I really don't see how all this relates to a new orange box. I would be a lot more convinced if they hid a lambda symbol somewhere in there.

Anyways, my dream orange box would be:

1.) HL2: ep3
2.) The new Counter Strike I heard they were working on
3.) Maybe a new Team Fortress. Or a couple mods like a new day of defeat or a new HL2 multiplayer. Or maybe Portal 2 could be bundled with it.

I hope they don't release another L4D. Its just too soon for another one.

I loved the first orange box so I really do hope they make another.

Raendom4907d ago (Edited 4907d ago )

I think everyone wants that. And I can imagine Valve giving it us. Kindest company ever.

toaster4907d ago (Edited 4907d ago )

Why do we need a new TF? The current one is doing fine. Valve can make the game last 10 years and it will still feel fresh.

But I don't think the author knows what he's talking about..

1. L4D zombies aren't limpers, which those zombies look like.
2. WTF?? This one is really baffling, a hazard symbol has never been related to HL.
3. This one is a valid point, three seems to be the theme for this particular trailer.

CombineElite4906d ago

I don't think this has anything to do with Valve. When Valve drops a hint it is always deciphered into exactly what they wanna say and not some guessing game.

Besides I can't think of any Valve game that deals with the Radiation symbol.

Pandamobile4906d ago

Yeah, if there was a lambda hidden in there somewhere, then yeah, I'd just to Half-Life, but it's just a radiation symbol which means nothing in the Half-Life universe.

Saladfax4905d ago

Though probably a large pile of wishful thinking as far as this being a Valve-related announcement, it's possible that creative control rested with the folks running the VGAs instead of anyone at Valve. This *could* (again, wishful thinking) imply that particular references aren't as static.

Though a weak explanation, radiation itself blah blah, has decay and half-lives and whatnot. Weak, but not impossible. Maybe I just bloody want Ep. 3, or maybe I just want them to finish off the franchise, even if it's a twitter post that says, "Gordon kick's the G-man in the crotch and flies to the moon on his unicorn vortigaunt."

Okay, maybe not.

thor4906d ago

Hope they make another? I don't. I don't want to have to buy the same games again. Yes it was good value... but I still have an extra copy of HL2 and EP1 sitting on my steam account. I hope the games are realeased seperately from the get go this time.

Pandamobile4906d ago

So give the copy of HL2 and Ep1 to a friend?

toaster4906d ago

Steam has a gift function. Unless you have no friends.... lol.

STONEY44906d ago

Valve would be the ones giving us the hints. Tactical Intervention isn't a new Counter-strike, it's more of a spiritual successor. A new HL2 multiplayer would be pointless. Portal 2 is confirmed to be a full price stand alone retail game. Team Fortress 2 has a ton of life in it still, especially with all the updates and support.

Seriously, these speculations suck. Here's mine:

Murder... the radiation symbol HAS to signify Death. And zombies obviously Kill. There's a 3 in there too.

IT'S MDK 3 ZOMG!!!!!!

Shackdaddy8364906d ago

@your tactical intervention part - I wasn't talking about that. I read a magazine like two or three years ago with an interview with valve. They said they just started on a new counter strike.

A new HL2 multiplayer would be awesome imo btw. I always loved that game. Too bad barely no one plays it anymore....

If you read my post you would find out I wasn't trying to decipher the video. I was just saying what I wanna see in the next "orange box".

I noticed the '1 of 3' too on the zombie card too. Looks like collectibles or 3 separate announcements. I really have no idea, although, most are forgetting about a game that was in dev called 'Dead Island' which sounded like Farcry meets Dead Rising.

beavis4play4906d ago

dead island?.....i want that game NOW!

jony_dols4906d ago

It was being deved by Techland (a polish company behind Call of Juarez), but I think it is vaporware at this stage.

josh143994906d ago

The one hazard symbol will probably be something do with new vegas dlc

Silent Hills cancellation was a travesty.

mrbearbear281d ago

I still wonder to this day if it was a reboot, or sequel.

cammers1995281d ago

Lol. The tags made it so I didn't have to visit your website.

goldwyncq281d ago

Kojima wouldn't have started his own studio if Silent Hills didn't get cancelled so even if it stung at first, I'm fine with it.

chobit_A5HL3Y281d ago

i remember being so excited for patriots for years, only to have them release that siege trash. i hate how multiplayer games, pvp in particular, have ruined so many potentially good games.

Report: Left 4 Dead 3 Reference Spotted in Counter-Strike 2 Files

A Left 4 Dead 3 reference was spotted in the files of the Counter-Strike 2 closed beta, suggesting that the title may finally be in development.

Number1TailzFan396d ago

Not the first time it's been referenced. Valve said years ago that it wasn't in development, but of course things change. L4D3 was supposedly almost finished at one point but development stopped because Source 2 was still incomplete.

Most of the time you get people saying a third game isn't needed as there's nothing to improve upon anyways, which is complete nonsense. I have to wonder if those that say such things have junk computers or something. Why they'd want to keep playing the same repetitive thing over and over is beyond me.

ElendilsSorrow395d ago

I'm honestly curious too as to whether the entry in the code means something or not, considering April 1's only a couple days away, and Valve knows people are datamining for this stuff now. But at the same time, the CS2 driver update entry meant nothing too, until it suddenly did. No telling with GabeN and co. really.

-Foxtrot396d ago

I do hope Zoe, Francis and Louis come back

cammers1995395d ago

Based on the last two games, it'll likely be four new survivors but past will cameo.

-Foxtrot395d ago

I guess, but I can dream

I just think they were did dirty with the lack of support or content that game got compared to what was promised...them BOOM, L4D2 was announced months later

JEECE395d ago

That would be nice, B4B was such disappointing trash.

JEECE394d ago (Edited 394d ago )

Tons of reasons, but I'll just mention a few.
1) L4D2 feels like a PC shooter in terms of aim speed, movement speed, etc. Even when playing on PC, B4B evidently feels like a slower experience designed for console first. Obviously this is nice for console players, but L4D is a pc-focused series, so if you market your game as a successor, I expect it to feel like it's designed for PC.
2) The AI of the standard zombies (or whatever you call them) is lower. Again, this feels like a compensation for console players.
3) The special enemies on L4D2 are a lot more varied and interesting; in B4B they are just kind of big things you shoot a lot.
4) The world in L4D2 feels more real (not factual but real in the context of the game). When hordes rush you, it feels like they are coming from a specific direction in the distance. In B4B they just spawn in a monster closet in the building beside you. Similarly the special enemies in L4D2 feel like they are in the world, while in B4B they just literally materialize near you. Like there's nothing in B4B that matches taking on a witch that's in your path; the big "moments" in that game are usually just some super generic big thing materializing near you.
5) B4B added basically every bad component of modern multiplayer games geared toward casuals. There's an unnecessary hub world, an unnecessary loot system, an unnecessary operater/hero system where you pick a character with abilities and you level those through cards you buy with loot, and upgrade skins, etc. What makes L4D2 great is that it's a great co-op experience that doesn't have a ton of unnecessary tacked on RPG lite live service features as barriers to fun with friends; as soon as I started playing B4B I had a friend telling me I needed to focus on a specific hero and level them with certain cards. If I want that crap I'd play Destiny 2.

Demetrius395d ago

If they do comeback with this series don’t force no strictly online bs to us mane

Michiel1989395d ago

won't be an issue for me since I never liked playing with bots in L4D2, but I still agree

15 Years Ago This Month, Valve Announced Half-Life 2: Episode 3

Zack Zwiezen writes, "It seems like just yesterday when Valve announced a trilogy of expansions for their super-popular PC game, 2004's Half-Life 2. But it’s actually been 15 years since Episode 3 was announced. And while Valve has since released a new Half-Life game, it wasn’t the one the developer announced back in 2006."

Orchard1062d ago

Still hurts a little that we didn’t get Ep3… and the “leaked” plans for it sounded like a great finale to the HL2 story arc.

-Foxtrot1062d ago

It sounded fantastic and it's a shame we'll never get that

The ending of Half Life Alyx and what it did basically put the nail in the coffin for those plans.

Fntastic1062d ago

Whatever they release next i hope it's not catered to consoles first. Back 4 Blood seems to be going that route by having automatic flashlights, but i have high hopes Valve won't water down any games as they are usually released on PC way earlier, like HL2 and HLA.

CrimsonWing691061d ago (Edited 1061d ago )

Man, I wish I played Half-Life 2 when it first came out so I could love it like the fans do.

I played it on Xbox 360 and I thought it was ok. I recognize it set a standard for a lot of things like physics in game and story-telling in an FPS, but I think by the time I played it the design had been improved upon by other games.
