In-depth Review: Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 - Electronic Theatre

The Dragon Ball franchise has had a turbulent time in the videogames industry over the past decade. The origins of the one-on-one Beat-‘Em-Up titles on PlayStation 2 and GameCube were met with significant critical acclaim, while the 2D Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable (PSP) titles varied in quality as much as they did in gameplay. The current-generation releases thus far have failed to evolve the formula beyond the high bar set by Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi on the PlayStation 2, the first title based upon the franchise developed by Spike. Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2, as the natural evolution of that defining title, hopes to rectify this situation, but aside from adding new characters, costumes and gameplay modes, exactly how Spike are going to improve the formula is hard to identify.

ME Gamers: Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 Review

ME Gamers: The Dragon Ball fighting game franchise have taken a down turn ever since they dropped the 2D fighting system at the end of the Budokai series. Once they started the Tenkaichi series I felt that the franchise was slowly being drawn out and would eventually reach a point where the creators will have to throw what they have built up away and find some new way to reform the series .

Console Monster - Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2 Review

Console Monster - Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 is one of those games that I wish I could love but deep down hate with a passion. With such a large variety of different characters, countless worlds and funny one liners, you would think making a fighting game based off the hugely popular anime and manga series would be a breeze but how wrong you are. Although Namco have crammed a ton of different fighting modes in, both single and multiplayer, the game feels very repetitive and unless you are a hardcore fan of the Dragon Ball series, you will probably want to steer clear of this one.
