja4904d ago

The PS3 version has the exclusive free DLC and looks better on the PS3. Some people are just dumb.

Cold 20004905d ago (Edited 4905d ago )

Yeah ok but 360 owners have already spent money on Black Ops and Fable 3, New Vegas too since it outsold the PS3 version 2:1 and now AC: Brotherhood.

edit:Oops Xeoset beat me to it.

frostypants4905d ago (Edited 4905d ago )

Fable 3 wasn't exactly a smash hit...c'mon now...

Anyways, why all the coverage for AC:B? It's a $60 expansion pack.

guigsy4905d ago

Brotherhood is as much an expansion pack as Fallout New Vegas is to Fallout 3.

jetlian4904d ago

fable 3 sold near 600K in 2 weeks in NA alone

PshycoNinja4904d ago

and God of War 3 sold much more then that within its first week (and it realeased in March too). What's your point? You act like 600k in two weeks is a great accoplishment for some reason. Esspesially considering it's the fall it better make at least that much.

Xeoset4904d ago

@Ninja

Fable III's launch was marred by the launches of Kinect and Black Ops, both of which had infinitely more hype.

God of War III, a Sony flagship title, released unchallenged.

Pretty big 'herp derp' on your part.

jetlian4904d ago

600k in NA only the series averages 3.5 million per game. Don't have EU stats and halo outsold GOW3 in 24 hours so now what?!

Gow3 is the only big game released on ps3 this year.GT5 is finally here and we'll see how it does.

Assassin's Creed 360 beats PS3 version........ in UK.

EPIC FAIL N4PS3G EPIC FAIL.

PshycoNinja4904d ago

What happened to the "Europe doesnt matter to the 360. We only need NA cause NPD == the world". And now that in the UK the 360 version of AC beat the PS3 version by a whole 5% now the UK is relevant again? Oh 360 fanboys, you little hypocrites.

jetlian4904d ago

55 vs 45 = 5% lol. EU has always been the middle ground. Japan is the one that doesn't matter

TehExcusesBegin4905d ago

Just thought I'd pop in and say hi

milohighclub4905d ago

i bought black ops and ac and i got to say ac is so much better than black ops. AC Brotherhood is officially the best game i've ever played!!!! I'm a big fan of uncharted but this takes the crown for storytelling, and the desmond bits at the end are a work of genius. F*&K cant get over how good it is, been a fan since the first game and after brotherhood i'm more excited about ac3 then uncharted 3... one of the only games that has me excited whilst playing it, made me feel like a kid again and reminded me of why i love games. go buy it.

vhero4905d ago (Edited 4905d ago )

To be fair who cares if one looks slightly better on one console than another?? The fact is the game is on both consoles so you can get for your console of choice.

What is the need this generation to compare games?? Because devs find it easier to develop for 360 so multiplatform games come out looking better compared to last Gen where PS2 just blew everything away?

The more I see these articles (don't care who wins even if its wii) the more I think people are trying to justify a lack of exclusives..

As for the game well.. Its basically an expansion they are charging full whack for.. Its Halo ODST all over again

Crystallis4905d ago

I skipped this game b/c GT5 is here in a few days. AC brotherhood looks very similar to AC 2, I'll wait to get it early next year.

Killed4Less4905d ago

And PS3 even had exclusive content. Maybe Ubisoft won't be so stupid next time and give the exclusive content to the platform the game sells most on.

poopface14905d ago

IM surprised taht so many people bought this only 1 year after tha last one.

I love the series, even loved AC 1 more then most, but Im not in a huge rush to get this one for some reason.

I will eventually finish it for sure tho, love the series. I hope this one has a hard setting tho, 1 and 2 were some of teh easiest games ever.

Glad for UBI as I love me some AC.

Mizz_mai4904d ago

Ummmmm i hate saying fan girlish stuff like it's obvious it GT5,that's what happens in business competitors take each other's market share...(take notice kinect..lol).

PS3 owners were gonna buy black ops....and there gonna buy GT5....im just wondering if its gonna live up to the hype...??

One of the best stories this gen. Thats the reason for good sales. Even if it got bad reviews I would have to play it to continue the story.

DeadIIIRed4905d ago

Eh, well I agree with you for the most part. I have enjoyed the story and presentation so far, but I always feel like the story teeters like a man on a wire. Amazing, but it can easily go bad with one simple mistake; more so than other games.

tplarkin74905d ago

Although the PS3 almost always has lower sales, they are large enough for developers to support.

MGRogue20174905d ago (Edited 4905d ago )

... You guys hear that?

Uh oh.. They're coming. Fast.

Omega44905d ago

Thats pretty surprising considering the PS3 version had the exclusive ad campaign.

XXXCouture4905d ago

just shows ads arent everything as most people want to believe

kasasensei4905d ago

Not exclusive everywhere, right?

Godmars2904905d ago

And did the 360 version of FFXIII. The exclusive ad campaign really helped there...

In other non-news, what were the 360/PS3 install numbers in the UK? That's the only thing that would give this article any real merit.

frostypants4905d ago (Edited 4905d ago )

Exclusive ad campaigns = a 1 second flash of the system logo at the very end of a system-generic commercial. They mean nothing.

vhero4905d ago (Edited 4905d ago )

Erm ad campaigns means better game?? What planet are you from Omega4?? Do you just come here to talk complete and utter crap?? As that's all you ever do..

@CTU-Almeida below.. AC better than GT?? Your comparing an action platformer to a driving sim?? LOL and obviously you dont give a crap about GT5 you don't OWN a PS3.

guigsy4905d ago

Where exactly did he say it was better?

TehExcusesBegin4905d ago

Dude what on earth are you on about? He means that the ads mentioned ps3 exclusively and yet it didn't translate into more sales

The dog Chorizo from FAR CRY 6 has wheelchair legs, so is hardly a decommissioned pet. In fact very useful for digging up dirt.

Ubisoft Is Shutting Down Servers For Older Titles And Blocking Access To DLC Content You Paid For

Immersed Gamer writes: "Ubisoft came out with the announcement that some of their classic titles are shutting down their servers. While this is not entirely surprising, the next bit is quite shocking. As Ubisoft states in regard to many of said classic games, “additionally, the installation and access to DLC will be unavailable”.

The wording is a little vague, so the actual paid DLC could be safe. But it doesn’t change the fact that multiplayer modes of Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, Rayman Legends, and Driver San Francisco will surely be missed. Especially since no alternative exists in many of those cases. This happens to unveil right next to our story where I essentially beg Atlus to port SMT to modern consoles alongside Persona.

Seems like videogame preservation is on the down-low…"

This just in.
Ubisoft woke up and pulled an Ubisoft.

Mazgamer665d ago

Reports say that they might continue to do an Ubisoft in the near future. Dreadful.

VenomUK665d ago

Why would DLC stop working, because it requires a server for authentication?

Publishers need to find technical and legal solutions so that any digital product a user owns always works.

Mazgamer665d ago

@VenomUK From what I remember replaying the Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood, there were plenty of mission DLCs you had to download via UPlay. I think they are completely disconnecting UPlay from those games, thus you won't be able to download the DLCs.

I'm guessing obviously. And even that explanation just doesn't make much sense to me. Why would they just remove UPlay support for these games? Why will those single-player DLCs become unavailable? Which DLCs in particular? I truly can't wrap my head around what Ubisoft means by this mess. We will either have to wait and see, or someone will pressure Ubi via social media to make some statement explaining.

1Victor664d ago

All hail the future of all digital games.
I would like to hear the excuses from the all digital future defenders about this

Rebel_Scum664d ago (Edited 664d ago )

Who’s playing any of these old garbage DLC’s/online modes in 2022?

NotoriousWhiz664d ago

This literally has zero to do with digital games and is really just an Ubisoft issue. Either way, most people will tell you that "all digital" is not the future. Digital and physical should always be options.

1Victor664d ago

@ notorious
🤦🏿 "Ubisoft came out with the announcement that some of their classic titles are shutting down their servers. While this is not entirely surprising, the next bit is quite shocking. As Ubisoft states in regard to many of said classic games, “additionally, the installation and access to DLC will be unavailable”.

What part of that makes it zero to do with digital today is Ubisoft tomorrow can be any game that’s digital only or have DLC from any publisher but hey whatever helps you sleep, remember kid the older your favorite digital games get the closer they’re to the big shutdown 🤷🏿

DOMination-664d ago

They are shutting down multiplayer for PS3 games that nobody is playing. If you owned a physical copy, you'd also be affected? It has nothing to do with digital.

Presumably for the DLC, you'll still have access to it if you've previously purchased it. And if you're upset that you haven't already got the DLC for ACII, then I don't know what to say.. you've had 15 years to buy it.

Of course, we'd all love for everything to always be available and despite what you may think, I'm not really defending this - but maintaining multiplayer serves for games from two generations ago that literally nobody is playing takes up resources. And energy. And right now, that is very expensive. I guess the solution should be allowing console gamers to run their own servers.

NotoriousWhiz664d ago

Please tell me which part of this: "additionally, the installation and access to DLC will be unavailable” doesn't affect their physical games. None. It affects all of their games equally.

NotoriousWhiz664d ago

"the older your favorite digital games get the closer they’re to the big shutdown"

Funny, because I haven't lost a single digital title yet. I guess the big shutdown only actually shut down one digital game.

Wintersun616665d ago

They're doing a Ubisoft. Because that's what Ubisoft does.

CrimsonWing69665d ago

And you want us to go all digital? This is the bull sh*t that makes me apprehensive to an all digital future. You corpo guys don’t understand game preservation or it’s importance.

Majors665d ago

Its all about the £££££ and if they can sell you the same item multiple times over... Also physical or digital makes no difference these days sadly because if you buy physical you only get 1/2 the data needed to actually start the game nevermind play it

XxINFERNUSxX664d ago

Just torrent for PC and smile 😁

Majors665d ago

Companies who withdraw support should be legally made to patch games to enable the 'owner' to create and host their own MP lobbies. This is theft

Inverno665d ago (Edited 665d ago )

Unfortunately we've allowed corporations to hold too much power and we don't own half of what we buy. The correct thing to do when shutting down servers, or better yet include it from the beginning, is to make it possible to access what we originally bought. This won't change until they're forced to cause greedy people don't like doing the right thing unless they have some incentive.

CantThinkOfAUsername665d ago

We don't own anything. The company makes a product and asks for a one-time fee to give you a licence to access it. You agree to the terms that they can revoke that licence at any time for any reason. This is 'digital ownership.'

Maybe people should read some of what they blindly click to agree to.

Father__Merrin665d ago

When this happens they should give ddlc free to download
