"Ah, rallying. The pinnacle of all motorsports, the one that, above all others, tests the driver's skill more than it tests the machine, challenging his navigational skills, his endurance, his improvisational skills, and of course, his pure driving mettle.
It's essentially the most challenging form of motorsport, which is why it's kind of surprising how it has not yet been adapted into a proper video games, especially since racing video games of all forms are dime a dozen, and since the format lends itself particularly well to video games in general."
Ken McKown writes: Rally games used to be somewhat of a crutch for me. I loved playing them all, as opposed to simply focusing on one particular series. With the introduction of DiRT this generation, much of that has changed. In fact, most developers have ceased to even bother competing with Codemasters’ acclaimed series, and for good reason. Developer Milestone is no stranger to the genre, and their latest entry in the WRC series brings a lot of great features to the table, but it fails to deliver on several others, leaving it feeling underwhelming at times.
WRC 2 lives and breathes for old school rallying. Traditional A-B stages dominate, with a few Super Special Stage duels thrown in for good measure. All the big names like Sebastien Loeb, Petter Solberg and Mikko Hirvonen are here along with their official WRC rides. The lower rally leagues and the infamous Group B cars are also present. You can race individual rallies with the stars straight away, or embark on the lengthy career mode, The Road to the WRC.
