Siliconera: Falcom is filling the PC Engine section on PlayStation Network with Ys titles. Four of them.
Ys I is a humble origin, Ys II is a legendary ending, and Ys I & II are a collective masterpiece.
Ys' I & II was originally a single game. Deal to delay & the limitation Japanese PC98 computer system (a Japanese only PC environment that was very similar to IBM PC at the time). It was until the PCEngine console, with CD-ROM, that combine the 2 games back into a single game. Ys' I & II also the 1st game with voiced pre-rendered sequence. This start the Japanese love on voiced pre-rendered sequence until now,
Ys book I & II on the Turbo CD was one of my very early love of RPGs. This game and FF4. Great memories from childhood during the early 90s
The mazes in Ys Book 1&2 were legendary . Great game , the music was amazing for its time . Brings me back
The Remake for PSP had such a good soundtrack. Maybe the GOAT.

Few video game franchises capture the spirit of adventure as earnestly as Falcom’s Ys. Ys is a love letter to the adventurer in all of us.
If it werent for the Vita i would've never discovered this awesome series. Last entry was not as good tho, still good, just not as good as the previous entries to me.

This game, developed by Nihon Falcom, exhibits the eccentricity and experimental style that seems to characterize ‘AA development. Next week: Little Nightmares 2
