IGN: BioShock Infinite Will Rock on the PS3

IGN:One of the biggest multiplatform games on the horizon, BioShock Infinite, might have PS3 gamers nervous over poor porting. So Irrational Games Lead Technical Designer Chris Kline reached out to fans in a recent forum post to assure PS3 owners that they won't be getting the short end of the stick this time around.

Black-Helghast4914d ago (Edited 4914d ago )

This is great news for ps3 fans of Bioshock, like me. =]

Blacktric4914d ago (Edited 4914d ago )

I think Sony also should start helping other multiplatform developers for their games to perform better on PS3. Most of them do perform good of course but some games (like Dragon Age: Origins) performs really bad on the system and I think if first party developers like Naughty Dog or Sucker Punch helped these "poor" folks, it'd be a win-win for everyone. Studios should put some more effort on PS3 versions too of course.

Edit: @Persistantthug

The game "looked" better on PS3 but performed way worse. There are FPS drops in every 10-20 seconds, saving the game takes a lot of time, decreased sound quality, very long loading times, etc. These things are simply stopping me from playing that game on the PS3. Of course all these are because of the poor development skills of Edge Of Reality (who ported the game to consoles).

Edit 2: @Dnied

I highly doubt it, but I hope you're right because I'm thinking about buying it for sometime now. Maybe I'll pick it up for PS3.

Persistantthug4914d ago

From what I remember,
Dragon Age: origins was better on the PS3 than on the 360.

I purchased the ultimate edition from the EA store and I swear they made some huge graphical improvements or something because it's pretty damn smooth compared to the original one.. no idea

ps3 version btw

DORMIN4914d ago

Anyone on their forums?

Someone needs to keep begging them to get the MLAA code that GoW3, LBP2, KZ3, Infamous 2 use.

Ju4914d ago

"Maybe I'll pick it up for PS3" So, you're saying it performs worse but you haven't played it yet? Hm...

Blacktric4914d ago (Edited 4914d ago )

I have the "original" game. The normal version which comes with nothing but the game. I do not own the Ultimate Edition, which comes with every DLC and Awakening expansion and Dnied says Ultimate Edition runs better and much smoother than the standart edition.

Dnied4914d ago

Oh well its definately solid on PS3 so I don't think you'd regret that.. whether its better than the ORIGINAL version I'm not 100% sure about that but everything seems so... smooth... like super MLAA or something lol not even kidding.

EA definately didn't say anything about that but it wouldn't surprise me if they just threw some aa overtop of everything as bioware probably knew a few more tricks about the PS3 than they did when it originally came out..

either way, its such a good deal so get the ultimate for sure, no performance issues at all on the PS3.. my choice was PS3 because 1. I hate getting spammed by xbox friends and I knew CoD would be out around the same time.. 2. I prefer trophies and 3. I prefer the DS3 controller =)

I don't get where IGN is coming from. Why wouldn't the PS3 version rock? I played Bioshock 1 and 2 on PS3 and I thoroughly enjoyed them both.

Anon19744914d ago

I'm in the same boat. I played the first one one the 360 when it originally came out but played the second one on the PS3. They were both excellent in my books.

Motorola4914d ago

Treyarch said that they had a separate team for Black ops on PS3...and looked how that turned out :( we will have to see

hoops4914d ago

On the PS3 it was excellent imo.

zeddy4914d ago

once again i'll believe it when i see it.

Blaze9294914d ago

don't developers always say this? Same was said with BioShock 2, Mafia 2, etc....

BattleAxe4914d ago

I tried playing through Bioshock, and I'm about 9 hours in, and I can't seem to understand why people like this game so much. I think the graphics are great and the sound is fantastc, but the gameplay is boring and repetitive. I just can't get excited enough about the game to play any further.

Top 10 Rarest Xbox 360 Games That Are Worth a Fortune

Twinfinite: “War may never change, but the prices of rare games do!”

"And lastly, famous Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling helped to create the action-RPG’s setting. What’s really fascinating, though, is that the game was partially financed by taxpayers from Rhode Island (which allegedly lost the state millions of dollars). Yikes!"

1. Now infamous Schilling
2. No allegedly, it did. And they couldn't pay it back.
3. What really lost the money wasn't the SP release but the MMO they were working on. This was supposed to be an introduction into the MMO world.

Soy282d ago

I hate counting limited editions for these lists. I mean, they're made to be rare and expensive. It's far more interesting to hear about the NCAAs (even if most people know that one already) and the El Chavos than some massive hit that came with a $200 statue at retail.

gamerz282d ago

Me too. Here's the best I can do:

El Chavo Kart $90.14
NCAA Football 14 $87.72
Spiderman: Edge of Time $75.94
Spiderman Web of Shadows $75.09
Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions $67.76

Christopher281d ago

Wow, El Chavo Kart is not at all what I expected by the name. 100% looks like a Sackboy Kart game.

Soy281d ago

It's so odd that so many Spider-Man games are seemingly given lower print runs, even if they're not the best games.

jznrpg282d ago (Edited 282d ago )

Most Xbox games don’t hold as much value compared to other systems. Kameo, Blue Dragon, Last Remnant , and a handful or 2 of other games that I kept.

Fallout 3 and Bioshock Infinite are the rarest games of all time.

8 Best Games Set In A Multiverse

One of the biggest TV and movie tropes in the last decade has been the multiverse, the idea of exploring multiple dimensions to uncover alternate versions of existing ideas. From both a business and creative perspective, it makes sense why established franchises are shaking things up in this way.

However, there aren't many video games latching on to this trend, as rendering multiple worlds in real-time is a difficult feat and the medium is relatively young in comparison to its contemporaries, making crossover opportunities more difficult. Still, there are a few great titles that manage enough to overcome these challenges, and here are some of the best examples.

While I love someone mentioning Planescape, not really multiverse. Planes and dimensions, yes. But, they are typically their own locations and are very rarely tied to another 'verse' let alone another plane. The only things that are directly tied are the ethereal and material planes. Otherwise, they are dimensions created of their own design and goals by the creator/owner and not comprised of 'their own version of another dimension'.
