Odd choices for "best" more like you settled as these being the "best" that available to you at the time, cause a lot of these blow or were average to poor performers that ended up in bargain bin.
Missing too many great sci-fi titles here. The Void, The Resistance Series, Killzone 2 and 3, Enslaved, man.. there were so many, this is redicu-list.

As for video games, the whole best friend betrayal is pretty tiresome. I think that is a plotline that we need to get away from so that people will stop thinking of video game stories as cliche. It seems like everytime I start a game with a best friend character as my right hand man, I just automatically assume he's going to betray me at some point down the road.
