For many classic gamers, Radiant Silvergun is the Holy Grail of vertical shooters. Designed by Treasure, the legendary developer behind Gunstar Heroes and Ikaruga, this wonderful effort features cool anime style cut scenes and intense, pulse pounding action. It’s also one of the rarest games on the planet, as the arcade and much sought after Sega Saturn version never made it to the U.S. Well, come next year, Westerners will finally get to experience this outstanding title without having to win expensive eBay auctions, as Treasure plans to release it exclusively on Xbox Live Arcade, complete with upgrades.

This week Trees returns and we are talking about the Japanese developer Treasure, best known for some of the most impressive games on Sega’s consoles (Gunstar Heroes, Radiant Silvergun, Guardian Heroes, and Ikaruga) as well as Nintendo’s later consoles (Bangai-O and Sin & Punishment). We discuss the company origins, values, and of course the entire library of this innovative developer.
